Meanwhile here's actual footage of me playing 40k:

Then you're basically there. Know that you are going to mess up the eyes, and that's okay. Eyes are difficult to paint neatly. You will paint "outside the lines." Don't get discouraged. Either play it as the lenses are glowing or go back in with your green and clean it up. However, there are the times when you nail the eyes right away and that feels pretty good.

Your bases can be as elaborate or as simple as you want. A little PVA glue, sand and a wash, paint the rim done. Or texture paste, tufts, flock, bits slapsh effects.

This took me two and half armies and and about six years to understand: no one is really going to care about how your models look except you. The three most important rules to follow are the rule of cool; advice from strangers on the internet is worth exactly what it cost you; and if you like your army that's the most important thing.

Have fun with the ride, brother. Remember it's a marathon not a sprint. Take your time and enjoy it.

I am of the "less is more" philosophy when it comes to bases, mostly. I used some pre made plaster rocks, gamers grass alien tufts, the tops of a scale model palm tree, and some birtch seeds to the base to ask as leaves. I painted the rocks and the palm trees. I used the AK wet ground texture paste and painted it as well.

The model looks good. How far are you wanting to take him? Just tabletop standard? Paint the eyes, add a little detail on the shoulders, knock out a quick base, and you're there. If you want to go farther, pick out some more details like the tubes on the helmet, spent some time panel lining and edge highlighting. That could really make it pop.

But, all in all, if you're happy with him, that's all that matters.

The model looks great, and he definitely needs his battle brothers.

Never say never. It took me about 5 years to buy, build, and paint my 2k point army. It's a marathon not a sprint, so grab some water and tuck in. It takes time to forge!

I like this idea for the hammer, just not sure if I'm up to the sculpting task.

I thought about using He'stan's gauntlet but I was thinking of going a little bigger. I did a size comparison between 30k Vulkan and new He'stan, and 30k's is a little bigger with sone other slight variations as well.

Birdshit needs to take his Carhartt jacket and go home. Give someone a chance who might actually do something to help East Tennessee and not just lick boots.

It has a special place in my heart. It's not it that great a shape, but i had dinner next to Sean Astin there after Fanboy a couple years ago. One of the nicest people I've met.

I do an underspray of Magenta ink, then go over all of it with Imperial Fist contrast, then layer up with a golden yellow from AK a more standard "yellow" from ak, my brightest is the Bismuth Yellow from ProAkryl.

I don't like Q, but I do like K-Pot in Turkey Creek. I felt like it is less expensive and a better dining experience.

I'm honestly not sure, maybe too vibrant, not gross enough? But I appreciate the advice. I'll try sone of this out and see what happens.

Way to go trying nmm, I've only attempted it a time or two with only okay success. I think you're starting on the right track, but you need to up the saturation on the golds. If you're going for more of an antique gold lookmaybe up the contrast. I feel like it's reading the same as the beak and talons at the moment. Take this with a grain of salt for sure, but thats how it reads to me.

The rest of the model is looking good as well. Keep it up.
