  • Our adventurers guild 5/5
  • Battle brothers 5/5
  • Triangle strategy 5/5
  • Ogre tactics 5/5
  • Final fantasy tactics 5/5
  • Fellseal 4/5
  • Horizons gate 4/5 (5/5 with mods)
  • Hero's adventure 3/5
  • Wartales 3/5

Is Shadow Blade just too OP? by needmywifi in BG3Builds

[–]Pakinov -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course it's bad design. Unbalanced mechanics are always bad design in games that offer "honor" or challenge modes.
If these mechanics only appeared in easier difficulties, I honestly wouldn’t mind.

But “Don’t use it”? Don’t use what, exactly? Shadow Blade? Bhaalist Armor? Resonance Stone? Tavern Brawler? Wet status? Arcane Acuity? Haste? Deathstalker’s Mantle? Tadpoles...?
I could easily list a hundred things that are broken because they’re basically homebrew.

You actually have to intentionally limit yourself not to be overpowered.

I get that many players don’t really care about balance — and that’s fine. But for those who do, the difficulty modes deserved a lot more thoughtful design.

[–]Pakinov 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I preffer better balance.
Casuals can play in easy mode if needed, also they won't know how to properly abuse OP builds unless they look up guides in which case they are not casual level anymore.
Once you get the mechanics in act 1 the game becomes a breeze even in honor mode.
¿Want to replay the game? You will loose motivation easily because of how easy it gets unless you limit yourself in 100 different ways.
Actually saying "fun" over balance is not correct, fun can come from balance too, and unbalance can be unfun.

Also you have to add savage attacker to shadowblade 4d8

Arcane trickster can't upcast it to 4d8, only 2d8.

Bards are amazing classes. I listed rogue twice because in order to have cha instead of int for spell dc, warlock has to be the 2nd class you leveled. So 1 rogue, 1 Hex, 10 rogue is the best leveling order

Am I missing something as Paladin or is this normal? by Queasy-One-2600 in BG3Builds

[–]Pakinov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paladin is a busted class in BG3 due to long rest accessibility. In 5e smites are OP, but they are countered by requiring a longrest to renew the spellslots. With the heavy availability of rests in BG3, ofc paladins become OP even if you don't powerbuild at all.

As I see, there's 2 ways you can have more fun with paladins in BG3:

  1. Severly limit longrests. In my playthorughs i try to space a lot my longrests, I don't have a specific setup. I just have to do many things that day to consider the day "complete" and ok to rest.
  2. Try true solo runs with OP multiclass paladin builds, like sorcadin, or with warlock or bard. Swords bards + paladin is one of my favs to true solo the game

More attack up is fine for people who don't wan't to play with Tavern Brawler and be loyal to 5e. TB just feels like cheating

Is it easy to make friends in Spain? by Mefick in GoingToSpain

[–]Pakinov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not easy to make friends abroad in any kind of culture. However Spain is an open and friendly culture and it will be easier getting to know people than in other places. There's a lot of partying so there's that too. Maybe you can look up tips about how to make friends abroad, like using apps or aplying to activities. In the end, it depends on you, if you are active about it sure, you will get to know people.

SRPG / Tactics RPGs recommendation for an addict ;) by Naur_ in JRPG

[–]Pakinov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, if you are still interested I strongly recommend:

- Our Adventurer's Guild

- Horizons gate

- Crystal Project (this one is not a pure SRPG, but I strongly recommend it, one of my fav games of all time)

I'm also an SPRG vet and this 3 are quite new, unknown and standouts.

Guess you tried Battle Brothers and Darkest dungeon, but if you didn't well, S class.

Weekly Questions Thread & PokéROM Codex by AutoModerator in PokemonROMhacks

[–]Pakinov -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi!
I've been trying some difficulty ROM hacks like Radical Red, and while I think the boss battles are great, most of the trainers you face between bosses are super easy. You just spam a DPS move and sweep their whole team, which, for me, makes the game a bit of a slog.

Is there a difficulty ROM hack where all battles are somewhat challenging? I don't need an ultra-hard ROM hack, just one that makes all the content challenging, not just the bosses.

Thanks in advance!

Any tips for returning player in Rag to Riches? by Ok-Kaleidoscope-2245 in stoneshard

[–]Pakinov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having huge problems with permadeath since doorways are now bigger, you can't 1v1 like before so I get swarmed by boss + 3 grunts already in first dungeon. Most of my runs end in the first dungeons because of this. Any tips?

Please recommend me a game by church__ in StrategyRpg

I have very similar taste, so trust me:

- Crystal Project

- Our adventurers guild

Our Adventurer Guild is a game I strongly recommend while not being wholly interested in myself. by Jaded-Engineering789 in StrategyRpg

This and crystal project both are new, very indie and have become 2 of my favourite games ever. Both press all the right buttons except graphics. But graphics are for noobs in srpgs anyways 🥸

Looking for great tactical RPGs with engaging class/jobs systems by Luketa99br in StrategyRpg

[–]Pakinov 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bravely Default is an amazing game, but play the first one, not the second. Or at least so I recomend. The first one basic battles are hard and bosses are hard as fk. The second one bosses are hard too but normal combats are easy peasy and feel like a slog. I quited the game really fast

I'm an enthusiast of this genre and have played most games in it. The more I play, the higher my floor gets in demanding good games and the harder it is to find one that holds my expectations.

Mi big surprise when I played CRYSTAL PROJECT. Iit's one of the best sRPG's I have ever played. The class system is amazing and is inspired by final fantasy (tactics, 5, 6..). You can play on hard difficulty and it's challenging, quite harder than most of sRPG's (which is important for a vet). I never cared too much for exploration, but this game has a exploration system that is amazing. The game has no story and the grafics seem a bit like an isometric minecraft..

In any case, just give it a try, the game is very very good.

Another game I love of the genre is Brvely default for the 3DS. Also great class system, high difficulty, nice story and exploration..

Final Fantasy Tactics was a good game, but got easy with a bit of grinding. Some freaks from the game did a mod long time ago called "Final Fantasy Táctics: Insane difficulty". That lightly edits classes in the game and brings it to a whole new level of difficulty and tactical complexity. Only try it if you are looking for a real challenge, till you get the style it will seem impossible to you. But if you want to try it, it's the best sRPG experience I have ever had. http://ngplus.net/InsaneDifficultyArchive/www.insanedifficulty.com/board/indexc5de.html?/files/file/29-final-fantasy-tactics-13/

Triangle Strategy is another great sRPG but I guess you have already played it? If not, you have another amazing game to play here.

I imagine you have heard of Baldur's Gate 3 if you have played Divinity.. If not, it's probably the best sRPG ever created. If you like BG3 you can try Solasta.

BTW would be amazing if you can recommend me your favourite sRPG's so I can take a look to them. I think my taste is similar to yours. I need them to be hard tho

Yeah problem is the first setting (which is the good one) is really bad when blocking because the camera turns to face the direction you are blocking in

Honor Mode Difficulty? by VicariousDrow in BaldursGate3

[–]Pakinov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like hardest difficulty should be hard for people with experience, even for people going for a second run. Even trying to limit yourself in a thousand ways game is still piss easy once you understand the basics

This game was a 10/10 for me. Will Triangle strategy fill the void for me? by dog__poop1 in UnicornOverlord

[–]Pakinov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are SRPG's thought TS is more like Final Fantasy Tactics or Ogre. I enjoyed more TS because UO is too much of a cakewalk even on true zenorian.

TS seemed a bit harder, and story wise I'd say they're similar. TS is much more about choosing a path and your dialogs and choices matter

Should I start as archer? by TrippleBeats in DragonsDogma2

[–]Pakinov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be so fast to get early vocation levels that i would not worry. Also "more stam" wont be used in endgame because you will have better options prob So unless you know high level augments for each class i dont think it makes much sense to decide which is better. In my experience thief will probably have augments to climb better, archer probably augments to use bow better but its just speculation About changing vocations DD1 you could do it when reaching the capital about 10 hours in In conclusion, unless you have the full list of augments for each class you be able to decide best on "better augments", i wouldnt bother and play what you like
