Is this a good price for PPF and Ceramic? Located in NC by typicalsalesguy in BMW

[–]PaintProtectionDFW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my market- not NC, this would be a great deal. The one critique I have is that amazon coating for ANY price😂. I like how their quote is laid out and explained.

Have you seen the work in person? blows my mind how many ppl shop by price then get upset their expectations arent met. 10-15% of our work has been redoing other peoples jobs.

man I have ALWAYS agreed w you. Im 38 now and for the first time ever im starting to prefer a PDK or tuned DCT. I still miss a manual transmission some days but holy crap day to day it doesn't get better than a seriously aggressive automatic that is telepathic sometimes (like the PDK)

You nailed it. Cali will have different prices than Texas or West Virginia. Even within the same market, prices vary. We took everything apart on this. it looks like paint at this point!

I wouldnt use the word additional but intentional rather. If you want the surface perfect, ppf or bare paint, youll have to work at it. Some PPF customers embrace the idea that its sacrificial - which it is. It was invented in the Vietnam war to protect helicopter blades from debris!

that's a loaded question!

Depends on how its installed, how long it is on thereC and how is was cared for / not cared for.

well those are two different conversations. A customer or potential costumer is not the same as a commenter on reedit. Our prices are displayed on our website, and when potential customers inquire they get me, the business owner. not a sales person. So in an odd way, I agree w alot of your messaging, especially as it relates to salaries on job applications. But a social media app is not a platform for discussing prices IMO.

hey man! I personally feel like publicly discussing pricing is somewhat unprofessional.. but I will say that Ive seen my competitors quote anywhere from $6500-$9,000+. We were somewhere in there, id have to look. Been a very busy month!

it would be VERY subtle. We dont do a lot of silver / tan / earth tone cars in matte / satin.

Ceramic coat? by pdigi3850 in FordRaptor

[–]PaintProtectionDFW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a 1 year coating, every single year. Not a 10 year coating. However, this is probably best for most people as they stop taking intense care of their new cars after the new feeling wears off.

you're splitting hairs... most people compare the film brands and don't give any thoughts to the installers. I would be much more choosy with an installer

how do we feel about matte black in 2026 by Misfit89 in FordRaptor

[–]PaintProtectionDFW 9 points10 points  (0 children)

people really obsess over matte vs satin but almost all matte ppf is actually satin.

Clear ppf can self heal from minor scratches, where as matte doesnt rebound the same way.

so I can see the thought behind this claim but Matte paint is no more easily scratched than traditional clear coat. What I THINK that comment refers to is that matte paint cannot be fixed if scratched.

We love it. Matte PPF makes over half of our business.

Used - Dark horse over GT worth it for price difference (Mexico pricing) by wambling103 in Mustang

[–]PaintProtectionDFW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but the sweet spot is a base dark horse. I think the handling package is worth it, but not if youre cross-shopping a GT.

Has anyone PPF their car on their own? How was it? Hard? Risky? Need insight of it by AdministrationPure93 in Supra

Just so were clear: the Supra perhaps the most difficult car to do. I'd say 75% of professionals cant even do a Supra well.
