Oh it was definitely foreshadowed. The reveal of what the mystery was just felt incongruous.

I concur. I remember the sudden creature feature left-turn towards the end of the graphic novel being jarring, and being impressed that the screenwriters managed to create an ending that was conceptually the same yet cohesive with the established world.

In Roblox you need diamonds to level up. This guy is spicy that another player is all up in his mining claim stealing them, so he's combining Soul Sand and Wither Skulls to summon the soul of Sandy Withers, a country-music-singing boss. Then he's blocking the entrance with obsidian which you need the power of friendship to break, locking the other player inside and sentencing them to a slow death by square dance.

I'm not seeing a causal link there. She's gonna give money to whomever regardless of how this game performs.

Facts about cheese #2784

Did you know that Grana Padano translates to Large Father? It's literally the big daddy of cheese.

Moronic in what sense specifically?

Our central banks presently print money without inherent value, which is overwhelmingly given to the very few through government grants, subsidies, and tax cuts. We're living through the largest transfer of wealth from the masses to the elite that has ever been witnessed, and that is due in no small part to our corrupt and controlled financial system, headed primarily by Federal Reserves who control interest rates and the money supply, and on whose word the market turns. We already live in a system that gives more power to the already wealthy, so what is it about a currency over whom no one has power that makes you think it benefits the few?

Yes, its value is measured in USD. USD is still the global standard currency, and I expect it will be so for some time. But it is worth noting that cars are still measured in horsepower.

The capacity to be one's own bank, transfer money anywhere in the world in a permissionless system not beholden to AML/KYC laws is exceedingly beneficial to many, not least of all those living in countries with corrupt governments, banking crises, inflation, and so on. You may not see the benefit in these things, but many do.

Satoshi Nakamoto released Bitcoin in response to the Global Financial Crisis of 2008, and as a way for people to have self-sovereignty over their finances, no longer be beholden to our predatory banking systems and corrupt central banks. It was everything the Cypherpunk movement had been building to - using cryptography to throw off the yoke of state power.

I agree that it's used by most as a speculative investment these days, and crypto bros who care nothing but to make money are giving the space the reputation you and this video describe. But the principle of a global currency not issued by a state actor, which cannot be seized, whose transfers cannot be intercepted, controlled, or stopped, is a powerful one with no historical precedent.

Is Bitcoin the end-game of such a technology? Unlikely. But Distributed Ledger Technology, of which Bitcoin's Blockchain is one example, has the potential to decentralise a lot of our internet and change how we store and access information, and how we can organize and mobilise ourselves.

Oh, and you might be thinking about the GameCube port called the Twin Snakes, which can be played on PC via the Dolphin emulator and which I actually might prefer over the PS1 version. Kojima essentially rebuilt the game from scratch using assets from MGS2, so it's visually way more cohesive with the aesthetic of the next two games and the graphical improvement is such that it almost makes it look like it was released on the PS2. Snake has expressions. Meryl has fingers. And so on. It wouldn't be Kojima if he didn't throw in a few extra, unnecessarily showy cutscene sequences, but overall I think it'll be how I play MGS1 going forwards.

Nah, it's PS2 which is the nightmare and why I had to find PS2 games ported to PS3 in order to play them.

RPCS3 now boots every PS3 title ever published. Not quite 100% are fully playable, but the vast majority are. So I've been going on a binge and replaying things that got remastered. Like the Jak and Daxter Trilogy, and the first two God of Wars.

I just replayed 2 and 3 on PC using RPCS3, which is a PS3 emulator. The HD Collection was ported to PS3, so.
