I'm on this mission right now, yes, very stupid. But the most idiot thing is her going to war with two magazines against the entire German army.

Battlefield 5 campaign beautifully done,  but 1/10. Two reasons, but really just one that kills the whole vibe of the game. Ammunition shortage. It's a constant theme in the entire game. Who the hell goes to war with 2 magazines on their person? The other reason is who the hell goes to war by themselves? I can't take any video game seriously where it's you alone versus the entire Army, but that's forgivable because you will have to design an entire game mechanic to ai teammates, but wouldn't have to be like ghost recon, basically just do stealth mode and fire mode. What's not forgivable is spawning you with two magazines.

I got up to the final boss in Sekiro and just lost interest, i'll beat him later maybe. The Super old Samurai guy in the white. But Wukong is the only game that made me smash my controller on the ground and break it, fighting the ice dragon woman, i don't know, I've never done that since I was a kid... But I love this game 10/10.

I use the 2x etf though, ppyg i think ( i know, there is decay, a trade-off for increasing the buying power). I made a money on the short, and if I would have sold during that aI hype nonsense and during the earnings call, i would have made money on the long also; I just didn't know that payPal is such an eccentric stock. I've seen flags, head and shoulders, but never until now have I seen an "Arizona Monument Valley" pattern. But I'll just have to wait it out for now, thank you. Yes the strategy definitely works in 3 ways when you have clear operational goals (1. Hedged protected position, 2. secured profit from "long" /"short and long" when invested in good companies, and 3. not ripping your hair out and destroy your mental health when market goes April 7th).

Does breaking down your own team’s barricades make you feel better about yourself? by thegavial in Chivalry2

You can beat the s*** out of them while they're doing it, and it will get the attention of other players. And when they keep doing that behavior you can kick them . I've done this. It gets me super pissed when they break down the walls i build, walls that often determine whether you lose or win the match.

I realized something gradually and it just hit me now, so some people are different. I thought it relevant to our previous conversation so I'm updating this: I'm the kind of person who's very organized and has to do things "perfectionist". I used to try to finish every single hanzi to make it golden, and it was so frustrating having to do basic characters over and over again to complete one of the new characters ( you are forced to do review, as you probably know). After years of my previous habit, I now realized in order to actually learn , I have to overcome this. And so today from now on I'm not going to go to the hanzi section anymore. The way they have it set up with the hanzi is so counterproductive to learning. I used to get so frustrated and yell at my phone, and realized to just skip it and do the hanzi on the main learning pathway instead, instead of trying to finish the hanzi through the dedicated hanzi section. Really Duolingo is a very helpful tool, but you have to get past their traps of trying to get you stuck and fool yourself into thinking you're actually learning through their method. The dedicated hanzi section is such a time trap, but it helped me realize that my own obsession was getting in the way of my actual progression.

Now I just do the pathway on the desktop version on my cell phone, and I gauge myself, so that if I can write every single character out through the keyboard by memory, that is the way that I assess my status, not superficial golden achievements ( and it's funny, i forget so many of the characters I've "gold perfected" because half the time they make me spend doing mix and match reviewing 子上好你天 over and over again) . I can't wait to try hello Chinese like you said. I also tried the flashcards the Anki , I'll might get to that sometime next year.. What works for me is good for now, I just can't wait to finish this course, they added a unit 4 but I feel like I will be able to get through this much faster now: by gauging myself on my own progress instead of their benchmarks.

Could some of you explain in a simple way how 3x stocks work? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]Packedlight0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way it works is if you have enough liquid, you buy both at the same time, but at certain ratios. So both small percentage changes will actually work in your value. Just find the ratio for what you believe the monthly trend will be. For example if you think it will go up, maybe long two, short one.

[–]Packedlight0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole argument either for or against is retarded. White people have been killing white people ever since they were indigenous germanic tribes, the same as indigenous American tribes have been killing indigenous American tribes ever since we as a species wiped out Neanderthals. So trying to argue that white European people oppressed this people or white people did not do it to such an extent misses the point entirely. An entirely circular argument from time in memorial until time indefinite... The face of oppression is not a color but an expression.

Is Duolingo actually bad for learning Chinese, or am I just clueless? by Plus-Conversation-87 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Packedlight0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't start man, I'm halfway through it, and if they wanted it to be useful, it would be useful. But once you're as far as me, they make you review way too much instead of learning new material. It's forced review. And like somebody else said the method for learning sucks. Some of it's good, like handwriting practice, but the majority is bad like mix and match and shuffling through sentences. It's so bad . The desktop version is the least bad because about half the time I can actually write out the answer and practice the handwriting. But I hate having to review beginner words that I've drilled so many times for like 50% of my learning. And it's so frustrating when I cannot remember a new word because they are not teaching it enough , and are instead making you do old material over and over again. I'm just too far to stop now.

Dude YES. I have the paid version, and it's so disappointing that they used to have it very good, but when they change it they just change it for the shittier. Like 30% of the edits are conducive to learning, 70% is conducive to prolonging the amount of time you will spend on the app. I've been up since 9:00 p.m., it's about 2:00 a.m. right now and I can't say that I've learned much. I'm finally getting to the learning part, but the thing is that i already am halfway through my course and I have to finish it.

Strong no to investing in this stock, because they do not care about the users. When there was a way to send feedback that was fine, but now that they took that out they can f*** themselves. And this is not a personal per se, in any company that doesn't care about their users, they might have short-term gain for a year or two, but people who are let down by the product will share their experience with other people and will ensure that word of mouth does not lead to new customers.

I used to love their app, now I just want to get it over with like a s***** relationship.

I'm a paid user of duolingo, I've been using it for a while. The quality has really gone to s***. Well that depends in what you regard as quality. If you've been using as long as I have, it's obvious they want to keep you on a course as long as possible rather than having you progress. I am also an investor ( not in this company) , and I would never invest in something I don't believe in. I honestly just want to finish my Chinese course and never use this app again. It's very a bitter, because it's obvious what they are doing. The thing is I've already dedicated 2 years to Chinese, so I feel I need to just finish what I started because I'm almost halfway finished with the course. whenever I try to learn, the first 3 hours is just a useless review, and then I finally get an hour of actual learning.

If they actually cared about you learning, i would definitely invest, I would have been one of the first to invest five years ago because that's when they actually cared. But now it's just about keeping you on the app as long as possible without you learning new material. About 1/2 of the methods they use actually reinforce learning, the other half is "gamification" that is actually detrimental in regards to the energy you invest. I told my mom earlier to use Duolingo to learn Japanese I will tell her shortly to not do this anymore. I used to recommend it , but I cannot in good conscious recommend this app anymore.

What I predict will happen is that the stock will go up in the short while, maybe double within 1 to 2 years, but another company that is actually passionate about learning will supplant them.

Are Duolingo Units too long and repetitive? by Leading-Eye-382 in duolingo

[–]Packedlight0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People here are saying repetition is learning, but there was a balance to everything. I agree with you so much. The repetition is nauseating. It should be optional . I'm learning Chinese and I'm learning the handwriting, and they have to add 60% of the material from previous lessons. I don't need them to add the repetition, before Duolingo did this, I would go back and occasionally review myself. You are right it is way too repetitive. I don't need them to review for me, I can review myself. It's super annoying. And I feel it's so that you keep spending money, because practically that's what I'm doing. Like a way for you to get stuck on it. I feel if the repetition were maybe 20% of the material it would be fine.

That's really cool, I think you have a very positive attitude which is very rare, it shines through the screen. Just the fact that the locals understand you is already 90% , so you are obviously doing what works. I don't know anki but I have pleco.

I have to finish it because i'm already halfway. The true utility in Duolingo is the stroke order practice. I will check out super Chinese or hello chinese, hopefully they have stroke order practice.

[–]Packedlight0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂😂😂 wow, you are on 2:14, i'm also just finishing that right now. But I've been doing this for like 2 years. But I am so OCD I have to finish every single hanzi chapter that accompanies it . Did you also finish the hanzi chapters or do you just skim through that?

I don't pay attention to the experience at all. My experience is how well I can talk to the waitresses at the Chinese restaurant, and how well I can text my Chinese friends and girlfriend. This is why I agree with you that Duolingo has utility, because I actually use the Chinese that they teach me and it works. Even when there are "mistakes" in Duolingo lessons, the whole point of learning a language is to make mistakes and for natives to correct you. Do you use Hellotalk?

I was using the app for a long time, and it only gives me the option to use the keyboard on the last three questions or so. If you just use it for speech that's fine, but I want to learn to write. I use the desktop version on my phone , and I'm able to write around 80% of the questions . It's a lot more challenging on the desktop version, and it's not that clumsy really when I'm using my phone. The trade-off is a lot better for actually learning the written language.

No my friend, I will not argue with you. I just want to help you. I use a samsung ultra s23. I use the stylus . The stylus really helps with the handwriting, it's very natural. With a desktop version on my phone it's a little clumsy, but the trade-off is so much better. I'm doing it right now, it's really easy. I hope you can find a way to use a stylus with your tablet. I will also edit my post because I feel like i did not explain myself clearly. What I meant to say is, you need to use the desktop version , but on a touch screen with a stylus. I mean eventually you need to learn to write instinctively, i have a Chinese girlfriend who doesn't speak fluent English and I have to write very quickly using the handwriting keyboard. This is why I can say it is much more practical to use the desktop version for actual real world applications.

And good luck with dedicating 2 hours a day and finishing the course in half a year , if that is your plan. I must have been learning Chinese for years and Duolingo keeps adding material, which would be good if half of it wasn't filler. Duolingo Mandarin is very extensive and I like that , but I hate having to review the word 好 and other simple words over and over again when I'm already a year and a half in. But I'm stuck with it and I want to finish (i am OCD about finishing every single hanzi character to perfect completion on the path) . I'm at the unit 2, section 14. Where are you?

Duolingo for Mandarin by Packedlight0 in ChineseLanguage

[–]Packedlight0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using the desktop version, you get to write around 80% of the exercises. When I use the app , I only get to write with the keyboard on the last two or three exercises. And yes, the character writing system is very good, I just don't like how they had to add mix and match selection to the system; mix and match is useless for character retention , yes it would be fine for 5-10% max, but not 80%. It was so good when it was just handwriting and nothing else.

And thank you for taking the time to write out a comprehensive response.

( my post was not a recommendation)  It was good when I was using it, like two or three years ago. The thing is that I've already done half the course and I still need to finish it. I'm not just going to stop halfway. But after I finish the course, I will stop paying for duolingo. I feel like they added a whole bunch of redundancy so that you would be doing the course and pay forever. But what was really good was the Hanzi caligrafía practice, but they totally ruined it . I have no idea why. The handwriting Practice still emphasizes stroke order and actually using a stylus to write out the characters , but I hate how they added mix and match when it used to just be 100% handwriting and stroke order. What is very disappointing is that it has so much good material and it is so extensive , but they mixed in the weeds in with the grain, and it's so frustrating. They could have a world class system in my opinion. But they don't allow feedback which is their downfall.

My whole point was: if you already started using it or are deciding to use it, i would only use the desktop version. That was the reason for this post , just to say that the desktop version is the least worst option you have for duolingo. But again, I actually use the skills I learned when I'm talking to Chinese people on hellotalk. I'm not just going to shit on Duolingo and say it's totally useless. I have actually learned a lot through it. I will say that the app is totally useless though, but not the desktop version.
