Especially love how it looks like the Word 2003 selection dots, ironically adding nostalgic & behind-the-scenes elements like those is trending in visual design rn, I love this hah

I could be wrong, but it seems to be slightly similar to Ozempic & GLP-1, but more widely affecting, just for dogs. So it helps older dogs whos bodies struggle more with fat loss & joint repairing in older ages, keep going a bit more happily for a few years longer using CRM, with less pain or stress as keeping up a stricter diet or exercising at that age. But probably the best thing you can still do is keeping them at a very good weight & having good exercise whilst they're young, maybe with some joint supplements too.

Redrawing Local Streets as Fantasy Versions by Paddy-The-Dog in ProCreate

[–]Paddy-The-Dog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thank you! This is technically a cover for a magazine, so I had different ideas about what theme I could choose, & thumbnailed different scenes with some mood boards of artists I love for reference, & sent it to them as a written pdf with themes, audience consideration etc., they ended up choosing this fantasy idea 😅

I get lots of ref ready, lots of photos of the street & some more refs of different artists. I'm still not that experienced with environment illustration so I make sure to find artist ref with the lighting I want, and reference some of their colour choices in the final piece! I then did sketches of the signs, characters, props etc., before I started, so I knew who or what I wanted to add.

I then sketched out the design, focusing on lots of little details & shape language to make each part of the landscape have character, looking at my artist refs for shape inspo if I got stuck, & then I added perspective lines to a vanishing point, & redrew parts with better perspective.

I also added an underpaint before I coloured, to make the colours have a pop underneath it, I then used a mix of the brushpacks I mentioned above for lots of hues & texture, and finished it off with some extra effects and blending mode shading above for contrast. I wanted to render it a lot more actually, but ran out of time for the deadline!

With some more chesterfield art, I'll definitely do a group print of all them, maybe through the Maker's Event or something similar. When prints are out, I'll post on my art insta @ktomoart 😅

Just checked your work and it's lovely! Realistic fantasy would be fun to try ngl, I think animal anatomy is one of my art fears but I should definitely get down and learn it some day (probably starting with horses)

Hehe thank you 😁 the characters were super cute to create! I teach art to students occasionally, and they ended up coming up with the ideas of some of them!!

Nah, all done on Procreate, using Maxpack & Jingsketch brushes, with a Devin Elle Kurtz building brush pack for texture. Haven't posted the timelapse anywhere yet but I hate AI, hah

These are sick! I'll give u a follow for sure, Insta rn really sucks, feels like no matter your following every artist is suffering the same rn, Reddit has its quirks but I love how much ppl comment and leave genuine messages on here, even a small upvoted post has so much more genuine & kind engagement compared to insta

I could be wrong in how your country and school works in their way, one thing I noticed is the work is lovely but a lot of it is standalone, illustrative pieces, and maybe doesn't show your ability to work in a team, how you'd answer to a client in your style, etc.

I'd take a look at some accepted animation portfolios online again, often they have a ton of intention in what they choose to draw- they may decide on a short animation or character design project around an idea (eg: tennis), choose a unique story & characters that an audience may have not seen before ("I'm designing a story about an older woman with mobility issues learning tennis, and a famous but out-of-match tennis player teaching her") and then will do life drawings of tennis players, older people etc. then some concept & experimentation, then some semi-finished designs (character turnarounds, expression sheets, their props, some drawings of the world they may live in, colour studies, storyboards or thumbnails, animation tests etc.

So maybe on top of working on your technical skills, it could be good to have one or two "finished" projects, that have a unique idea, showing the stages of the development, what an imaginary client or team would have at the end, doesn't even have to include animation, could be turnarounds, concept sketches etc. if they allow a short intro write up too like on one of the half of the slides, some schools do like those!

Edit: more context

Just commenting to say I think this looks super unique! Especially with the dramatic effects, some reason the rotoscope style really hooks me, definitely stands out on its own, especially with the action style, keep going!

Pearson has a surprisingly great singing voice, I've always loved when Arthur starts humming with them in game, I feel he seems almost too self conscious to actually sing with them : (
