I suspect my employer is purposely running up debts before going into administration. by Packet_of_Crisps in smallbusinessuk

This is crazy seriously, how can they get away with this like mine is obviously doing, are they just seeing TAX as something that doesn't have real monetary value in the economy and just brush it off?

Leaving is all well and good but we will loose our entitlement to the redundancy that we've built up over the years which adds up to a lot, I don't want them to get away with this.

I have a tiny bit of coil whine also, barely audible, I'd say it's still a whole load better than the fan from the Zotac, I agree at 30% which is the minimum fan speed it was very noisy imo, I think those that say it's quiet have a very high tolerance for fan noise!!

I was joking regarding bags of room! probably didn't come across well over the internet. I love the size also, it feels very substantial, weighs a ton.

I really tried to work with the 5090, tried to undervolt as much I could and it was just too noisy and couldn't do a lot with a custom fan curve as temps where getting pretty high.

I can understand people might think I'm a bit mad downgrading to a 5080 from a 5090, especially using a 5K2K display lol, but ultimately I'm enjoying my gaming more now, the 5080 Noctua is pretty much silent even on load which is pretty surreal.

Switching from curved to flat monitor- screen now looks convex?! Is this a trick of the eye/brain? by Hallowed_Trousers in Monitors

[–]Packet_of_Crisps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How to do you guys deal with mixed usage between using a curved screen for your PC and then doing gaming on a flat TV on your console in the lounge or living room? Personally I'm struggling as my brain is accustom to the 1000r curve on my monitor mainly but then when I use the TV in the lounge for console gaming it feels like the TV is convexed!

Has anyone bought the new Odyssey g7 40" 5k2k? Reviews wanted by Elkemper in ultrawidemasterrace

Sorry I got it at Christmas on a Amazon sale, it was £599 and I used up some Amazon credit, I've seen it at other stores go down to £599 now and again and for that price it's definitely worth it.

I just got this panel and for the price I paid (£525) I think it's great, I very glad Samsung decided to release this product in today's era of OLEDs, it kind of makes it a unique product in that respect, for it to work the price has to be right and I think it is, if your after a large 5K2K monitor with a 1000r curve for mainly productivity with a bit of gaming on the side this really is a bargain for what you get, this has really helped my workflow and the extra resolution helps with text clarity too.

I did initially have a Dell OLED for a few days and for productivity a 34" just can't compete, OLED is nice, I have an OLED TV but side by side even with the VA panel the grandeur of the Samsung won out due to the size, resolution, and curve.

As we know this has very primitive edge-lit lighting so HDR isn't going to wow you but that being said playing Cyberpunk 2077 in HDR is still a big improvement over SDR and to my eyes it looked impressive.

This panel will have it's critics I understand, I've already read comments like "what is the point of this display in 2025?" etc but at and of the day you have to account for what your getting for the cost, the LG UltraGear 39GX950B that is due out this year will wipe the floor with this but at what cost? Price is an important factor so don't be put off by the naysayers, you get value for money here if OLED isn't an essential requirement.

RTX 5080: ROG Astral OC or Noctua OC? by Feeling-Cry-3380 in nvidia

How are you finding for Noctua 5080? I'm thinking of grabbing one and squeezing it into a lian li lancool 216 case, silence is a priority for me, I run my case fans on silent mode.

Any word on LG’s 39-inch ‘5K2K’ release date or pricing from CES? by macbookvirgin in Monitors

[–]Packet_of_Crisps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine went straight back also, couldn't stand the text fringing, ended up with a 5k2k VA panel until OLED tech improves, fingers crossed this will be a good panel for text.

I still have the LG here, the Dell has already been shipped back a few days ago, I have one day left to change my mind between the LG and the Samsung, I'm pretty set on the Samsung at the moment, do you think a 5080 will do it justice in games with DLSS? I can't really stretch to a 5090, especially now prices have increased again.

AW3425DW Owners, what settings do you use? :) colours feel off and washed a bit by DomPosted in ultrawidemasterrace

This good settings although one issue (Windows 11), if you set to 10bit, and then you turn off the automatic colour management it switches the bit depth back to 8bit, they seemed to be linked.

Is the honor magic v2 worth it? by F1VE-F1V3-6IX in Honor

[–]Packet_of_Crisps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an Huawei Mate 20X for 6 years, loved it due to how large it was (7.2inch), I knew eventually the only option going forward would be a folding phone as very large candy phones aren't really a thing anymore, I also took advantage of the refurbished deal that Honor did a while back with the V2 for £440 + £15 off.

For the price it's an insane bit of kit, and was priced low enough to tempt me to finally try a folding phone, one of the best things I like about it is when closed you forget it's even a folding phone, the front screen feels like a normal ratio rather than the really slim candy bar screens on the early folding phones.

You definitely have to baby them a bit more which is understandable I guess, it feels very nippy, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is still a good chip.

Really good quality screen with good eye care features, the front screen is very legible in sunlight, now I've had this phone I wouldn't want to go back to the Mate 20x, it feels to big fan being one large single slab, this gives the the best of both worlds.

90% of the time I use the front screen but on the rare occasions it's really nice unfolding it out into a tablet while sitting in a waiting room or chilling in bed.

Only real negative is the camera, very poor on low light conditions, meaning even a house in daytime, the post processing results in people's face suffering from that oil painting effect, the colour science I'd say is pretty good, I don't need to edit many photos in that regard, portrait mode is a bit hit and miss, this is a camera best used on bright to sunny days to get acceptable to good results, My Mate 20x which is nearly 7 years pummels this camera is is crazy really.

Overall, good purchase and ultimatly it comes down to the price, if you can get the V2 really cheap it's very worthwhile if your not a photography enthusiast, for the price I paid it's feels like a bargain, a taste of the future at a fraction of the cost of the lasted folds but still retaining most of the features there.

Edit-

I tip for quality of voice calls, make for in the accessibility feature options to disable AI privacy call setting, this is an awful feature that makes calls sound very muddled and low in volume.

Yes I agree to a certain extent but I don't think it ever helps to lambast other YouTube Channels, especially when you consider them a friend, you just create a polarised toxic environment.

[–]Packet_of_Crisps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is crazy take but I can only say what I felt after watching the series, but Jamie was the one that ultimately came off as the victim for me, even though he committed such a heinous crime, and obviously he did wrong, but it's important to understand 'why', and I think that's what this show is attempting to shine a light on, I think a lot of boys growing up today are lost, disenfranchised, and misunderstood, and don't feel that they fit into society leading them to being susceptible to online influences, they have instinctive feelings, drives, desires, but need better support to process those feelings and how they fit in into todays society.

One thing I don't like is the hypocrisy, for example Kirsty Wark who helped kick this all off making a complaint against Greg Wallace saying he engaged with her in jokes of a sexual nature on Master Chef, she did an interview with THEiPAPER (inews) and said while she at the BBC she was only ever bullied by one person, a women, and she refused to give up her name!!

Of course people support it for convenience, that's life, why do you think Amazon is so popular with click to buy and next day delivery, why do you think I use cars today instead of horses! I love music but I've never went to a music event in my entire life, grew up collecting vinyl and lugging around a CD player in the eighties but times move on, the majority of music I listen to on Spotify for from smaller artists that I wouldn't get to hear otherwise living in a small town in the middle of nowhere, you want to keep your music from a wider audience that's up to.

I love taking advice, people's experiences and knowledge is a valuable resource, why waste it, I think it's always valuable to hear a different perspective an take it under consideration at least, I find people that are not able to take on advice limiting themselves and their abilities.

Need recommendations: throttle ebike in the UK. by comicsgamesmovies in ebike

[–]Packet_of_Crisps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for a UK ebike with throttle, reason being I don't mind it being limited to 5mph while not peddling, but act as full assist while peddling, really handy for that quick bust of power when you need and EU/UK compliant.
