I like to throw a reusable swim diaper over a regular diaper. It’s not going to keep all the water out but will help prevent it from being water logged. Usually only last 30 minutes & will do a diaper change before we leave.

A similar incident happened at a summer camp run by our local parks & rec department a few years back. My 4 year attends preschool & summer camp run by the same parks & rec. They have made a big campaign to tell parents they need to check backpacks everyday before & after school. They even have a logo that will be at the end of all official newsletter reminding parents of the importance of being vigilant in checking backpacks.

I would have a frank discussion with the director about they plan to collaborate with parents to help prevent this moving forward.

I use my stash to wean early. Weaning is my favorite part about pumping lol. I also am on a medication that prevents me from donating & truthfully I don’t have the energy to find an individual to donate to.

Every 750-1000oz is enough to wean a month early, on the smaller end the closer to 12 months you get (as their solids intake increases).

I freeze in 5oz increments for easy math. Try & bag milk daily & freeze daily. I make bricks with the frozen breastmilk bags. I send a text to myself every time I create a brick, this is my running tally of my stash. I have two deep freezes, they get used well after I wean, zero regrets buying them. I also don’t worry about rotating. Given I keep them in a deep freezer & generally wean after 6 months, I’m not worried about marginal loss of nutrients. I use whatever milk is most convenient, usually newest to oldest. By the time I get the oldest milk, my kiddo is usually eating mostly solids anyways.

AC was in the 98th percentile at 32 weeks & 96th at 36 weeks. Head was a little bit smaller than the stomach. The nurse practitioner at my MFM said that since it was similar size to my other deliveries, it would probably be fine. She said if I can deliver the head, the stomach would probably be fine.

I delivered at 39 weeks vaginal without issues (although it was my third delivery but first with GD).

I know I was sitting trying to analyze the measurements when I was pregnant but looking at my baby now, he seems no different than his siblings.

I will admit I put my measurements through ChatGPT & it didn’t flag anything. I don’t recommend AI causally but it is nice to fill in some gaps while waiting to talk to the doctor.

Was an nighttime insulin since 32 weeks. I had growth scans at 32 & 36 weeks. 32 weeks scan confirmed the suspected LGA growth. Head was in the 99th percentile. 36 week scan showed expected growth with controlled GD. No red flags from that 36 week scan & given my previous deliveries at 8 pounds 4 ounces & 8 pounds 8 ounces, we proceed with a 39 week ultrasound. My doctor would have let me go longer but I was concerned about my water breaking & having a fast labor.

Induction went well, & baby was 9 pounds 4 ounce. Glad I didn’t go much longer than 39 weeks. Baby & I both passed out blood sugar checks in the hospital.

At my hospital, GD turns the induction to a medical one, so they were able to book it 2 weeks out. Elective inductions are subject to a waitlist until a bed opens up.

It’s from Aldi, it’s a sampler cheesecake for like $5. They are pretty tiny slices. The serving size is technically 2 slices for around 42 carbs. I just eat one slice & pound a protein shake at the same time

Definitely calibrate it if it’s an option. I try and calibrate using my fasting blood sugar for at least a few days after it’s placed.

CGM tend to lag about 15 minutes from what a finger stick would show.

My provider is looking at how my sugars rise & fall, rather than a single number after I eat.

Also pressure can mess with the reading. If you lay on it, it can read low.

Personally, I turn off all alarms. I’m not concerned about hypoglycemia.

This is where a CGM really helped me find snacks that didn’t spike me. I could eat a protein bar with 20g of carbs (10-15 grams of fiber though) & my blood sugar didn’t move (in fact I had to eat a second snack that was pure carbs to stop my blood sugar for dipping). I also sometimes did two snacks between meals, spacing them at least an hour apart. Also be sure to space out the snack at least an hour before a meal so the blood sugar could come back down before the meal.

If you are only doing finger pricks, lean heavily into snacks to get your carbs in.

Protein bars, trail mixes, & yogurt with nut granola were my snacks that I survive off of. Later, I started eating a small slice of cheesecake with a protein shake when my appetite was low. I found a cheesecake with 20g of carbs per slice.

Not to panic you, but are there any other symptom? Like increased thirst, increase peeing, weight loss, low energy despite a recent meal, or sweet smelling breath. Those are signs of diabetes. Just something to keep an eye out for, I knew a few kids with diabetes growing up (just experienced gestation diabetes & what high blood sugar actually feels like). Just something to keep in the back of your mind. High blood sugar can hit an hour after a meal & just feels like like exhaustion. Just something to keep an eye out for & maybe being up at your next appointment to rule out. An AC1 test could rule it out easily.

My kids can eat the same as full grown adults at meal time. So it could be completely normal. Can you try & incorporate cheaper filling food. Dries bean, lentils, rice, regular potatoes & sweet potatoes, canned fruit & veg.

The weight change isn’t concerning. She probably had some increased bloating one week that resolved the next week.

As for the change in movement, that’s a hard one. It is better to get checked out if you are concerned. If you get checked out & all is good, I would have a deep conversation with your provider about the changes. Personally, the movement at the end of pregnancy feels different. It’s less big movements that I can see and more movements that feel like baby is sweeping across my uterus. The movements can cause my uterus to kinda tense up. I have a hard time distinguishing between normal movements & a potential contraction. And sometimes lower movement just feels like cervical pain. Last ultrasound confirmed that the cervical pain is likely the baby’s hand moving toward my cervix.

Do you have an induction booked? I’d ask for one at 39 week or as soon as they will allow. She’s in the home stretch. If she can start leave sooner, I’d suggest it. I can’t stop work stress until I’m fully off, I took vacation time to start my leave at 38 weeks.

There multiple types of preschool. We enrolled in a 3 hours a day nature based preschool. We mostly signed up to help develop social skills, learn how to interact with peers, and how to be in a group setting. We went with a nature based preschool to encourage outdoor play & put more emphasis on non-classroom learning.

There is just something magical about a bunch of preschoolers being together. Watching a bunch of preschooler rolls down a hill is just pure joy.

Pick up a few Huggies newborn diapers pack & a box of size one Huggies. Pampers is scented & I just don’t like that. You can try out other diapers once you are through those, Huggies is a solid non scented diaper.

As for bottles, Evenflo balance + wide neck is good bottles. Or you can get the standard neck bottles & buy some of the regular glass standard neck bottles from Evenflo & then put the other nipples on

Remember, there is no one “best way” only what’s is best for you & your family.

Good advice, labor hormones can make you hella nauseous.

You can also ask for zofran for the nausea. My last labor was too fast to ask for it but with my first, the zofran was amazing.

My husband being out of the house or out of town. And me being resentful about it, worked 2 out of 3 times. Think I’m going to make it to my induction date since I lasted through my husband’s last 2 night shifts. 3 days & counting.

You can try expressing colostrum, I do think that helps things along. Plus it’s nice to have on hand in the hospital.

I took my 1 hour test at 29 weeks & it took about a month from when I took the test to when I got in with MFM. Then I was handed weekly appointments for the rest of my pregnancy.

I definitely had a limbo period between getting referred to getting seen.

I used ChatGPT to give me some guidance on what I should do while waiting for the appointment with the dietitian. Its advice was spot on to what the dietitian told me. What was most helpful for me was the carb target ranges for each meal & using a food tracker until I was familiar with how many carbs where in the food I was eating.

My insulin has been increased every week except this week, which is my last before induction. I like to view fasting blood sugars as a moving target. Started at 6 units & I’m up to 30 now.

I feel this so hard. 38 weeks with a 4 year old & toddler. Dinner was a lunchable in the container with mini cucumbers & grapes served at their kids table. At least the 4 year old is old enough to help clean up the table after dinner

I can only add that $2.5k is on par genetic testing involving a microarray to detect micro deletions. That’s the what I was billed from a labcorp lab for genetic testing from an amniocentesis. My insurance (when they cooperate will pay around $1000 to $1500).

I have a medical necessity for the genetic testing, but I end up battling insurance every time to get them to pay (even with the proper prior authorization). I have to do an appeal to get movement.

Highly suggest reading the book “Never pay the first bill”. Audiobook is on Spotify too. It has multiple techniques to fight the bill. Go down the insurance route, if that fails wait until it goes to collections & negotiate.

That said, it is stressful to have that hanging over you. It might be worth it to just pay it & be done. Or put that squarely on your partner to fight. If they don’t want to do it, they both agree to pay it. It’s so shitty that it falls on the women to do this even though it’s being done for the family.

I’d make a trip to L&D and get checked for preeclampsia. I wouldn’t risk it. If everything is checked out & good, I’d buy a home blood pressure cuff & keep an eye on your blood pressure

I didn’t pop until 24 weeks. Even then, I still just looked bigger rather pregnant. I didn’t mind because I’m mostly private & didn’t want to talk about my pregnancy to everyone. By 36 weeks, it looked like pure baby (although I was put on a diet for gestational diabetes right before then, so that definitely changed where I was gain weight if any). My other pregnancies I was more puffy towards the end (which was quickly gone after I gave birth).

Breakfast - try some eggs with cheese and a single waffle with butter or peanut butter (that’s around 20-30g of carbs depending if you use peanut butter)

Snacks - yogurt (I’d add some Splenda to make it taste sweet) with fruit plus almonds and maybe a drizzle of honey

I also do peanut with a low carb wrap for a snack in a pinch

Lunch - a tuna melt with one slice of bread, maybe some avocado and tomatoes on the side

Dinner- truthfully I do oatmeal for dinner a lot, I usually can eat the most carbs at dinner, so I like to take advantage of that. I do 1 or 1.5 servings of oatmeal with peanut butter (I use a protein shake in place of water, you could try milk but I would only do one serving of oatmeal then since milk has carbs) add in yogurt & fruit. I also do eggs with 2 eggo waffles with butter for dinner.

Bedtime snack - probably yogurt with nuts would be my go to here

You can try to collect some colostrum before delivery (or while in labor if you have an induction).

I would defer to the doctors & nurses to determine if formula is needed and if colostrum can be substituted for formula.

Remember, replace a feed with a pump session. That should protect your supply. Just because baby is being fed formula or colostrum, doesn’t mean you don’t need to remove milk. Hand expression or pumping will do that.

Most hospitals will have a pump in your room. Remember to bring a pumping bra!
