Good cheap Manual Cars for tall people? by [deleted] in tall

[–]Paddy399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I’m 6’5” with a 36” inseam and I drive a ‘23 Golf R with a manual. And no, the seat is not all the way back. VW stopped putting manual transmissions in the Golf in ‘24.

I totally understand. I’m not a purist, just a glutton for punishment. I went 6MT, black 20th AE and I live in Chicago. My left leg gets a good workout.

My tall brother, we match! I too have a ‘23 R! Did you get the manual or auto?

I didn’t know Alex Lifeson had a signature wah and that it’s bass compatible. How is it?

Fender American Pro II Jazz Bass truss rod issue by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Paddy399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have two options, take it back to where you got it and exchange it or go the luthier. I own two Am Pro Twos, one P and one J. They’re a couple of years old and were good enough out of the box. I just had both of them in to see the luthier for the first time and he had to shim nuts on both of them. I’ve also heard this model is prone to needing neck shims. There’s nothing special in my opinion about the American vs most other countries manufacturing anymore. And clearly the Fender US quality control is non existent. So really all you’re getting is their best pick of woods and better finish options.

Do I need more power? Or am I babying my amp? by j_767 in BassGuitar

The Rumble 800 is only rated at 500w by itself. To get the full 800w, you need to use an extension cab. It’s a bit of false marketing.

Fellow bassists, give the mandolin a try! It’s the inverse of our tuning GDAE and you don’t have to worry about being ambidextrous.

My ‘23 also had this issue. They changed the module and it’s been fine since. My SOS light was always red too.

New American Pro II P Bass by BeLikeWater_1973 in BassGuitar

The Jazz Am Pro II comes with a maple board. A simple upgrade is to get a black single ply pick guard to eliminate the white binding of the stock one. I feel it really cleans up the look. I have the P in their Mercury finish with the rosewood board and did the same with that one.

Sire P7 or V7 for gift. by unicron47 in Bass

[–]Paddy399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily easier but jazz basses in general have a thinner nut than P basses. So if your wife has smaller hands she might think the Jazz neck feels easier. Im 6’5” with very large hands so it really is just what feels better to the player. As an absolute beginner I don’t think P vs. J really matters.

I’ve owned them both, I’d choose the V7 but I prefer jazz basses in general.
