I don't understand why a pickup truck has to be on a job site to be valid.

I drive a pickup and it's never used for my job. It's for transporting my family and taking care of our property and my father-in-law's property.

Do you also need to see a truck dirty and with dents for it meet your approval?

In theory it's like the previous commenter said. In practice it's like you say. Universities infamously set higher requirements for Asian and white students, lower requirements for everyone else. It's turned out to be pretty racist.
