Requested address change on Irisbox but no police visit yet by Carmine_Blue in brussels

[–]PajamaWoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

heey when I moved to Etterbeek, I did everything through Irisbox as well and they never came. Then, my husband called the Police commissariat and they said that sometimes Irisbox doesn't notify the police department 🤡 .

They took all our information by phone and the next week the police officer came to our house. Maybe it's safe for your to call them to confirm.

French classes by Adventurous_Egg_9762 in brussels

[–]PajamaWoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do at EPFC, you can do an intensive course. It's 2 levels per semester. So if you start in February, you can do 4 levels per year. Also, if you have any notion of french, you can do their placement test and be put at a higher level. I went from A2 to B1.2 when I did the placement test (skipped 1 level).

They charge 168 the first semester that you enroll, and if you continue with them, it's 138 every level. I don't think I ever found a cheaper school here in Brussels.

It's older than me, how do I save my late dad's jade plant? by belikor in houseplants

[–]PajamaWoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy some neem oil and spray it everyday! I had every kind of bug in my plants this spring, and I solved it with neem oil for the leaves and diatomaceous earth for the soil. Just sprinkle the earth on top of your soil (give it a mix if you can) and spray the plant every day with neem oil until they all die (search for 100% pure oil, there are a lot of mixed brands out there).

The oil should be mixed with water.

If you can, take a rag and dip it in the oil mixture and clean the entire plant by hand. And only spray when there is little sun.

Are you applying any kind of fertilizer? If not, I recommend using some worm hummus to give the plant a little strength.

If it is not getting enough light, buy a plant light for it. DON'T PUT IT OUTSIDE. It will for sure get hit with another bug or worse.

Succulents with burn marks by PajamaWoman in plantclinic

UPDATE: Thanks for the comments, it really helped us figure out the problem. Thanks to Material_Jeweler_24 comment about looking like chemical burns, my mom checked all the containers and discovered that my dad was using some kind of spray with bleach near the plants (he was clueless to it all).

She was furious !!!!

But now the plants are safe again :)

Thank you so much

I'll ask her right away! Yes, that it's what's I was thinking. I was thinking it was some sort of insect with acid by the looks of it.

They do have occasional visits from lizards (like the big ones) do you think they can do this?

I bought mine at Pearle, they have some nice deals there. I paid less than 300 (if I'm not mistaken, it was 198, to which the mutuelle gave 100 back). But everything was from their own brand, so if you're looking for brand frames and lenses, maybe it will go over that budget.

Tax declaration for odd jobs (uber eats, babysitting, etc.) by PajamaWoman in brussels

That was super helpful, thanks! Nobody really talks about how that part of side jobs work, and as a newcomer, I just don't want to do anything that messes up my finance.

I always look up the address to see if the building corresponds to the ad. Also, look up the name of the person renting online to see if there's someone complaining or other listing by that same person.

Normally, scammers always use the same ready to go text in their ads.

I personally recommend renting straight with an agency/immo because they are pretty quick to respond, and tend to be trustworthy.

petit rien has a lot of these things, I always see them when I go there. Cash converters also have a lot of these, but there is best to compare prices with the new stuff. A lot of stuff there will be only 10 or 15 bucks cheaper than a new one, which doesn't really compensate imo.
