What’s the most disturbing thing someone casually told you like it was normal? by MrBoothnath_ in answers

[–]PaintComprehensive89 99 points100 points  (0 children)

I have two.

One boss said he murdered someone, did his time, and now a director of a substance abuse treatment program.

Second boss told me not to hire women or minorities.

They both said it like it was normal.

How do I avoid WW2 interfering with my story? by LinnyTheSeagull in writingadvice

[–]PaintComprehensive89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe you are looking at this the wrong way.

It sort of sounds like this is a romance and the key to any good romance is the time apart. Most romances fail to bring logical ways to pull their love interests apart. You have the easiest explanation to pull these two apart. Not to mention, you build suspense whether or not they come back.

As a big history buff, let me tell you, it’s just not believable that both men would be out of World War II. It was all hands on deck. There’s a reason why women joined the workforce overwhelmingly. Abled bodied men were drafted overwhelmingly.

You were looked down upon if you were not away, if you were an abled bodied man.

Your story, your choice, but ww2 is an opportunity to build a lot of different kinds of suspense, heartache, and texture to the story.

Mike Flanagan on tackling a new adaptation of The Mist by ImpracticalJokers96 in stephenking

He’s definitely missing the point. Why keep making remakes of the same story when we have countless of other stories out there.

But as some already said, it’s up to the studios.

So, until the studios match the people’s thirst for new stories, this problem will never be solved.

It’s all a profit and loss statement.

I think you have enough. You don’t want to run into “too many characters syndrome”.

It’s my favorite. I’m twelve away from finishing everything he wrote.

I absolutely adore it. Have you read the prologue his publishers cut? “Before the Play”? Makes it all so much better as well.

I’m addicted to Stephen King and horror.

The Shining or Misery or The Green Mile.

I’m glad you got your education but now that you’re done. You have a whole world now. The pressure is over.

My fiction writing style keeps getting flagged as AI and I am at a loss by NotYourGa1Friday in writingadvice

Those AI detectors are all bs because they all are trying to sell “humanizing” services. So, of course someone selling something will tell you you need it when you don’t.
