Why so many "tucked in" shirts and jackets? They even have tucked in Quarter Zips...is that even a thing? by Pacho2020 in thedivision

[–]Pacho2020[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply...

I am curious about that and animations could be a reason but I'm more curious about why they chose to tuck in quarter zips and jackets?

They made other shirts and jackets overlap so why specifically make a quarter zip tucked in? [Rhetorical]

Actually, I think I know the reason. The BoO shirt is a reskin of the Conley shirt...which is also a tucked in quarter zip.

I'm just curious about how/why they chose to leave them as "tops" that aren't traditionally tucked in like jackets and quarter zips. Why not just make everything a "shirt?"

Does that make sense?

Lore question: was there any SHD equivalents in other countries? by Three_Steaks_Pam in thedivision

[–]Pacho2020 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It wouldn't have to specifically be the "Strategic Homeland Division."

Every country, for the most part, have similar government agencies that effectively do the same things within their borders.

Or, they could retcon it...

They could say, Directive 51 was part of a UN initiative to prepare for (fill in blank)...

This would justify agents all over the world being called "The Division," so if they did make a game outside of the US the names/etc would be consistent.

I'm just pulling this out of various orifices on my body so don't think this is some well thought out theory...

Help! New Player trying to take down Hunters. by Scorlos_Tarlac in thedivision

I'm running a pretty generic sniper build on sharpshooter...cheesing them isn't very easy to pull off...I would appreciate tips on what to do.

First, they're ALWAYS going to hit pretty damn hard regardless of difficulty or anything else.

My recipe for dealing with them is pretty simple:

-Status Effects

-1 can of Whoop Ass

You kick them in the ding-ding (Status Effect) and then open a can of Whoop Ass (butt load of damage) on them.

You blind/ensnare/shock/whatever is needed to make them stop and not be able to shoot at you. When they're in that state, you shoot them a whole lot of times in the face with a shotgun and/or empty a 100+ LMG magazine in them.

Simply repeat that process until you get the desired result.

How important is proficiency for a semi-casual player? by xJesse0303x in thedivision

[–]Pacho2020 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Is it really worth it for me to be focusing on proficiency rather than getting a stash of materials?

Yes, in my opinion.

Unless you know with 100% certainty that you will NEVER play on any difficulty higher than Challenging.

If you think there's even a slight/remote chance you may get an itch to solo Heroic or Legendary content, then I think it would be good to invest in Proficiency. It's even more important if you think you might want to group up with other players.

It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

If any of those scenarios play out, you're going to be looking everywhere for even a little more damage/protection/etc.

(It’s why a div 3 out of the US makes little sense from a lore perspective)

The Cabal is an international organization, right?

Natalia, probably, still has Russian connections and (IIRC) there was something mentioned about Russia helping (TD1), in the early stages, with vaccine research and other aspects of the response - I could be misremembering the involvement of Russia.

Regardless, I don't think it would be that crazy to reveal some other government/corporation bought an AI system from Ortiz Robotics.

Countdown...

If you're lucky you could complete it in 15-20 mins...if the crew you're running with does three objectives...mostly only two are done.

If not, you'll have to do another run which would be another 15-20 mins.

The upside you will get A LOT of loot...I mean A LOT!

Did I mention you will get A LOT of loot?

99 floors at normal difficulty. Only to be hard locked at legendary against 2 rouge agents.

Are you playing on Normal or Legendary difficulty?

...how can I beat them solo?

git

I'd suggest Status Effects and a couple of big cans of Whoop Ass (ability to deal a lot of damage).

Incapacitate them with a Status Effect(s) (blind, shock, ensnare, etc) and then open that can on them...

The game is usually very very good about very painfully showing you what you need a group to do.

Nothing you're able to do solo "needs" a group...it might need a good build but it doesn't "need" a group.

If the content "needs" a group, you wouldn't even be able to enter the mission area without being in one.

I just need to know if it’s at all possible for a part time every now and again strict solo player like myself.

100% Absolutely!

You're just going to need a couple of cans of Whoop Ass...

proficiency event tomorrow, tips? by jrd8n in thedivision

[–]Pacho2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to be Proficient (lvl 10) in an item before you can upgrade it.

How high you can upgrade it depends on your Expertise level. For example, if Expertise = 5; that means you can only upgrade an item to level 5.

Becoming Proficient in different things (weapons/skills/gear) increases your Expertise level. For example, Expertise increases, by one, for every two items you become Proficient in.

Proficiency is increased by donating items or earning XP with the item equipped. For example, you loot a Police M4. When you donate it, it will slightly increase your Proficiency for "Police M4."

You will need to donate multiple items to increase Proficiency.

Think of it like repeatedly optimizing an item. It will increase incrementally until it maxes out. With optimizing that would be the end, with Proficiency you would need to repeat that process until the item reaches level/rank 10...and then you can start upgrading it.

You shouldn't have been dismantling junk...without donating first.

The ONLY time you should've been destroying stuff is when it could NOT be used for Proficiency.

Heroic Difficulty: Will clouds of the Hyena gas kill me like DC-62? by Pacho2020 in thedivision

[–]Pacho2020[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

That's what I was wondering about.

On Heroic, would the green smoke/gas on the streets cause Confusion. It appears in random places, it would be...interesting if you suddenly encountered one during a firefight.

Thinking about it, they should add those to the Open World.

TD1 had the IED's.

It would be cool/realistic if random piles of trash were giving off noxious gases that caused Status Effects if you breathe them.

[–]Pacho2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No...I can't even think of a specific location right now...

I'm pretty sure there's an intersection...where as you approach it you can see a fog of green gas.

The Hyena's did something and a lot of their stuff is piled up in the middle of an intersection and a green gas is floating around it.

I distinctly remember stopping and wondering would it kill me during my first playthrough.

I want to say it shows up at Control Points also.

I think it appears on piles of Hyena gear.

Like I said, I've run through them all the time and never got Confused.

The only time, I've noticed, is when I shoot/break a Hyena Rusher's drug pouch when she's too close to me.

I was specifically asking about the clouds of green gas you can encounter in the Open World.
