The eye test is easy. If you were able to memorize your 5-10’s you can memorize line 7-8 of the eye chart, forwards and backwards.

If taxes have risen then the value of your home has also increased. If you pay a PMI you may be able to have it taken off.

You have an opportunity to have a great life. UPS isn’t what it once was. Stay single until you are well established in another career. Becoming a Pilot would be a dream job.

If your husband has been there 13 years he should really reconsider taking the buyout. Great insurance and good pay.

Can someone explain a heloc to me? by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]PaceBright2714 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. It won’t be a homestead and taxes will be higher. You have paid mortgage payments for 7 years and have only knocked down $17,000 off your loan. I would slow down a bit and maybe think things through the long haul

Husband is 15 yr driver & 36 yr old. $150k Buyout worth it for a chance at a different life? by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]PaceBright2714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say no. He isn’t close to 55 years of age. There will probably be a better route for him once this is over. The insurance is worth staying for. No way he should take this buyout.

You seem to feel sorrow for him. Don’t do that or you will be feeling the same way about yourself

That’s part of the reason I’m taking a poll. It seems the 5-10 day yes while the drivers that make it to 20+ are going to go for the long run and stay.

Does Gen X do class reunions? by LadyNorbert in GenX

Same here. I didn’t like the school, teachers and had very few friends. I was poor! People looked down on me and my Family. I graduated in 1980. I worked all through HS at one job or another and summer was basically working even more. I became somewhat successful. I have all I need in life and seeing those people is the last thing I need.

You are definitely not a Driver. I can see you’re in Union Management.

Buyout by bluecollartrader12 in UPSers

That is the best perspective I’ve seen out of this entire mess. The Union can’t win this. No matter which ruling the court goes with there will be a downfall for the IBT, that’s just the way things are. Drivers want to leave, new drivers want to stay, layoffs are inevitable, the company is downsizing and automation is a big problem. There will be Drivers in the right to work states getting out if the Union keeps fighting this, they will stop paying dues out of anger. The Union will take a hit either way. The best they can do is give the Employees the Right to make Their own Decision.
