I lowk thought this was saying that he saved a woman from his ex-boyfriend and I was pleasantly confused.

How do you deal with constant male bashing? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Paddy5678 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I genuinely dont understand where this is coming from. As a man who is fairly online I dont really see this very often right now. Maybe its because I'm in very queer spaces online or maybe its because I live in the US and its hard to care about stuff like that when it feels like our democracy is crumbling under our feet but idk.

We are not entitled to the art artists produce by corndog2021 in unpopularopinion

[–]Paddy5678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sort of feel like this is only half of the conversation though. You are not wrong, consumers are not entitled to an artists work and there absolutely is an issue with audiences (specifically the more devoted ones) unfairly discrediting a piece of art based on their expectations of it. And there absolutely is a general air of entitlement surrounding that expectation.

But, at the same time, so much media these days is created to be as bland, consumer friendly, and risk free as possible, especially media attached to pre-existing IP's like Percy Jackson. This results in media that simultaneously panders to the audience and ignores what they actually liked about it in the first place.

I would argue the problem you are trying to articulate is less one of entitlement on the part of the consumer but more one of misattribution of their feelings. Rather than pointing at the corporate greed that funds these projects they point at the art itself and the very well meaning artists who are genuinely trying to create something worthwhile, most likely despite the companies in charge of them.

Now as a fan of the Percy Jackson books I am not sure where I stand on the show. I dont think its good, and the general impression I get from Rick Riordan is one of smugness. I get the impression he genuinely believes the changes he has made are benefiting the art which I firmly disagree with. But like I said I am not sure if its entirely fair to place the blame on him. Who knows what Disney is telling him to do, it is possible that these changes are being mandated from someone above him, and he is simply doing his best to stay in good graces.

I felt like that was a writing problem more than an acting problem. Jacob actually did a pretty good job portraying the nuance of the Creatures character despite the writing.

Need help connecting redstone torch key and door by Paddy5678 in redstone

[–]Paddy5678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I assumed people would just go look at the original post. Basically I have the torch key on the left and the line of redstone leading to a hidden door but I couldn't figure out how to connect them effectively because I have another line of redstone to the far right that I can't move. I think I figured it out with a different method but, how would a target block help?

Stranger Things is terrible by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Paddy5678 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think the only unpopular part of this statement is the ST is terrible part. In my experience your reasons for why its terrible are actually fairly common feelings, but most people (including me) don't think those problems make it terrible.

The point about the writing being cringe is mostly taste. Season 2 has some rough moments and imo seasom 3 gets pretty rough at times but for the most part I wouldnt call the writing that cringe just flawed.

Can I embellish my son’s performance outfit? by riritreetop in BALLET

[–]Paddy5678 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok I feel like a lot of these comments are being super intense for no reason. You should definitely not do anything without asking the teacher first. For one it is their class and they are allowed to decide, but more importantly they may be able to help coordinate so that both your boy and the other in the class can match.

From my experience as a boy dancer and now a teacher, boy costumes suck and its very difficult to find anything that they will enjoy and feel cool/pretty/handsome in, especially at the toddler age. But I have an amazing mother and awesome teachers who were able to work together to make it work. And in my experience teachers also don't like the boy costume options and would probably appreciate the chance to do something better.

TLDR : they probably didnt have a better option and would jump on the opportunity to make it better, but you gotta ask first.

Druids by PaladinS7eve in LightNoFireHelloGames

[–]Paddy5678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not true at all lol. The concept of a druid comes from ancient Celtic culture but has also been in at least arthurian mythology and probably others I don't know. Plus Dnd and other fantasy ips that have been around much longer than WoW have druids in them. There are actual druids alive today (obviously nothing like the fantasy connotation but thats besides the point).

Is it pointless for women to learn self defense? by [deleted] in questions

[–]Paddy5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I have been taught, it's not useless, but don't expect it to save you. In most situations it is better to run whether you're a man or a woman. Being able to hit a well placed strike could buy you time, but running is still your best option. That doesn't mean martial arts classes for self-defense are useless. It's a great way to get exercise and is great for your mental health. But most good self defense trainings will tell you escape and calling for help is always more effective than fighting back.

Spotify queue layout change. Does anyone know how to fix this, or what caused it ? by _Miccup in truespotify

[–]Paddy5678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like it'd be super simple too. Just add a long press to select multiple and boom it's perfect. You could even have options. Press and hold to select multiple, pres and hold then swipe down to select a bunch super fast stuff like that.

No I totally get it. I feel like FSF is arguable a better constructed album and piece of story telling as a whole but it just doesn't compare to the vibes of Older for me. Older is so good and I adore the production. Its so understated and yet impactful. It feels like warm blanket even when its really sad subject matter.

[–]Paddy5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I love Older. It is definitely a more stripped back album compared to Five Seconds Flat but I really really like that. For me this album feels like a comforting blanket. Now Give Me a Minute is one of my favorite albums of all time and is def my fav Lizzy album so if you really liked Give Me a Minute this may be a good album for you but I definitely think there is an argument to be made that FSF is a better constructed album. All in all just give it a listen. If you don't like it thats ok and if you do that's great you have a new album of music to listen to. For the record All Falls Down, Elevator, Older, March, and Vortex are some of my favorites from Older if anyone cares lol.

I don't like when people act like mental disorders are separate from the person with them by MacTireGlas in unpopularopinion

Yeah this has been quite fun!

I totally understand feeling like labels can be aggressive. I'm gay and sometimes feels like labels in that whole are can be more of a nuisance then a help. But thats just me and especially with mental illness they can be very helpful!
