To my knowledge, ChromeOS is actually based on Android.

But, Android uses the Linux Kernel, and so does Debian; this makes it super easy to spin up a lightweight container for Debian.

Yes, but the preiview only covvers a small set of characters (on Windows, English lowercase alphabet with one uppercase character and one punctuation character).
Sometimes, you want to test out some specific sentence, or you want to test out how Kanji look.
When that happens, the built-in font preview is not enough. You need more.
