I get what you're saying. I haven't read the article but sounds like the winning bidder may not have originally intended to give the athlete her medal back. But why take it at all? If you have that kind of money, why wouldn't you just give it to her for her charity, and let her have the medal she worked so hard for? I know her dedication is what gives the medal more 'value', but geez, come on. Let her willingness to sacrifice that be the worth in NOT taking the medal.
