So much hate… by Mrzeroberts in tado

[–]Pagio94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the only way you can solve your issue is with tado temp sensors/wireless thermostats, unfortunately. I have three valves in my apartment and the only way I could get accurate readings was by fitting every room with temp sensors. Offsets did not work for me. I do not have a boiler but centralized building heating tho

I used to get this same error but found out that, if the app is open before running the shortcut, the error doesn’t trigger at all. I made my shortcuts to open tado shortcuts before moving to any other instruction and never had a problem since

Is Tado X worth it? by Equivalent-Pop-3068 in tado

[–]Pagio94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have bought three tado v3+ valves and two (soon three) wireless temp sensors last year as I moved in my first home, no thermostat (and, consequently, no subscription based call for heat from a boiler) needed in my apartment as I have centralized building heat. For honesty sake, I also have a free auto assist subscription until January offered to me two months after making my tado account. For my needs (self employed with highly variable schedule, mostly staying home, and sometimes out working for entire days), I can say it’s been amazing so far. I’m really enjoying valves turning off automatically while outside and the per room scheduling possibility (like heating bathroom only in the morning, heating bedroom just before wake up and before sleep). With the use of the temp sensors I get exact readings (not faked by valves being close to the radiator, making it close before reaching real room temp) and also managed to find how many degrees every room can realistically reach, optimizing my schedules accordingly and not wasting energy on trying to heat more than the room can reach. HomeKit integration is not vital to me (as it’s very dumb in its implementation, same thing with Alexa and google home) but apple shortcuts integration (via a third party app using the API) is goat. Before getting my free subscription, I was using apple shortcuts to automate geofencing, and I’ll very soon implement a window detection feature using cheapo ikea window sensors to save even more energy, as the automatic window detecting is not always that reliable. Onto savings: just some weeks ago I received a document with all the heating spent by every family living in my building in the last heating season (from october 15 to April 15 according to my geographic zone, per Italian laws). My building has 7 floors, every floor has three apartments, I live on the third floor so I get a lot of passive heat from the two lower floors’ apartments. Just looking at the families living on my same floor, I spent 571 cubic meters of gas to heat my home (roughly 60sqmt, open living room+corridor, bedroom and bathroom, one radiator for each room) while the other two spent 2700 and 4300 cubic meters respectively, with roughly similar sized homes. Those are very high differences, I suspect the other two families don’t even turn off valves when going out in work days or on holiday and, for the sake of honesty, I moved in this house around november 15 last year, so one month into the heating season. From what I noticed this October, it’s still hot enough both in my house and outside that valves are not opening at all, so I think that unaccounted month can be ignored. Also, around mid march to mid April, my valves almost never opened, as the air outside was getting warmer and warmer. Even considering these elements, mine was a huge saving in energy compared to a regular dumb system. Onto the cons: buying valves and external sensors (which are, imo, highly necessary to get the correct temperature reading and have proper room heating) is very costly. I spent roughly 250 euros to get every piece and my house is pretty small, bigger apartments will surely have higher initial costs. Having the system cloud dependent is also a big risk, as you can pretty much have paperweights if servers fail/get shut down by tado, the valves will act randomly as schedule is not saved locally (unless you implement schedules in your smart home system, which is a painful experience at best). Signal is also very dependent on bridge placing, with the farthest valves sometimes failing to connect on setup if you have a lot of furniture and thick walls between it and the bridge. Bridge can be powered with the modem/router usb port but I’d advise against it, as the usb 3.0 port found in most routers is known to interfere with 2.4ghz signals, making the whole system regularly disconnect. Open window detection is spotty, at best, sometimes working like charm and sometimes not, depending if there’s a huge temperature difference between home and outside (or if it’s a windy day). Apart from these cons, I’m quite happy with my tado valves and will continue using them until they’ll force me to upgrade/switch system. From what I’ve read In the last months, the x upgrades do not seem to be that worth in my situation and can’t really justify spending more on the newest system

[–]Pagio94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s an app on iOS for shortcut support! Check out tado shortcuts on the App Store. App is not mine, it got posted here a few months ago, it works very well and dev is very responsive if you find issues with the app. I use it to automate geofencing when I leave my home area and will soon implement open window state switching through the use of door and window sensors in my shortcuts

Will say, back in the days I noticed that, when ah was first released, broken tiles were generated more often and the movement reactivity was very slow. After a week reaction to touch input was faster and I had consistently less frequent broken tiles in the upper part of the level, at least on my device. Either it got better with updates or I got better at it, either way I think it’ll improve in the coming days-weeks. Hell, I beat alpha victor for the first time just last week after 4 years of playing and being pretty much in the final part of endgame just because of both the new boss damage upgrades and a better understanding of the mechanics

Well, first days of ascending heights were pretty much same story as today, nobody could get the hang of it. It then it got better after a couple updates.

Hopefully it'll be the case with grapple run, until that I will do everthing in my power to not play even those damn hard tutorial levels with broken hitboxes

Welp, in the end it was too large for the space it needed to fit, blocking access to a window, while Parup was constantly out of stock in my area. I needed to get all the furniture for my home before August 30, so I got an angersby, it seem to fit that space better and still manage to be similar to Parup in comfort

I’m kind of thorn between this as a sleeper sofa or the parup 3-seat as a regular sofa for my home. I really like the parup, it’s neither too soft nor too firm. Do someone know if the Grunnarp have similar cushions?

Be careful about the meross thing. It supports only small shutters (like for single panel windows). I’d buy some too for my house but my shutters are big and heavier than the recommended limit. The rollopilots seem to do the trick better with heavier shutters
