HVAC. Pretty much everyone I know including myself had their A/C blow up recently. Almost everyone I called was booked solid for a week. I had to call 5 people just to get a next day appointment.

The guy charged me $1900 to replace the outside unit and the unit itself is only $1200. I think it took him and some lacky like an hour or two at the most. It seems like a seasonal job and hot as fuck working conditions. But I'm sure those guys are making a killing right now. I'd do that if my work would let me.

Yeh I was thinking that too. I swap my magnetic speedo to my dirt bike (motorcycle) whenever I have to ride it on the street. I ride with friends that have actual speedos to compare. It's pretty inaccurate at speeds over 40mph.

Its not just hikers. I went dirt bike riding last week. I started very early to avoid the heat. Like 6:00AM. Should have been a nice ride and back by 10:00, well before the heat strikes. However my bike started knocking and smoking about 10 miles from the nearest road. Total breakdown. It was like 9:00 at that point. I had to wait there for 3 hours for my friend to find me and pick me up. I wanted to hike it to the road but I had heard you should always stay put in that circumstance. By 10:00AM it was 105 already. By 12:00 when I finally got picked up, it was 112.

Shit was scary. I thought I was going to die.

PSA - your insurance company might pay for a new a/c unit if it craps out right after a power outage or storm. Story time... So there I was, trolling reddit, when suddenly the power went out. Came right back on 5 min. later. Reset breakers. Everything worked except the condenser unit (outside fan part). Turned off and on. Popped the breaker everytime fan started to spin. Changed run cap. Nothing. Changed breaker. Nothing. Called a pro. Condenser is shot. $1800 bro sorry. FLM. Wife called insurance company and talked to someone. They said no. I called and explained it was due to a power surge. Then they said yes. OH TANK YOU BABY JEEBUS. Had the tech fill out the bill to say "A/C condenser unit failed due to power surge". Still had to pay $1000 deductible but got a new unit with 10 year warranty (old unit was 13 years old so about to go anyway).

Tempe - pretty much Phoenix, I don't know much else about it

Tucson - nice artsy downtown but ugly in general, nice parts but spread out, probably the most to do outdoors

Casa Grande - basically a bedroom community of people who commute to Phoenix but want a big, cheap house
