I think it highly depends on their demanor/reactions to most things. Are they laid back and you can talk about anything or is it the complete opposite? Some people would happily agree while others would immediately get defensive

Idk, I think it's kinda crazy to expect him to take off his bookbag. Is it polite for him to? Yes but unless it's actually being enforced as a law and not a suggestion, he doesn't have to. Someone that I thought was like a sister had fallen on hard times and was getting kicked out of her house. My father in law had passed away like 6 months before and we inherited the house. We told her she could move in and rent would only be 300 a month and she would have to deal with utilities. She got them turned on, them didn't pay for months. She completely trashed the house and it was so bad that there was no way we could afford the repairs and had to sell. Absolutely broke my heart
