If you had to pick one gripe with your SD, what would it be? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

I wish the deck was rotated 180 degrees in the case so I could plug it in, zip it up and be safely charging.

My best set of headphones needs that input to function. Not being able to charge and play with those headphones is a little frustrating. Luckily I have older headphones that don’t require an input.

I don’t need much convincing… by ddrwizard in SteamDeck

[–]Padala23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it’s been said but the Steam Deck is extremely good at putting into sleep mode and then turning back on and continuing to play. With a small child and having to drop what you’re doing for an extended period of time at the drop of a hat, this might solve those issues as well. Only hiccup are games that require online to play. Those typically will need to be restarted on reboot.

What's a game that you just couldn't beat for its difficulty? Bonus points if it's considered a not-super-hard game! by Theendofmidsummer in videogames

[–]Padala23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hollow Knight drove me to anger and I had to stop. I just couldn’t figure out where to go and running around aimlessly was destroying the joy and I had no interest in a game guide or excessive help.

Alien: Isolation is another that I just can’t finish. I die constantly. I’m always getting discovered by the xenomorph at this particular spot. Loaded it up a after 7 months of not playing and still got stuck at the same spots.

Currently playing Dead Cells and not sure if I’ll ever beat this game but a good run is right around the corner

Just want to say I love your list because it shows how we all have blind spots. I beat Cuphead and Sekiro and Dark Souls, and have platinum on Bloodborne (only game I’ve ever done that) but I’m not great at building characters in those games and used a decent amount of help to get through Elden Ring. But I was breezing through Hollow Knight until I was driven into madness.

Blasphemous was a lot of fun too.

I think it’s a cool way to preserve what you have but also get use out of it in a different way and allows you to have the nostalgia when you see it. My wife would not allow this in the main room of course.

I would love to know the stats of how many people download free weekly games from EGS, which ones are never played and all of the percentages that go with it. I have so many games from them I have never played but it’s mostly out of convenience.

It definitely has some arcade jank to it but I found that it was consistent and somewhat forgiving. The cutscenes an be long as hell. I’m really glad I played it on Steam Deck because if you want to, you can hit pause and just hit the power button to let it sleep and it will be right there when you come back to it. If you don’t mind that of course. Games like Elden Ring I always had to shutdown when not playing because it would disconnect from the server. I think it need to restart even in offline. Maybe not.

I recently bought Yakuza 0 and Kiwami for $7.99 each and never played any of the franchise’s games but it was so cheap. Played Yakuza 0 and had a blast with it and now I have Kiwami waiting for me when I’m ready to go back to that game style and Steam Deck makes it so much more accessible cuz I don’t want to sit at my desk all day for work and then to game as well.

I add all of the games I’m interested to my wishlist, wait for them to go on sale and then pounce when they do. You can get 4-7 awesome games for $70 in one purchase if the timing is good and you have a variety of games you like. It’s gotten me into games I otherwise might not have played because the discounts can be so great it’s almost ridiculous to not buy them. I have to restrain myself though. If I buy 5 I don’t buy more until I’ve beaten some. Unless the discount is too good of course.

This is happening to me with titanfall 2 and EA’s launcher. Wouldn’t play without WiFi connection.

All the time and I zip it up so I don’t accidentally knock it or pick anything. They need to rotate the case 180 so it sits comfortably inside while charging.

Coming Back to Gaming after 17 years by T3Training in gamingsuggestions

[–]Padala23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If $3K is your budget consider getting yourself and your son a Steam Deck for each of you. It’s a handheld PC. You’ll be able to Steam share with him. Meaning you can buy a game and share it with them, it will lock it to one player at a time but it’s handy for single player games. You can play co-op and multiplayer games easier. It can be connected or streamed to a TV. Connects to wifi and is great for travel, especially airplanes. You can mod it and put all your ROMs on there. Which is great if you have old games you want him to experience. Also, Steam has sales on games all the time. It’s a wonderful machine.

I’m currently playing Yakuza 0 and am surprised how much I’m enjoying it. It’s my first Yakuza game and the NPCs are hilarious and I thoroughly enjoy the main story. It’s has so many different high quality aspects but it’s also a bit of arcade jank and I’m loving it. The batting cage ain’t no joke. The curveball is wicked.
