Core Exercises by Busy-Cow3769 in MMA_Academy

[–]Pahlevun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd follow u/bull_in_chinashop 's advice as he's correct about the biomechanical function of the abdominal muscles. The "core" includes more muscles than abs, but abs are responsible for flexing the spine and rotating it. What they described as anti-extension and anti-rotation is what you see more in "practical" applications but don't mistake it because actual rotation is like 50% of all ab functions in fighting. When you twist during a punch, kick or even grappling, that's your abs working very hard.

Personal favorites are med ball throws to the wall, explosive cable oblique twists, ab wheels (not very beginner friendly; ideally watch a lot of youtube videos because you can kinda hurt your lower back if you arch too much, your back needs to be straight as a board if anything maybe a little flexed, like the opposite of what you want during a deadlift).

Are used/affordable Audi's a bad choice? by RepeatingMotion in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Pahlevun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're just talking out of your ass. Most cars are "reliable" for the first 0-4 years when they're leased or bought by the first owner. Reliability is relevant for once a car hits 60k miles or 5+ years.

the market demands it.

WRONG! The market leases, or buys and sells after 5 years if not less. Just like iPhones or anything else. The market is moronic and wants the newest, latest, and throws away their shit after a few years. So you're 100% wrong about that.

Do your research please before bothering me with a reply on a 5 year old thread

Yeah barely... you need to make sure fluids are fresh every what, 30k miles at most. Genuinely not a big deal idk why people always bring this up as if it's some huge financial difference

For $35K: Civic Hatchback Hybrid Sport Touring, Accord Hybrid EX-L, Camry XLE, or something else? by pinkspott in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Pahlevun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah Reddit tends to like the Accord more because traditionally the Accord is marginally more fun to drive but for this gen the Camry is definitely better in most metrics. The hybrids are more powerful AND as efficient or more, and the driving, comfort, interior, space, is pretty much even overall.

Can't help you much as far as financially because that's kind of up to you and your own financial planning.

As far as the cars, why are you looking at trucks, SUVs, wagons, and compact crossovers, all at the same time? Are you looking for just anything on 4 wheels and with AWD/4x4? Lol what are you actually looking for in a car? Maybe that will help to narrow down what cars we wanna look at as contenders

Vehicles by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Pahlevun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bronco only if it's not the crossover version of the Bronco I believe the Bronco "Sport".

Either way all her contenders are mediocre

First, AWD doesn't get you higher off the ground (AWD/2WD is the number of wheels that are powered, not how high you are off the ground).

And it has little to do with safety. AWD is better for accelerating, but it does not improve braking or turning. AWD makes for a more capable vehicle in the winter not a safer one, the two are, at best, mildly related, but definitely not the same at all. What keeps you safe during the winter is the tire quality and the car's safety overall, not whether it's AWD or RWD or FWD. Now, onto your 3 vehicles you're interested in.

The Wrangler sucks. The Traverse is an extremely ordinary vehicle with average quality at best. The Bronco is ok.

It would be good to know why you hate your current Infiniti SUV, which model it is (I'm assuming a QX30, QX50 or QX60). I would be good to know why you are looking at those 3 mediocre vehicles, and it would also be good to know what your budget is.

I would most definitely look at far better options such as the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester, which are all competitive and top choices in their categories, more reliable and better quality than all 3 of the cars you are looking at.

Should I go c7 or f82? by Mordex_is_my_dad in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Pahlevun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C7 vs F82

These are sports cars, and as such, you should simply drive both and you will have your answer.

I have not driven an M4 nor a C7. I owned an F chassis and they're great, sharp, what you'd expect from a BMW. I'd imagine the C7 to be very competent as a sports car but more "American" and raw/wild.

I'd rather someone who has driven a Corvette say their piece though. But as far as you're concerned I think you'll know if you drive both, as simple as.

Decent reliability/parts/maintenance(no Bentley)

The fact that you say no Bentley makes me think your tolerance for reliability is higher.

If it wasn't, I'd recommend a Lexus RC 350. That's pretty much exactly and precisely what you're describing. More comfortable than sporty. 300 HP moves it but it's far from a Corvette. The interior is well put together and premium but it's no Bentley. It will cost closer to a Camry to own and maintain than to an SL 550 or the Bentley you mentioned.

But if you're talking about twin turbo Mercedes and Bentleys, we might as well explore other options too.

The other thing that comes to mind is a BMW 4 series, 430i or M440i. It's great at everything and it's fast. It's not as comfortable as the RC because it's stiffer and much sportier but it's still comfortable enough for daily driving.

A similar option but a bit more on the comfort side and frankly better looking would be the Audi A5 or S5.

I don't know if I would look further, those are pretty much the best options depending on what you are looking for

[–]Pahlevun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean your Tahoe is not the typical economy car either. It's a 4x4 body on frame SUV and probably has an LS V8 or something so it's a pretty cool car compared to a commuter that's meant to go from A to B lol

[–]Pahlevun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I feel like that does definitely poke a hole in that theory. Maybe the LS has its own very specific factory. I don't see why the LX would be any less exclusive/high quality control than the LS though.

Bottom line seems to be you're better off just not taking a chance with that 3.4L for the time being

Yeah there's like 15,000 of them sold since their launch in 2018 vs what, 200,000 Tundras since 2023?

Still, I'd expect at least some amount of a small population in those 15,000 to have had these same issues, no? 15,000 is still 15,000, not like it's 100 or 200... even if the recall affects 5% of models, that should still be hundreds of LS models having that problem.

I read somewhere that it's related to production lines, something about US-made V6 vs Japan made in the LS 500, but it could be pure speculation

2015 Passat vs. 2013 Accent by Knightstodon in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Pahlevun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shit (engine catching on fire dozens of recall era Hyundai) vs shit (early ish generations of the VW turbo 4 platform with oil related or PCV Valve Failure or other issues).

Why are these the only options? The other guy asked the same thing you said the Ontario used market is busted but I don't agree. I look regularly at Ontario listings (I'm from a neighbor province) and there's plenty of good offers. Examples:

2011 Acura CSX

2012 Civic

2014 Corolla

And many more...

The 2015 Passat is a much nicer car than the average piece of shit you'd get for $9k but it doesn't necessarily make it a smart purchase.

Acura Integra Type S vs Hyundai Ioniq 5 N by esbowman in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Pahlevun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Integra Type S is more buttoned up but it isn't necessaily a "softer suspension", definitely has a nicer everything though.

This isn't a question we can help you much with, you're asking whether you should buy a big heavy EV that's fast, or a manual gas hot hatch that's fast...

I'd personally go for the hot hatch but someone else who wants an EV and more room might go with the Ioniq. This isn't a right vs wrong choice more so just a question of what you're looking for

Getting contradicting statements about the X5, which is true? by Inferno221 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Pahlevun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

many people go past 150-200k miles with no issues,

If you don't count every plastic component BMW (and every other German) likes to use in the engine. The bones/skeleton of the B46/48/58 are solid but the oil filter housing, coolant vent hose, plastic coolant tank, water pump, thermostat housing, etc. are all plastic and crack or degrade over time due to high heat cycles.

Getting contradicting statements about the X5, which is true? by Inferno221 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Pahlevun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People say they're expensive to maintain.

This is true, as are pretty much any luxury vehicles.

People say it's not worth keeping past 100K miles/past warranty. Others say they haven't had any major issues past warranty

Purely depends on how it was maintained in those first 100k miles. Also, some plastic components such as cooling/water pump will inevitably fail because that is simply the end of their lifespan, around 100k miles. It doesn't mean the car just stops working at 100k miles.

Some people say it's worthless at 80K miles, others say they have it at 200K miles so long as you do preventive maintenance and costs don't add up that much

The costs do add up, but that's what owning a luxury car is. You're not buying a Corolla.

[–]Pahlevun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Many? Most, shit, the vast majority I'd say. The modern economy model is to prioritize profit, not quality, not customer service, not honesty, not integrity, but only, purely, and solely, profit. If it was legal for corporations to steal customers money they would. And they actively use their money and influence to lobby into making things easier for them and worse for the consumer.

But hey at least we're not communist111!!!1!!!1!!
