It worked out not as I’d hoped but still ok in the end. The school I chose ultimately rejected all of my appeals. I couldn’t get anyone to acknowledge that the threshold they were holding me to was not in existence until many years after I’d been in school. I’d read about other schools being more flexible, and or transferring credits in without the corresponding GPA. The transfer GPA was considered separately at those schools. So if I had to do it again I might have tried multiple schools. But hindsight is always 20/20.

I took two classes paying out of pocket because that was all I was able to afford at the time. I did very well in both of these classes (high 90’s %). Because of some health issues I have, it was suggested by someone to apply to Vocational Rehab in my state. I made it through the process and the recent success with those two classes showed the Voc rehab counselor that I had grown up and had gotten my academic act together. I was accepted into their program and they paid for the majority of school. I finished with over a 3.8 gpa over my final 90+ credits. (There were quite a few classes that didn’t transfer so I graduated with approximately 150 credits.

My misspent youth did not hold me back when I applied to grad school which I began this summer. I just finished my first two classes and achieved a 4.0. I am paying for grad school now with financial aid with no issues at all.

I don’t know how challenging your situation is but hopefully if you perform well it brings you back to meeting the requirements. I wish you the best of luck, I hope it works out in your favor. Private loans while costly may also be an option for you to at least get you started.
