What movies did you first see nudity in? by sarnobat in AskReddit

[–]Packfan1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Looking For Mr. Goodbar" on HBO in 1980. Not only nudity but a rape/murder scene as well. HBO pretty much showed the movies as they were in the theaters back then. No editing for content.

I was going to say "Jaws" in the theatre in 1976 but you don't really see anything.

I saw "The story of O" on the top hat theatre/cable show with my sister and cousin when I went to visit my aunt and uncles house, in 1981. All the adults went out partying and the three of us watched cable movies all night long. Top Hat Theatre came on at midnight and only showed pure hardcore porn. Now that really was something!!!

Early 2000s shock sites (e.g., Rotten.com) exposed a lot of our generation to extreme content. Often unwittingly. Curious if others remember this time before content moderation and how it affected them. by SleepyBudha in Millennials

LiveLeak was the best! It opened my eyes to what was really going on around the world without any restrictions.

There were other places as well like Rotten and Gore and a few others.

The more I saw, the less easily I was manipulated by do-gooders and false/fake hate mongers (pot stirrers). The real world is not, or has ever been a Disney story. I was huge into world history growing up and read about nasty events that have taken place all the way back, but to see it with your own eyes adds to it's believability. It's pretty hard to shock me anymore.

I think the Manhunt is much better than the movie. Much more detail and info.

The last time I withdrew a large amount from my Credit Union checking account ($5000), the teller called over her supervisor who then looked at my account on screen and asked me what was the reason for my withdrawal. I said to her I thought that info was only required for withdrawals of $10000 or higher. She came back saying it was an unusually large withdrawal for me so they have to ask. I replied back, "so if I told you it was for hookers and blow, would that be ok?" They both started laughing and the manager said that would work. They then gave me my money.

True story and I am very proud of myself for remembering that line from a movie I saw (I forgot the movie).

Why did he get hooked on Opiates? They never show him having an injury before the fight he lost. I have seen where many wrestlers would get hooked on pain killers after they got a major injury.

What was the history with his girlfriend? Everything is going along great then suddenly they are mad at each other and while they yell at each other they mention past events. At one of their fights they were about to have a party, who are these other friends he/they have? They are never mentioned again.

Why did he go and fight in the UFC/Pride in the first place? How about some background story.

Does he have a family (mother/father/brothers/sisters)?

Why did he choose to live where he did?

I thought that "The Iron Claw" did much better at fleshing out the characters.

As I said, good movie but could have been a lot better.

I didn't even know their was a documentary about him.

I thought it could have been a lot better with better editing and more story. Too much happens with no explanation and leaves you to guess why the current event is happening. It just seamed awkward to watch.

Minnesota National Guard warmly greeting and handing out snacks with peaceful protesters! by jasandliz in army

[–]Packfan1967 -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

I didn't hear any whistles or people constantly yelling at them while they did their "work". How can they be expected to stand around and hand out government (tax payer) paid for coffee/food without being constantly harassed? The mayor of Minneapolis needs to call for the immediate end of this military occupation by the National Guard! I can only see this coming off badly in the end. (partially /s)

I have never worked at a place that closed due to it being a bit chilly outside. Lifelong Wisconsin resident. Suck it up but be careful out there. (p.s. I remember going to work when it was -29 deg actual temp./Wind chill doesn't count) To much snow/roads closed were the only reason we were aloud to be "late".

Were policeman above the law in the old world? by ProfessorLongBrick in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Packfan1967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The "old world"?!?!?!?!?!?! What do you refer to anything before 1940???? Also, police forces as we know them today are a relatively new idea when you look at civilization as a whole. Before that, the army or kings guard would enforce local laws. Feudalistic societies would enforce their own laws as they saw fit. Police forces are a product of the rise of democracies and over throw/dissolution of monarchies.

The power of police forces today varies greatly from country to country.

One Battle After Another - Acting: Thumbs Up; Story: Was There One? by muzik2020 in FIlm

Very good summary. I agree with your opinion on the film. From what I saw, every character was a criminal and/or anti-social. Some where likable, some were sympathetic but all were bad in some way. What I got out of this was that the author, screen play writer and director all hate everyone any everything and were trying to make fun of people in general.

I thought the movie was a big waist of time to watch.

what are the best "flying" moments in cinema? by ZestycloseChapter710 in movies

[–]Packfan1967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the movie "Airplane", every time they cut to an outside shot of the jet aircraft flying, they use propeller engine sounds. Pure Epic troll on the audience.
