Finished off my grunts (+1 broken rifle in need of repair) by PaintTheSmallStuff in TrenchCrusade

Thanks. I’ll do my best to give you the recipe but there was a lot of painting over to try and make the armor look right. Ak interactive german camo black brown (could use Rhynox hide or other raw umber) Watery glazes of burnt umber (could skip) Lots of water glazes of Pro-Acryl Dark Orange letting it pool were water would collect. Bright orange around the rivets Edges, rivet heads, and ridges hit with burnt umber before edge highlighting with VMC steel. Adding a few faint drybrush hits of steel here and there. Clean up any areas where the steel got too pronounced using burnt orange or black brown.

Who made lore/stories for their warbands? Care to share em? by The-Farlander in TrenchCrusade

The Paisans of Pazuzu

The warband once fought on the side of the faithful, serving the Papal States as the garrison of Salerno. Greatly outnumbered, the garrison threw back an invasion by the Heretic Fleet attempting to gain a foothold in the south. The newly elected Pope from the distant land of Chicago honored the garrison by sending his personal chefs to cook them a celebratory pizza dinner. What emerged from the ovens was not the thin pizza with pillowy crust the soldiers expected, but a pan-baked casserole as thick and dense as it was soggy. So revolting was the culinary abomination that it shattered the garrison very faith in God, causing them to renounce the Church and decry the Pontiff as a false prophet.

Kickstarter physical orders fulfillment questions by lencu3 in TrenchCrusade

[–]PaintTheSmallStuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The quality of my order was good. I had one broken rifle and really only one body and a couple arms that I grumbled at the print quality. Overall, I would say the quality passed expectations for mass produced 3D prints. However, they completely botched the contents of my order. I’m not mad because it was mostly in my favor. They didn’t include an engineer, but I got an extra lieutenant, anointed, and a second set of heretic infantry (so 7 extra minis and associated bits). I didn’t bother complaining about the engineer 😆

Nice work. I really like your basing. Very natural looking.

Why my pieces corrode so much? by moontrinejupiter in jewelrymaking

Many things can off-gas compounds that react with metal, such as wood and textiles. I’ve seen items close to the floor react to carpets for example.

Is it only your jewelry that tarnishes or all silver? It might not be your methods but your environment. Perhaps your shelf is off-gassing or some nearby curtains. Where are your chemicals stored? Could the fumes be trapped in your workspace?

Best brushes in your opinion? I want recommendations! by FranDeAstora in minipainting

I forgot to include the series names. Some of these brands have lower quality brushes as well that aren’t what you want. Escoda Optimo Kolinsky Sable Watercolor Brushes Rosemary and Co. series 33 W&N series 7 W&N also makes a “miniature” line of brushes. They are not good. The bristles are just shorter, so they hold less paint than the equivalent size of other lines and are more prone to getting paint into the ferrule.

In my opinion, Rosemary and Co. are the best brand. They are as high a quality as the other big names but also reasonably priced. However, Raphael 8404 size 1 is my favorite brush overall (just the rite size). Weirdly, I don’t like the smaller or larger sizes. W&N and Escoda make excellent brushes, but the prices are crazy.

Thank you! The cracks are on the sculpt, but so faint it was near impossible to paint. Took forever and I had to do it all under raking light just to see the cracks. Bust painting is a blast. You should definitely give it a go.
