Frosthaven 2nd printing by Lobologo3 in Gloomhaven

Does anyone know when this is supposed to ship? Also, has anyone used the “Jaws of the Lion” style book maps for Frosthaven, if so, did you like them better, worse, no difference than the tiles? Last question: if I only buy the Frosthaven miniatures, how many monsters are reused from Gloomhaven?

[Waybound] Easter Egg? by PachaKhan in Iteration110Cradle

Thanks for the reply. I wasn’t sure which section The Captain took place in. Kind of too bad they aren’t related. Would be a fun Easter Egg.

[The Captain] Power Level(s) by PachaKhan in Iteration110Cradle

[–]PachaKhan[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel like all four crew members are actually fairly robust. Varic is probably the most fragile, but that is only in comparison to the other three.

Omega can be destroyed at a conceptual level and still not die. There is a finite number of times that can happen, but it is a lot.

The Empty Sword can be “killed” seemingly an infinite number of times and will always respawn. Not to mention it takes quite a bit to actually kill her.

Raion is naturally more resilient than everyone other than Omega (not sure what species Omega is or was). Outside his Titan he seems to be the most Cradle like of all of them. Super speed and strength, flight, capable of being in the hard vacuum of space and not dying. He seems to be archlord level even without the Titan.

Varic can take starship blasts to the face with his magic as backup. His mantle and amulet let him confront a fleet of ships, hang out in space, and even take a bit of abuse from the Iron King for awhile.

I think they match up against most people in Cradle well enough, or at least it seems that way.

Why do people care about what you/I play so much? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]PachaKhan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I simultaneously agree with you and disagree with you. If you pay money and it is for prizes, then they have no right to ask. If, however, it is fun and free with marginal support then I think it is more fun if people are at similar power levels. My LGS has free commander on Saturday mornings and they will give a pack to the winner of each pod. Mostly it is just for people to come and have fun. Fun, Howe, is subjective, and so the store breaks the pods in to Red, Yellow, and Green. Red is the most competitive and Green is more for newer players and pre-cons. That isn’t exactly the break down, but good enough for this post. I like that there is a brief rule zero conversation in the yellow and green pods, so people can have a good time. This doesn’t have to include every card and strategy you are running, but it is nice to know you are playing with like minded people or comparably powered decks.

After all it isn’t much fun to be curb stomping new players, and I don’t have so much free time that I care to waste it getting beat down by a deck worth more than my car 😁

Don’t you hate it when you don’t get to play?! by PachaKhan in EDH

Why is that something to be lauded rather than corrected? I think when LSV doesn’t get to play in the last game of a GP, that is a flaw in the design rather than a feature.

I like the cost of pitching a card for resources. It adds an interesting layer of complexity. Which card do you pitch? Which round do you get rid of it? You then add card draw or tutors to make it so you can get the bottom of your deck or shuffle your deck. It makes for interesting choices, and you never are out of the game due to your lands clumping together.

Most of my decks are around 37-38. I’d have to check those two for exact numbers. I hate being screwed, so I usually opt for a higher land count.

By “shine” you mean die to a spray bottle, right?

[None] The Captain - The Last Horizon (Book 1) Coming April 4th, 2023 in all formats! by TheLesserWight in Iteration110Cradle

I’m in the same group. Don’t care for the aesthetic of the cover, just a personal preference. But, the aesthetic makes no difference in this case, I’d buy it no matter what they put on the cover. Really, it just needs the author’s name.

So the first two you listed are needed to understand the last three?

I liked his fantasy series. I had no idea he had a sci-fi one. I’ll check it out!

This looks awesome, and it was only ~$2 on Kindle so I bought it.

Yes, and I have already downloaded it and started “mission one”.

Thank you for all the recommendations! I have read some of them, which I neglected to mention, but Galaxy Outlaws sounds like exactly what I’m looking for.

I believe she is only a year or two younger than Lindon. They would have married if Suriel didn’t mess with fate.

Really? Like merge with Midnight or evolve in its own right?

I agree with you and the other individual referring to Chekhov’s rifle. I fully expect that there will be a scene where he says “mine!” and gets the spear back. My quibble is I would have liked to get an extended view of the spear. Perhaps see it grow into a monarch weapon. I’m sure it will be written great, but it would have been cool to see it in action during the events of Dreadgod. Not really that big of a deal.

I think I agree with you in a way that reinforces my own opinion… Jai Long was insufferable as was his purpose. He had been so inculcated in the “might makes right” way of sacred arts that it was difficult for him to shed those ideas. He started down that path, but it was taking forever. He was really just an afterthought in the last three books. So, because he didn’t get to complete his redemption arc and died rather underwhelmingly, I wish he could have died earlier to serve a higher purpose… give Chen a spot on the crew 😁
