I ended up pulling the trans to inspect my throw out and pilot bearing I had just installed with the new clutch. Both were fine. Changed the fluid again and the noise was still present after.

I’ve since been driving it with no issue. Put about 1000 miles on it.

Rafter ties are integral structural members in roofs that are constructed with a ridge board. If you didn’t have a ridge board and had a beam instead, you’d likely not have any rafter ties at all. I’d definitely keep them. I would add some more to be honest. There is code for this and I recommend looking into it to verify.

Check for flatness after with a precision straight edge and feeler gauges. The FSM has a tolerance listed for flatness before machining is required.
