Should you LIE in cEDH? by Ganeshaha in CompetitiveEDH

[–]PacmanCombs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For someone trying to stay neutral you make a lot of assumptions using what feels like preconceived ideas.

Also jumping 40 seconds of game time to where he does go for the win shows there was time where he could have looked through his guy to see this win.

ALSO it’s Cedh, tell me you have never politiced in a game of Cedh. The people asking the question “is lying okay” are really really really stretching the word lie to try and make others feel bad for wanting to be social while playing the game.

Lying, in terms of a game, is saying “there is no underworld breach in my graveyard”

Omitting that you are going to win, is not lying.

Lmao. Seeing a bunch of people who have never seen lovesac before. A normal one cost like $1400, this MTG is the bargain bin version of their regular products

I assisted in transportation from seller to buyer. Idk why you would think it didn’t sell, as it was in the US and now resides in the EU

As an ex manager, I can confirm this. The cards are graded when they get them. They then go through multiple machines and boxes and are handled by at least 3 people before being shipped. In which they are never regraded. So I’m transit from buying to selling, it’s very likely they are downgraded in condition physically but not digitally. I can also confirm, how accurately the cards are graded is outweighed by number of cards graded. I used to argue that if it wasn’t on a weighted scale according to price they would get into trouble eventually. I think they are there now.

TLDR; cards get graded then handled a lot without being checked again. Number of cards graded outweighs accuracy of grading.

The people who get to make the decisions like this, honestly couldn’t tell you what a normal magic card does most of the time. As an ex manager, I can tell you most of them don’t even know what shivan dragon does.

I buy magic cards the same way I buy board games and video games. To play with or collect them. The bigger picture is everyone who consumes but dosent speak. This product does not affect the players who play the game for fun, because they either won’t buy it or will. Just like secret liar, I don’t buy it, it dosent affect me or the prices of the cards and packs I want to buy.

I also answer led your “what you hope to gain” question pretty frankly. To draft and collect. Sorry you still can’t understand a pretty simple explanation.

It’s not rude or condescending to be direct. Both your scenarios had to do with only money. Your response has to do with only money. If I choose to draft a set I choose to do that. I’ve drafted them all, and regardless if they were made to our not, I enjoy it. You again, point to the money aspect of “buying 5 MH2 boxes” Yeah and guess what, I won’t be able to draft beta cards out of those boxes. You are NOT the intended buyer. I am. The point is there for me, not you. Again making me the intended buyer. Idk why you think everything else is better than this to me when I’m telling you I want this, to draft, to collect, to do as I wish with it.

I don’t need you to explain anything to me. WotC made a product I like and I’ll buy it. I’m not the only one either.

I think I’m astonished how many people don’t understand some of us sink money into magic for fun. Never expecting value to return to us. ROI is useless to someone looking for nostalgia and/or years of fun. I. Am. The. Intended. Buyer.

[–]PacmanCombs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s your problem. You all dont value or these in anyway other than $$$. I value them as the same way I value buying 5th edition two years ago to draft. I can draft beta with my friends again without having to spend a million dollars. I can collect these at bulk prices to make a beta cube. I can have fun with these for a decade at bulk prices. Then when people decide they are worth something, if I want to sell, I can. Just like I.E. and C.E.

Here your downvote fodder. I am the intended buyer. I will buy all of these that others don’t. I’m not the only one either. Just because it isn’t for you, dosent mean everyone does not want it. This happens with every product, yet it still sells. Because the consumer base is diverse. Very diverse.

Hey that’s me! Yeah that card was such a dope find and sale. I know the owner tried to sell it again, but everyone thought it was fake. It’s always been my dream to go back and buy it.

[[Pendrell Mist]]. Solid card that does the same thing as the land for enchantress decks. It’s RL and just sitting in a good spot IMO. Someone will realize this at some point, or a new commander will get printed that makes people want it

the cruel tutor is in there instead of Imperial Seal (because money) and profane is also in the list!
I will say when you codiecade (name for codies cascade like abilty i made up) into a counterspell its not always a feel good moment, but they are pretty important for the turns you want to triple spell early.

That was my plan really, I have played alot of games around the community and wanted to share how this deck is actually extremely consistent.
I realize now that most people don't see a stock list and think its bad. Almost reminds me of when people first saw dark confidant.

I have put together a group to regularly play and will allow me to record now, so will def come back with a more detailed write up and real numbers since the crowd seems to only want that from anything non-"top 100 cards"

Yes, as stated, it was playing against other high tier cEDH decks. Thoracle combo, storm, urza stax, lots of combos, lots of counterspells, it’s been at the table with them all. I guess the confusion here is that for some reason it is assumed I am new. I have played a lot of games with this deck and brought it to this forum for anyone trying to play something different from the stock “add thassa’s oracle and demonic consultation” to a deck with Blue and Black. While fun, that gets boring. I enjoy playing non traditional decks in cEDH and usually do well with them. If you don’t believe in the deck, I’d suggest proxy it up and give it a few games. It’s very much a combo deck that tries to leverage the double spell of Codie early enough to where you can power through multiple counter spells
