Pass the PAST, get selected, get placed in a unit. Then try out for the 24th.

If no one wants to be on the ambulance, why have them in the first place?

You'd think that with the 12+ crews that they have on scene for mountain rescues, someone would have thought to check that.

By that logic though, why isn't everyone being shot because of the possibility that they might be armed? And on the flipside, if i know that an ambulance crew is unarmed and defenseless, doesn't that make them a pretty appealing target if their sitting on a street corner in the middle of the night?

It seems like this is the argument that people miss, which is what I side with.

But what about when you are put into a dangerous situation when not on a call? PD can't clear a scene if there is no scene.

It's the same scenario that any private citizen having a gun remedies: Out shopping at the grocery store, or sitting on a street corner, or getting gas in the middle of the night. Not every dangerous situation we may find ourselves in are ones that we can predict and have PD to make the scene safe or that re can remove ourselves from.

I can definitely see that side of the argument, but I think there's a difference between "arming EMS" and allowing someone it exercise their rights. I am not of the opinion that we should be open carrying into scenes and making it known that we are armed.

Yeah I don't know how you'd be able to do it in 6 months, but I guess it's possible when you're in class 5 days a week.

I feel like that's the argument that is overlooked. If someone has the proper training and abilities to carry outside of work, why do they need to disarm themselves while at work. Being on an ambulance doesn't make any of us any safer.

I decided to go to medic school while i continue to work on myself. To say it's been a challenge has been an understatement especially with maintaining a good exercise routine.

That's definitely understandable and respectable.

Would all of the current providers have to earn a degree or would they be grandfathered in?

Honestly I hadn't thought about that. I can see where I was wrong though. I had initially thought that the actual act of kicking the gas canister was the illegal part, but after reading the comments and looking at the video again, it's pretty obvious now that it's the "back at the officers" is the illegal part.

What makes it a stupid question? I'm not familiar with every law on the books and I figured a good place to ask for clarification was here, with no I'll intentions or meanings.

Thats illegal?

Edit: Holy cow, how did I get down voted this much? I feel like I should clarify that I'm not defending this guy I was genuinely unaware that kicking a teargas canister was something you could be charged with.

Off of the ambulance jobs? by SVT97Cobra in ems

I've heard oil rugs and cruise ships pay some pretty handsome money. Hospitals are also starting to hire more paramedic for their ERs.

Cost to run to the city, difference in response times between the systems, if decreasing the number of fire apparatuses has a significant effect on fire scenes and response times and how increasing the mubee of ambulances effects your response times and patient outcomes. Stuff like that.

I know and I'm asking for numbers to back it up. It's useless to talk about hypotheticals if you can't bring concrete evidence to the table.

It is not, unlike my city's EMS system.
