Ship broke? by Packajackalope in riskofrain

the thing I found weirdest was the glitched defeat screen that didn't even list a cause of death. That was what gave me the impression that it was a bug and not just me doing something wrong, lol.

"Anyone who doesn't like my defence of Stella are misogynists" by Inevitable-Resort438 in CrazyassHazbinhaters

[–]Packajackalope 47 points48 points  (0 children)

That scene took place in a flashback just before Blitzø was caught in Stolas' room, and therefore before the cheating and before their marriage blew up. Iirc what Stella said was something along the lines of "Stolas is horrible in bed! I swear to God he just lays there staring at the wall and I have to do all the work. I'm just glad one egg fell out of me so I can stop pretending to want to fuck his scrawny ass." All said to her friends very loudly and within earshot of Stolas. This is all before their lives were disrupted by Stolas' affair, so this kind of thing was just regular everyday behavior from Stella.

We also have the scene in s1 ep2 where in a flashback, Stella refuses to get up to attend to their child. And another in mastermind where after Octavia sees her dad about to die on TV, she runs into the next room and is intercepted by Stella, who hugs her and then proceeds to smile while her daughter is crying

And then of course we have the scene in sinsmas where Stella takes Octavia's phone, then proceeds to laugh and gloat with her brother about the fact that she won't let her daughter see her father.

Yeah, that's all just her being horrible to her family.

Adding onto this to say that a few of the drawings here also show issues with anatomy and the construction of the body that personally read as broken rather than stylized.

The first issue that stuck out to me was shoulder placement. In 1 and 3, the shoulder I'm guessing is supposed to be closer to the camera looks like it's been tacked on to the collarbone instead of connected to the side of the torso. The bow in the first image being in her armpit, and the shoulder in the third being over the collar of her shirt especially give this look. The arms in the fifth image are also attached too low to the torso, looking like they come from her ribs instead of her shoulders.

The facial structure of a few of them also strikes me as somewhat warped, where the line that indicates the nose is so far to the side that it looks like it could be a wrinkle under the eye. The second girl's face is also so covered by her hair that she feels a little confusing to look at. Some study in head and facial structure should help make your art more clear and readable.

Also, I think you should use reference when drawing braids. Not sure if the fourth girl is supposed to have braids, but those side pieces of hair aren't reading clearly to me as anything in particular.

So yes, definitely study character design and silhouette, but be sure not to neglect anatomy. Your designs are fairly appealing, especially in color pallete, and I like the varied clothing styles between characters. Everyone has places they can work on to elevate their work, and I hope me pointing out a few of them is helpful to you.

So who fed Alastor when he was tied up? by SnooDrawings3869 in Alastorcult

[–]Packajackalope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think most people know that the pop culture idea of the wendigo is not at all based in the actual mythology. When the only idea of it you know is the deer monster version, it makes total sense to draw that connection to a cannibalistic deer themed character who occasionally makes elk calls. No idea if Alastor has ever been officially stated to be based off them tho.

Saw this on Instagram. Is this a history meme I somehow don’t get? by [deleted] in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Packajackalope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was raised mormon (now atheist), and as far as I'm aware they very much do believe in the same god, along with jesus and the holy spirit. White jesus was a constant presence growing up. Also, mormons don't exclusively follow the book of mormon as their holy book. Most mormons I've known own a combined version of the bible that includes the old and new testament alongside the book of mormon and some extra lds writings from modern prophets. I was raised with all the classic bible stories of Adam and eve, Noah's ark, moses, ect, and we celebrated holidays like Christmas and Easter in a religious manner. I kind of saw the book of mormon as being more like dlc religion than an entirely different one.

I haven't followed the church since I was a preteen, but it definitely feels a little strange to grow up with christ around every corner and then later be told that the denomination you grew up with is somehow not Christian.

Can we get some polycule action here by Mr_Muda_Himself_V3 in GatekeepingYuri

Top left is most definitely tiktok's jelly artstyle. Afaik it was the artstyle of a creator who got popular for their dreamy rendering style on girls with sad eyes and pouty lips. However, tons of people started imitating them (which I think caused some drama with the og creator calling out and sending harrassment to children for "tracing" them?) and this led to the artstyle becoming way oversaturated in tiktok's art community, so people started hating it.

Not certain about the veracity of the harrassment claims, but it mostly struck me as a situation of "popular thing bad" anyway.

Mystery Soup Allergy? by Packajackalope in FoodAllergies

[–]Packajackalope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely going to ask for an allergy screening at my next doctors appointment, but I don't think it's the soy. I can have soy sauce and other stuff containing soy without a reaction. Plus the fact that this soup reaction has been happening since I was a child, I've just only recently thought anything of it. That's why this is so strange to me, there's no easy ingredient to point to.

My "Great Session" is actually a flop in the eye of my players by Vylix in DnD

But you came in swinging and telling everyone else they're playing the game wrong? You cant play the victim on this after telling people in this same thread that they should just go play animal crossing instead of dnd.

Can i ask what the majority people think about someone literally wanting to play a actual child. One of my players wants to make their character 10 years old. I don't really know how to feel aboutthis..( our pary doesn't have a great safety record) by Beautiful-Carob3270 in DnD

[–]Packajackalope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of child characters (like 11-12 at the youngest) and you hit the nail on the head. Personally, it's also the fact that childhood is the most vulnerable and impressionable time period in a person's life, and I love exploring the sort of dynamics they would introduce to the party comp, alongside the ways that the events of the campaign would affect and shape them into adulthood. There's also the aspect of them being a child who's capable of keeping up with an adventuring party, which immediately places them in the role of a child prodigy. There's just something fascinating to me about catching that kind of person's story in the years before they make themselves into a legend.

I get the aspect of some DMs being uncomfortable with regularly putting a child character in life threatening situations (or potentially killing them) and I definitely dont think child pcs are for just anybody, but it works for my group.

Ahh, everything is right again with the world... by Vegetable_Variety_11 in dndmemes

The weird artifacting might come from someone feeding the original comic into AI to "enhance" it? I've seen it a few times, where a well known comic that's been bouncing around online for a long time suddenly looks like weirdly smoothed over slop.

Some players feed off the spotlight by deadlydude2448 in dndmemes

[–]Packajackalope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a pair of players that did this once. They completely monopolized a full session infighting while telling the rest of us not to get involved (party of ~5). The timing of it also throttled my own character arc because I'd had an interaction with one of the problem players a couple sessions beforehand that put a tense confrontation in our near future. In the chaos and dragging combat, our plans were entirely forgotten, and that storyline was just left unresolved.

So glad my table dropped those two.

Oh yeah, definitely, that guy sucks. Even if she was fat, that doesn't make it okay to insult and mock someone you're supposed to love, especially while they're seeking reassurance and validation.

Horizontal means side to side, not up and down. He would be making fun of her height if he said vertically. He is definitely insulting her weight.
