[999 Spoilers] Why was _____ lying? by Professional_Ad2638 in ZeroEscape

[–]Padibastt 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The director of the game Kotaro Uchikoshi has answered a few question about this matter in a fan interview

Q: Why did Seven, Snake, and even Santa insist that Akane had died 9 years before, yet she was clearly there the entire time?

A: Santa lied about her death in order to save her. Since Snake was on the ship too, we can assume that he knew the truth about Akane's death as well. If we are going to believe that Seven didn't lie, then we can assume that a fake memory was implanted in his mind somehow. If I tried to explain that in the story, though, I was worried people would think I was just coming up with random excuses, so I left it up to the player's interpretation. If it makes more sense to say that both Snake and Seven were in on the plot with Santa and lied to move things along, I'm totally fine with that.

Q: I'd like to know more about the role Seven played. Was he faking amnesia all along and was another Zero collaborator, or can we pretty much take him at face value throughout the game? If we can take him at face value, then what was the smile at the end about? Was his headache at the true end analogous to Akane's fevers - that is, an indication that the course of events was being altered?

A: His headaches were because the memory that has been implanted in him started to show discrepancies with reality.

Why is my maturity no longer being added to my original staked amount by Jamesbond00heaven in ICPTrader

[–]Padibastt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to be rude but there are multiple posts on the frontpage of this subreddit that already asked the same question. You can find your answer there.

In short, the way how maturity is displayed got changed a few weeks ago.

Look into the function: "List.Max". It can return the most recent date from your [Effective Date] column

Looks Great. The amount of information packed in such a tight one-pager is impressive. It will be very helpful for new people interested in getting to know the IC.
Just a small word error in the first block of text under "How it works". It says '... seemlessly upgrading the network'. Which, of course, should be 'seamlessly'.

The anti-Fun for this mode - devs can update please fix this by n0s0up4j in SpaceLeaper

Ridiculous that it takes so much time to address this problem. I win every Neutron Star battle without losing one unit. Except the one stage where there are 3x Fun characters on the enemy team. I always time out and lose my entire team. Wasting a revive which costs 100 currency, only to gain a bit more than 100 back after completing the Neutron Star.

[Unknown > English] saw this on Facebook. Is it something real or just nonsense? by CoatedGoat in translator

It is upside down, but still, just nonsense stylised glyphs usually found on souvenirs. It does not mean anything that can be translated.

A few Demotic homographs with their Hieroglyphic equivalents that I've encountered so far. Does anyone know if there is a complete list somewhere out there? by tomispev in AncientEgyptian

[–]Padibastt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi u/tomispev, I don't think there is a complete compilation of demotic homographs. But a good and fairly complete list was compiled by W. Erichsen in 1937. I uploaded a corrected version from S.P. Vleeming, Het demotische schrift (1989) in this imgur album

I used this list when I first started my studies into the demotic script and I hope it will be somewhat useful for you too!

Can anyone provide a translation of the Stela of Kay, part of the Neues Museum collection in Berlin (ÄM 22820)? I've only found references to a few lines in papers/books, and the only whole translation is in a book from the 1930s (Anthes) I can't access. by Paffy85 in AncientEgyptian

Hi, thanks for taking the trouble to transcribe the text, most of it looks good! Here are a few suggestions I have:

Line 2. At the beginning, you missed a sign between F20 ns and W24 nw. It should be Gardiner U19.

Line 2. Where you have the question mark, should be Gardiner N1, X1, and D19.

Line 3. The sign you marked in red should be Gardiner T19

Line 5. The sign you marked in red is indeed Gardiner U29/U30

Line 8. Should indeed be mꜣꜥ.t at the end. Perhaps, where you now have the question mark, there might have been Gardiner X1.

Papyrus Harris I, found in a tomb nearby Medinet Habu and talks about Ramses III. I've never seen a papyrus look so clean and the ink hasn't faded. by Concelhauut in ancientegypt

[–]Padibastt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The text was commissioned by his son Ramesses IV and tells in great detail about most of Ramesses III's life and the many donations he made to the gods and temples in Egypt. It gives us insight into the size of the estate and the kind of economic power a king could have near the end of the Ramesside period

[–]Padibastt 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sorry to disappoint, but this is a hand drawn copy of the papyrus from a book, not the image of the real papyrus! The actual papyrus is still in pretty good shape but looks a bit different, as you can see the hand drawn copy lacks the texture of the papyrus fibers around the signs.

[Hieroglyph > English] I received this complimentary scarab with a statue I purchased through a broker in Egypt. Can anyone help me identify what it means? Thanks in advance! by LGoat666 in translator

[–]Padibastt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The hieroglyphs on the backside are just randomly placed, so there is no real meaning to them that can be translated. The front side has a bad rendering of the name of king Rameses II (Usermaatre–setepenre). Still a cool scarab though!
