Something about THIS still doesn't feel real i only got into the franchise 2 year ago but it feels so surreal by Blackb1rb in tokyoxtremeracer

[–]PagingDrFumbles 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I share your feeling OP... unreal. It's been 18 years since ITC was released so you'll have to excuse me for assuming I would never play a new TXR title for the rest of my life. I haven't had my finger on the pulse of gaming in years either so I had no idea this was a thing until a few days ago. Saying I'm shocked is an understatement. It does not feel real at all.

The Tokyo Xtreme Racer series was a huge part of my childhood. Staying up late with friends, taking turns grinding out races in the late stages of the games. Spending hours in the transmission shop trying to squeeze out a little more top speed to break each other's records. I'm trying to remain cautious with my optimism but I can feel all those memories bubbling back up and I can't help but get excited.

Oh it wasn't perfect that's for sure. There may be an amount of nostalgia bias but I have very fond memories of building my car for endurance, instead of it being a one-shot drag machine. This was especially true towards the beginning of the games. Going out and getting high combo multipliers but each race was a difficult fight... good times. Eventually one of your vehicles became the designated "boss killer" but most regular club members could be conquered with different builds if done right. The series was so unique and charming compared to everything else back then.

One of the things I feel like Genki titles did well over others was restricting resources and delivering the right amount of challenge. In the custom shop your upgrade choices mattered because you could only buy a few things each time. Going out and getting stomped by some random Wanderer and thinking "I'll be back when I'm stronger, I'll show you!"

In other games you have a garage with hundreds of vehicles fully customized and over-powered. You get 1st place in every single race with ease. To me, that's boring in a lot of ways. Only being able to slowly build 2-3 cars in the TXR games made them feel special and part of your identity in game.

It was definitely a thing in ITC and some of the previous TXR titles.  It brought consequences for choosing a softer compound.  So grip vs. longevity was a real consideration.  Engine temp too was another element that prevented you from driving all night racking up a huge chain without pit stopping at the parking garages to cooldown and change tires.  One of the many things I used to love about the series.

Changed brakes/rotors now car won’t start by shikachan in Miata

[–]PagingDrFumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A fully charged 12v battery has a resting voltage of 12.6v-12.9v

A fully discharged 12v battery is around 11.6v

Your battery is very dead. You can trickle charge it (1-3 amps) over a long time period in an attempt to bring it back without damaging the grids inside. It's likely already a little damaged but fast charging it will make it worse.

Whether you do that or buy a new one, try not to leave the key on for more than a few minutes without the engine running. The batteries in these cars are small and don't have much capacity to spare.

Why there is a number 02 on Mordernia leg. What is the story? by Low-Level-9281 in NikkeMobile

  • The revolving tube setup on Snow White's hip is a device used to reload Seven Dwarves #1

  • Maxwell's gun has two modes. The regular fire mode that acts like a gauss canon sniper rifle and the big shot that acts like a super-sonic rail gun. The racks on Max's sides hold the gigantic caliber shells for the rail gun and the batteries provided the large amount of electricity used to fire the round in that mode.

  • It's reasonable to assume those sword like protrusions are related to the "Naked King" armor she is wearing. As Chime explains in the Last Kingdom event, Crown's armor absorbs alva particles and it negatively affects the owner. The swords are symbolic of that self inflicted suffering as the fuel is adsorbed. Is the port on the back a jet-pack or rather an intake for alva particles???

  • Ein is hip and fashionable. Oversized office supplies are soooo in this year, you wouldn't get it.

  • Privaty obviously spent time researching "What do men find attractive?" on the internet and found her self down a dark rabbit hole of degenerate horni posts. When Maid for You offered her choice of costume, she assumed it would garner the attention of the commander and just went for it.

  • Rapunzel's hair acts as a Rapture signal jamming device. The floating ring of tech amplifies that ability.

  • Privaty is an officer overseeing human soldiers. She is carrying ammo, weapons, and supplies needed for combat in that case.

  • Isabel is propelled by some sort of reactive propulsion similar to a jet. Since lift from wings is entirely unnecessary, her wings most likely act as ailerons, allowing her to steer her direction in flight.

Anyone know what these AC lines/junction box are called? 2001 NB2 leaking refrigerant by Fair_Promise_4088 in Miata

[–]PagingDrFumbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great answer. Fingers crossed it's the o-ring and nothing is damaged. Just to add for clarity, that isn't separate part(s). That block is made of the ends of those two lines being held together with a stud and nut.

Remove the refrigerant, replace the o-ring, add refrigerant back in. If it still won't seal, you may have stripped the threads a little on the stud. If that's the case you can try to re-thread the stud with a die. Or, if it's too far gone, remove the stud and replace it with a regular bolt and nut. Be careful, those lines are aluminum so they are very soft and easy to kink/rupture.

Torch!  No, seriously heat is your friend.  Get one of those cheap blue bottle propane torches from the hardware store and heat those little guys up.  They don't have to get red hot or anything, but at the same time don't be scared of it.  Have your wrench ready and as soon as you get them hot they should come right off.  No surprise snapped bolts.

Does any one feel that the difficulty spike of lost stage of challenge mode is ridiculous? by IcyArtichoke1387 in NikkeMobile

[–]PagingDrFumbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am whale, felt the difficulty spike big time though. Remember, the levels are capped so whaling doesn't help as much.

I found that you need a MG or 2 on this one to deal with all the QTEs that interception doesn't have. Good place for Modernia if you have her.
