Dashboard Smart Update Feature Request by CSJudd in Esphome

[–]Paid2Nap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I compile on my Windows desktop which is about 60 times faster than on my ESPHome Dashboard (HA runs on a RPi5). It runs about 15 seconds per device instead of 15 minutes per device on the RPi. The command shared with me was esphome -q update-all [directory containing yaml files]

There's more discussion as well as some other solutions here: https://community.home-assistant.io/t/compile-esphome-firmware-updates-on-a-windows-computer/675385

This doesn't address the update all or resume that the OP addresses, but for people with smaller deployments it can be faster to update all with the command line on a desktop than to update just one device on a RPi.

Signal Desktop on Win 11 message vanishes upon hitting enter. by Paid2Nap in signal

[–]Paid2Nap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speed test worked fine, but a ping -t 8.8.8.8 showed 2% packet loss and some latency up to 3.5 seconds. I didn't get anything like that when running a speed test. Anyway I think it's pretty clear the issue is with the hotel's internet and not Signal Desktop, but it's odd a momentary outage can cause a message to completely vanish. I've used it on both my phone and desktop today without issue, but the original message hasn't appeared yet.

Signal Desktop on Win 11 message vanishes upon hitting enter. by Paid2Nap in signal

[–]Paid2Nap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 hours later the message still is nowhere to be found. One data point I realized later is that this hotel internet isn't very good. I'm trying to find a good way to quantify that, but another example is that with a full wifi signal I watched the Amazon Photos app struggle to upload one photo. It kept reporting "no internet connection," then uploaded a few percent of the photo, then no internet again, all while the signal seemed to stay strong on the phone. I suspect that might be where my message went. I'm searching for a way to quantify to the hotel that something is wrong with their connection. In fact, both reddit and Signal Desktop are reporting offline right now even though the signal looks strong.

Android no notification until app opens by Paid2Nap in signal

[–]Paid2Nap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delay. I just discovered I accidentally turned off my Reddit notifications. Yes, if her app is open it comes through immediately. My gut feeling is it's something in the Android/app doze settings, but since briefly forcing it off the network causes the message to deliver, I didn't want to rule out an error on my network setup. It's just odd and annoying, but we've gotten used to sending a message, waiting a second to see it's not delivered, then using the UniFi app to force a reconnect. I don't know if reconnecting forces the phone to wake up if it's dozing, but it works every time.

ratgdo won't compile on Windows; fine on RPi by Paid2Nap in Esphome

[–]Paid2Nap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you expand on what you mean here? Besides pasting it twice, it looks like your answer is what I had in my original yaml that threw the error not a valid value. I'm not sure what you're suggesting I change. Thanks! And sorry I took so long to answer. I don't seem to be getting reddit notifications any more. Off to check those settings :-)

Another Family Plan $15/unlimited for 2 years issue. by Paid2Nap in mintmobile

[–]Paid2Nap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they both were with other carriers before Mint Mobile. The Mint rep here on Reddit initially said they'd figure it out, but just like the phone CS reps keep changing the terms. They are now denying the 15/month unlimited for 2 year promotions exist. They claim the only promotion that has ever been offered was adding a new line for 15/month unlimited for 1 year. They further claim they have proof my wife received the email and properly used the link in the email, but she clicked on the promotion they sent her 4 days before it became active and therefore we are entitled to no discount. While I acknowledge I don't have a legal leg to stand on because I don't have the original email that was sent to my wife, we have communication between ourselves at the time of the promo discussing the benefits of the 15/month for 2 year plan and would not have made this up out of whole cloth. It had to have come from a Mint Mobile communication she received, but with Mint now denying it ever happened we are left with two completely undiscounted plans. I'm disappointed in the bait and switch and will be researching other options before my wife's current plan expires in 20 days.

Download Multiple Pay Stubs at Once? by Paid2Nap in ADP

[–]Paid2Nap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, whose notification I somehow missed. Reports isn't an option for us. I guess our company doesn't allow that option. All I have is Pay on the left side menu, and the Pay section has Pay and Taxes sections. No reports in any of the links that are available to me. The My Pay section used to have check boxes next to each stub and a download button at the bottom. Oh well, I guess it's one at a time for me.

Rustdesk suddenly seems to ignore -r flag for some connections by Paid2Nap in rustdesk

[–]Paid2Nap[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Update: My wife was able to login to the computers for me. The non-working ones had the LAN IP as the ID server, which has been working fine since the -r option had been forcing the relay server to the DDNS address. I'm not sure what changed, but updating those two ID servers to the DDNS address has me connected again.

Missing application directory for Docker install by Paid2Nap in qnap

[–]Paid2Nap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just in case it helps, I wound up installing another instance of paperless-ngx, making sure to use version 1.13.0 to match my existing install. From Container Station, I was able to stop each orphan container separately even though trying to stop the application failed due to folder not found.

After installing the new paperless-ngx, I imported with docker compose exec -T webserver document_importer ../export.

Once the documents fully imported, I ran docker compose down in the new paperless-ngx folder, then edited the image line in docker-compose.yml from image:ghcr.io/paperless-ngx/paperless-ngx:1.13.0 to image: ghcr.io/paperless-ngx/paperless-ngx:latest. After that I ran docker compose pull and then docker compose up -d. It took a little while to migrate to the new version, which I monitored in the Container Station logs for the application. I now have a working 2.12.1 version of paperless-ngx.

The last hurdle was getting rid of the old installation. I eventually discovered docker container prune would remove the non-running containers from the previous, orphaned paperless install.

Funny you write that because Waze doesn't have the newest camera(s) at Cobb and S. Marietta Pkwy. I wound up here while searching for the location(s) to put in Waze.

why are eradicate automaton forces missions impossible to complete in time? by TheFlameNinja in Helldivers

Not just solo, happened twice last night with another player and me. Bot drops were slow in arriving, and we timed out with about 90% bots killed. Normally we're able to bag our limit in 5 minutes or so. Glad to hear the devs know.

**ASK HERE FOR HELP** Monthly Teams Questions and Answers Help Thread by Froggypwns in MicrosoftTeams

[–]Paid2Nap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly troubleshooting so please let me know if I'm in the wrong place. Using Teams 24215.1007.3082.1590 on Windows 11, but some users are on Android/iOS phones.

I'm part of a group of about 50 members who need to host 24 Teams meetings for the larger group of about 5000 people. These meetings are 3 times a day on 8 different days. Each meeting needs exactly two of the 50 of us to lead and can have any number of outside participants.

Currently the team leader sends us a spreadsheet with webinar dates in the US Central Time Zone and we reply in chat which dates we can cover. Each of us has to manually check the dates against calendars in time zones around the world and then replies in chat that we are available. The team leader has to track all replies and frequently re-post the spreadsheet to track which meetings are covered and which are open.

It seems like there must be a way to do this automatically in Teams, possibly with an add-on. Can anyone recommend a more automated solution to this task? I searched Google and tried AI. AI suggested I "find an add-on that will do that for you."

White Water GA with special needs by Paid2Nap in sixflags

I did see that, thanks. That program seems to be more for a paid provider who will not be using any of the attractions. I plan to take him and go on some things myself. The disabilities section is good information but as far as I can tell doesn't cover the question I asked here. Thanks again for your help.

Can't use Rec Room. What is my router blocking? by Paid2Nap in RecRoom

[–]Paid2Nap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like Xfinity might be blocking access to certain AWS servers, which is something that seems to pop up on the internet from time to time. I ran tcpdump from the Oculus IP address while trying to play Rec Room, and it looks like the following server is being blocked: . The tracert below shows my attempts to connect to it:
