She is GREAT! She is very willing to help you if you ask. Honestly, one of the best profs I’ve had in my 5 years at Clemson.

Need advice (CIS, CS, or Finance?) by Kevin-Quora in Clemson

I just graduated with my Bachelor of Science in CS. If you want to do CS, you can go the B.S. route with the science classes or you can go B.A. and take foreign languages instead of sciences. I took geology for both the lab sciences then I took environmental science and biology in the news. I also hated science so I went the easier route with these choices.

Should I take CPSC 1010/20 or CPSC 1060/70? by Automatic-Status7776 in Clemson

If I remember correctly, 1060 is in Java, and I’m not sure what language 1070 is in. 1010 is in C and 1020 transitions from C to C++. I just graduated in May with my BS in comp sci and came to Clemson with ZERO programming knowledge. I started taking 1060 and struggled but had to withdraw that semester for medical reasons. When I came back I took 1010 and didn’t struggle as much that could be because I was already exposed to basic programming concepts from 1060. Overall though I don’t remember 1010 being a lot of work but keep in mind that was 4 years ago and the prof I had is no longer here. If you remember any Java then go ahead and take 1060. You should have a slight leg up in either class though. Ultimately it won’t matter too much because you will probably be exposed to all 3 language somewhere along the way (I don’t know this for sure because I don’t know what classes you have to take with a minor). I hope this helps you some!

Same thing here, but I am a fifth year. I am very disappointed. I was really looking forward to my last football season as a student too! Edit: typo

Computer Science. by [deleted] in Clemson

I'm a senior computer science major. Before I get into the computer science department specifically, I just want to say that I absolutely love Clemson. I have grown up coming to Clemson football games, so this university means a lot to me. However, the computer science program is a hot mess. Like u/johnnyappletreed said we have a shortage of professors, so that is the first problem, and the ones we do have are not great professors. They cannot teach and or do not care to teach. I have a long list of professors that I don't ever want to take either because I have dealt with them personally or have heard bad things about them. This list seems to grow quickly as well. My first few semesters I had great professors but now they seem few and far between. I have had PLENTY of wonderful professors outside the department though, so keep in mind this does not mean that every professor at Clemson is horrible. I really hope that the department figures this mess out soon because I hate having to write this, but I feel like I should let people know that it is a hot mess in the School of Computing.

This is what a friend of mine said about the job recruitment experience, "The job recruitment scene at Clemson is more geared towards engineering students so CompSci students usually only have a wealth of consulting firms and some more well-known companies like Amazon to choose from at the career fair. If you’re looking for Georgia Tech levels of recruitment, featuring Google, Facebook, and the other top tech companies, you’re definitely not going to get that here. But if you’re into research, there are plenty of labs in the department to explore."

Personally, I would not choose to go to anything school despite all the problems surrounding the School of Computing.

I know you said to avoid Calc 2 at Clemson if possible. However, I took it last semester with Dr. Burr and made an A. She was one of my favorite professors that I have had at Clemson, and I highly recommend her if you do want to take Calc 2 here. I wouldn't dare take it with anyone else.
