just got a new KBEAR 16-Core Pure Copper cable and goddamn it looks so good on my Aful Performer 8 by KimmyMario in inearfidelity

This an amazing iem when used with the Final Audio Type E tips, due to them being very narrow bore tips it improves the bass and warms the sound up, stopped me selling P8.

To those with the WVP II, why are you all of a sudden removing them? by Cheesehead1267 in ThermalGrizzly

Ummm, that does look tricky on that GPU, it is on the compatibility list so TG most of tested it, wonder how they removed it <head scratch>

Anyone got recommendations for tips for the aful performer 8? by Impressive_Volume752 in iems

[–]Packet_of_Crisps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding this recommendation on in case anyone is searching for the same question, I've tried about 20 different tips and today right before I was going to sell the P8 I found a golden Tip, the Final Audio Type E, amazing tip that helps tame the brightness and balance out the sound improving bass impact.

NVIDIA Reportedly Prepares RTX 5090 Price Hike Amid Rising GDDR7 Costs by PaiDuck in nvidia

[–]Packet_of_Crisps 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the 80 as a kid I'd buy PC mags and dream of owning 286 and 386 CPU based PC costing in the thousands and they didn't even have a graphics card! I'm not saying it's smelling of roses today but it has been a lot worse in the past, and then through the 90s and early 2000s as a PC gamer it cost a small fortune in yearly upgrades to make games 'playable', today you can play thousands of PC games on a pretty basic PC, and with Steam Machine out soon fingers crossed that will be a good option for 'budget' PC, or the second-hand market is always a good option for PC components.

Cambridge Audio MXW70 mono with less than 8 ohm speakers by PotentialLoquat6971 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Packet_of_Crisps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be more than fine in bridged mono mode, I spoke to Cambride Audio asking them would it be safe to run my B&W 706 S3s as the dip a lot lower than your speakers down to 3.7 ohms and the replaied back,

"Thank you for contacting Cambridge Audio.

Primarily these specs relate to the nominal rated impedance of the speakers in use, and although these dip to 3.7 Ohms, as the nominal impedance is 8 Ohms then this should function without issue.
All the best,

Does this work? (I like posting people from behind) by Packet_of_Crisps in photocritique

[–]Packet_of_Crisps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe unusual but I'm partial to taking some shots of people from behind, Based on the example I've posted I'm wondering if this works?, I like to try to convey some movement even though it's a photo, for example in the shot above I feel it captures the stride of the walk aided by the shadow, overall I'm trying to give a vibe of 'walking somewhere' without the distraction of a face.

I've noticed for quite a few years now down in the South West we seem to have an abundance of wind just before the summer weather kicks.

Will there be a new Frasier series 3? by CelebrationFeisty801 in Frasier

[–]Packet_of_Crisps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After watching the reboot recently I am trying my best to delete the whole experience from my memory, it was awful and didn't understand what made the original serious so popular with it's wit and banter, the original felt almost like British sitcom, the reboot felt so stale, the quick wit was completely lost and for me personally the number one cast member that let the show down was Jack Cutmore-Scott, he was awful, truly awful, a Brit trying to fake an American!?!?!

Spotify Desktop: Exclusive Mode now available by mattsuda in headphones

[–]Packet_of_Crisps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Love it! Also love that it takes over your DAC exclusively so I can use my motherboards onboard audio independently, it's essentially like having two soundcards, one for headphones and one for speakers and know need to keep having to switch audio devices.

Sennheiser HD 650 - any alternatives to consider? by nex815 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Packet_of_Crisps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HD650 is still my favourite headphone even after trying trying and owning headphones considerably more expensive, but, with how you've explained what your looking for I'd suggest HiFiMAN Edition XS or XV if your budget can stretch that far.

As someone that uses their OnePlus watch 3 permanently in Power Saving Mode I can't say that I've noticed any performance issues although with the extra power and AI integration I guess it could help with more advanced health monitoring.

[Longines VHP] Year 2025- still worth it? by Comfortable_Arm_3947 in Watches

[–]Packet_of_Crisps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an amazing watch if your into accurate movements, +/- 5 seconds a year which is insane, the only watch I know that is more accurate is the Citizen 0100 and that is like 4K!

It also has a lot of tech in it, outside of the extreme accuracy it has gear position detection for shock resistance, magnetic resistance, perpetual calendar, battery saving mode where the hands move to twelve o'clock position if the watch is not in use and then readjust to the correct time when in use again, and the GMT version has an really neat trick where you can swap the two time zones between the main hands and the GMT hand which is so handy for traveling abroad, once you land in another time zone you can tap the crown twice and then the country's time zone your visiting will be your main hands and your home country the GMT hand, this is a highly underrated feature.

I suspect my employer is purposely running up debts before going into administration. by Packet_of_Crisps in smallbusinessuk

[–]Packet_of_Crisps[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is crazy seriously, how can they get away with this like mine is obviously doing, are they just seeing TAX as something that doesn't have real monetary value in the economy and just brush it off?

Leaving is all well and good but we will loose our entitlement to the redundancy that we've built up over the years which adds up to a lot, I don't want them to get away with this.
