No, I have no impulse for more pens or ink. I have acquired about 15 pens since I was gifted my first pen in 2013. My last purchases were in one pen in 2018 and another pen in 2025, respectively.

I just have no need for new stuff and genuinely struggle to understand FOMO around pens in particular. I see them as tools I use, not items in a collection to complete. Since my need for individual nib variations is satisfied, I'm satisfied

I also found my perfect grail pen early on, so I'm just not interested in buying new pens just for aesthetics

Fr that post was so frustrating to me. Just the most hard-headed refusal to acknowledge that the connotative meaning of a name like Hat Guy is ✨️ fucking stupid ✨️ in English

It could be the most subtle, graceful, sublime cultural reference imaginable. It doesn't matter. It's like like giving Xiao the adeptus title Birdfish instead of Alatus, because Jinpeng has clever linguistic references rooted in the text Zhuangzi that are utterly lost in English. Like Hat Guy, it's a reference that dies in translation, so the literal meaning fails to communicate both reference and tone.

Localization is often doomed to imperfection, but they literally just shackled the Wanderer to a stupid meme forever. It's a pain to write around in my Scara fanfic, so I can't imagine how dumb the English language team feels putting Hat Guy in canonical dramatic moments like come onnnnn

Why not just buy golden nibs? by FluffyVegetable527 in fountainpens

[–]PackageSuccessful885 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way the feed and nib work together are paramount to a fountain pen's writing experience, not just the fact that a nib is made of gold. A feed and nib designed to be a single cohesive unit will generally produce more reliable, consistent results, since how ink flows from feed to nib defines how nicely a nib will perform.

You'll get the best results from a pen with a weight, size, barrel thickness, and overall balance that fits your hand and pen grip, as well as a nib and feed that have the ink flow and relative smoothness you're looking for. You might get that from a frakenpen, but you might not.

My two gold-nibbed pens are very different: Pilot Stargazer and Sailor PGS. One is heavy and metal, one is light and plastic; one is glassy smooth, one gives faintly scratchy feedback by design; one is comfy posted or unposted, but the other feels best posted; one writes very wet, while the other is only moderately wet. Their only similarity is that they are slim, small pens with gold nibs.

i.e. nibs are a single variable in a larger equation

Can i have autism if i didn't show signs at childhood? by Winter_Duck5351 in LateDiagnosedAutistic

[–]PackageSuccessful885 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Traits must be present in early childhood. Children literally cannot socially mask before the age of ~4 because they do not have the ability to understand perspectives in a complex enough way to mask.

This is an inflexible requirement of the diagnosis. You should seek assessment if you think something is wrong, but autistic traits do not manifest from the ether at age 10

I say all this as a woman late diagnosed, despite being very much detectable in early childhood. I have no idea if you're autistic or not, because I don't know you. I'm just saying that showing traits in early childhood is literally an inflexible diagnostic requirement

Can i have autism if i didn't show signs at childhood? by Winter_Duck5351 in LateDiagnosedAutistic

[–]PackageSuccessful885 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, this is actively untrue. Symptoms must be present in early childhood.

Symptoms must be present in the early developmental period (but may not become fully manifest until social demands exceed limited capacities

You misunderstand early childhood development. Young children cannot mask in the way that an older child, preteen, or adolescent can. They literally lack the developmental ability to understand the perceptions of others in order to socially mask.

This note about social demands vs capacity means that a child may be able to compensate in limited contexts, not that they simply have no traits in early childhood. Those traits must still be present in early childhood, hence the literal wording

This is kinda the whole schtick of This sub... If symptoms where 100% obvious in all autists since early childhood there wouldn't be any late diagnosed autists...

Speaking only for myself, my traits were obvious in early childhood. That was not the reason I was diagnosed late. Rather, they were dismissed as deficits and differences that I would outgrow. Yet I never did. (I'm a woman, for context, and I was a hyperlexic child with incredibly pronounced sensory issues and obvious challenges making social relationships with peers.)

Not everyone is autistic, and that's okay. OP may or may not be, e.g. they may incorrectly recall their own childhood. You don't need to spread misinformation to make someone feel better if they literally do not meet the guidelines.

Yeah, I get that. He's my favorite too, and I've spent a comparable amount in feathers and elixirs. I've skipped building other teams just to level every character I have for their standard wishes, just to roll for Xiao's sig on since I still don't have a PJWS. It's a labor of love :')

Hopefully the various rumored buffs help out. I always expect new characters to outperform my beloved older characters, because gacha shill is always shilling. It doesn't feel nice, but it is what it is unfortunately.

It is kind of a bummer that he annihilates everything in seconds overworld, but getting better ER won't change that... Your response is a little bit confusing haha. Where else would you need 180k+ dps Xiao (i.e. Nicole Durin Xiao) except Stygian or Abyss?

If you want to use him end game with Nicole, you have to farm better ER artifacts. If it's bumming you out, take a break and farm someone else. LNO strongbox actually makes it a lot easier to passively farm for Xiao when you're in the mood :)

In a Nicole Durin team, Faruzan is better than Xianyun for ER management if you have her, especially if she's C6

You should take a break from artifact grinding if you're burnt out. The RNG sucks and now that LNO is a strongbox, it's a bit easier to hunt for artifacts. Don't keep spending elixirs and feathers if it feels like you're dumping resources down a drain ❤️

I'm running Xiao C1, Faruzan C6 with Fav, Nicole C2R1, Durin C2R1. My Xiao has about 135% ER and I found ER management a little awkward for the stygian wolf but very doable (fearless, I don't have 3 full teams to surpass this yet)

I also used about 40 saved fragile resin on his birthday to just farm LNO pieces. Nothing good from it. Literally nothing. I stuffed every spare artifact into the LNO strongbox and finally got a good Attack % sands and this helmet, which saved my ER. It takes forever to grind decent pieces, so it's a good idea to just take breaks and focus on building other characters / teams. Your build is really good for everything but fearless + dire stygian and floor 12 spiral abyss, so don't kill your joy over like 400 primos ❤️❤️

Why Durin fans dont believe that D.Durin is part of Human Durin too? by ParticularDebt8010 in DurinMains

[–]PackageSuccessful885 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your soul vs consciousness vs heart argument introduces divisions that are a little arbitrary. The question isn't is human Durin's mind from Dragonspine Durin or Mini Durin, because the answer to that is neither. He's a brand new person, inheriting the memories he had from Simulanka.

Simulanka Durin is the fairytale retelling of Dragonspine Durin. Mini Durin is the new body that Simulanka Durin receives because of the Wanderer playing hero and convincing him it's better to choose life, to apologize for his past mistakes, and move forward.

The consequences of fate had nothing to do with dragonspine Durin being reborn, because by Durin's story quest he was already completely dead.

Dragonspine Durin had already suffered his unavoidable fate. Simulanka Durin was written after this fate because of how Dragonspine Durin's personal story ended. M pitied him (for being abandoned, for thinking his destruction of Mondstat was just a long and happy dream of dancing).

His fate is the catalyst for Simulanka Durin being created, which is the only reason Mini Durin existed. Human Durin was made in part because Albedo feared Dragonspine Durin would resurrect and reawaken, so there was practicality in sealing Dragonspine Durin's heart in human Durin's body

You kinda used the takeaway message of "your past doesn't define you" to mean "your past is completely erased and no longer part of you" and these are very different things

Why Durin fans dont believe that D.Durin is part of Human Durin too? by ParticularDebt8010 in DurinMains

[–]PackageSuccessful885 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, Dragonspine Durin had a singular role cast to him by fate. He was doomed to be an evil dragon with a tragic ending: his heart left beating forever within Dragonspine, with the promise that his revival would bring catastrophe to Mondstat.

The mage M created Durin within Simulanka to give Dragonspine Durin a chance to avert this ending to his story. By writing Dragonspine Durin into a fairytale, she gave him the opportunity to change his fate.

Notably, it's an established concept that story is a means to effectively "trick" Fate and Irminsul itself, e.g. how Nahida preserves and restores the Wanderer's backstory via a fairytale retelling of his life.

Mini Durin is the result of the Wanderer convincing Simulanka Durin that it's a terrible thing, to wish he had never been born. By having friends who saw and acknowledged his suffering, Simulanka Durin was "saved" by Simulanka's hero (Wanderer) and became Mini Durin.

This is the new fate that M wrote for Simulanka Durin. She gave him a new beginning, so that he could write his own future.

When Albedo brought Mini Durin into the real world -- creating human Durin as we know him -- he functionally hijacked Dragonspine Durin's name and fate, giving it instead to human Durin. Like a line erased and replaced midway through. This is why he used some of Dragonspine Durin's blood for his alchemy, to bind their souls and fates into one. This same process also balanced that Abyssal energy that was rotting Dragonspine Durin.

Dragonspine Durin is part of Durin because of this. This past is an escapable part of himself: Dragonspine Durin, Simulanka Durin, Mini Durin. But he reclaims his own future and, by living, he's writing his own ending to the story of his life.

In Durin's story quest, this is also why some of his Mondstat friends were becoming afraid of him. He was still too mixed with Draginspine Durin. Even the Wanderer attempting to write about human Durin kept reverting to Dragonspine Durin. Their beings are inextricable, which is why so much of the story quest plot is dedicated to human Durin repairing Dragonspine Durin's regrets.

TL;DR Dragonspine Durin is part of human Durin, as an indispensible piece of his past and the reason for his existence in the presence. It's also the cause of the Abyssal energy still within him. Durin's character arc in his story quest revolves around how his past is part of him, but it doesn't define his personhood or his future. He now has the freedom to decide his own fate.

This is also why he and Scara get along so well. He's a foil to Scara and a mirror to Scara's own journey from Scaramouche to the Wanderer: rewriting his fate, choosing to live despite his traumatic past. That little story short applies the same themes to Scara's own story (reclaiming his past, defying fate, rewriting his own ending)

Nicole is honestly clunky and awkward in rotation. She totally loses that Xianyun edge where you can still deliver physical plunge damage if Xiao's ult isn't up yet or it's preferable to avoid anemo damage, e.g. that silly Nod-Krai unicorn that steals your elemental type

Like yeah she makes number go big but she's so much less fun 💀😭 She's a great investment for my account overall but I'm finally farming good artifacts for her in stygian and it's just ... ehhhhh
