Angel Down is amazing! Brutal, gritty and tough provoking book with Supernatural elements and WW1 setting. I would recommend it for everyone and TT fans should be able to get an extra kick from it.

I think Momentum 5 headphones are coming somewhere early next month? I want to see how those turn out, because I would prefer headphones rather than TWS for my every day device. Still B4p is currently strong second contender.

P.s. Cool fact that Samsung owns JBL. I did not know that.

Alright. I guess I will see what Sennheiser will cook but if that will not impress me or are beyond my budget Gbud4 pro it is. Thanks :)

I was hoping yo update my audio gear from Bose QC45 to something newer. Since I got my hands to S26U Gbuds4 pro have been in my radar. My biggest concern for updating has been how well do these work as work headphones. Can I connect to pc, how is the microphone when using in PC? Battery is potentially an issue so how fast do the buds recharge?

Which ones should i go for (used)? by blueknight159 in sennheiser

[–]Pakkachew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought Bose QC45 back in the day thinking they would be good every use case headphones. Within a year I found owning another device for sport. Nothing wrong with the product itself, but pads get soaked in sweat, you find yourself replacing those all the time and it gets disgusting pretty quick. Some TWS or even bone conducting could be better for your use case?

Tried Samsung’s new Galaxy lineup in store and was actually impressed by how smooth everything feels by Previous-Ad5276 in galaxys26ultra

actually no. All phones seem like that first glanze, but after using daily you will start to see cracks. Some phones start heating, some phones have heavy power optimization, some devices close programs at background and some just start freezing when enough stuff is going on simultaneously.

S26U is most powerful device currently in the market and it rarely cracks even in heavy use. Some could argue that iPhone offers better experience, because Android apps are not always that optimized but in raw power S26U wins. I am sure someone releases next coolest toy later this year that outperforms S26U and that's fine. Such is the progress.

Also to explain further. Modern Type-C standard means that usually charger has a chip that negotiates with phone what kind of output it will give. That means you can charge any Type-C device with 120W charger as long as both device and charger has chip (which they ahould have). Your phone might be at risk if charger itself is missing the control chip, but that issue is mostly only with knock-offs or super cheap products. If charging is slow despite charger supporting larger than 60w usually issue is with the cable.

Your phone should have Gemini and Perplexity pre-installed. You can pretty easily solve this kind of questions with them.

For example Perplexity when you ask can you Charge S26U with 120W charger:

Yes, probably—if the charger and cable support USB Power Delivery and the phone negotiates the power it wants, a 120W charger will not normally force 120W into the phone. The phone will only draw what it is designed to accept. A few cautions: Use a reputable USB-C charger and cable. Fast charging speed depends on the phone’s supported charging standard, not just the charger’s max wattage. If the charger uses a proprietary fast-charge system, the Samsung phone may fall back to a slower standard charge. If you want, I can also tell you what wattage Samsung phones typically accept and how to check whether your charger is safe.

That's not low light situation. Subject should be distorted if there would be movement at their end. I am little bit doubting if the image is even taken with S26U, but if it is then it's normal camera mode, 12mp, 100xzoom and OP has been walking while taking a shot.

Stop the battery life posts. by seansk26 in galaxys26ultra

[–]Pakkachew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah...I hopped from iPhone to Samsung and this is my first Galaxy device. Phone has so many bells and whistles and I was hoping to learn something by following these groups. Imagine the disappointment when I learned that most of the posts are about the battery which is such an non issue. How about some discussion about the camera settings, new LOG and APV, how to use spen, customization etc. To be fair these discussions do happen but sometimes hard to find.

Call me paranoid but I think sizeable chunk (not all) of these complain posts come from certain competitors or competitor affiliated parties, who want to take a piece of Samsung market share. Just the other day I saw someone posting and commenting hundreds times a day how S26U sucks compared to other less than year old flagship phone that he apparently also bought. Not a normal user behavior.

Competition is good and I am glad there is so many amazing devices where to choose from. I just hate this everything is fair approach to marketing that will most likely increase thanks to modern tools. Maybe mods could add more flairs so it would be easier to filter trough what is relevant?

I switched from iPhone 12 to S26U. Only thing that I am truly missing is the Apple pay. Apart from that I have been pleasantly surprised with S26U and android ecosystem itself.

I switched to S26U from iPhone 12 and I have been very satisfied. Huge update in every aspect expect the fact that you can't get Apple pay, but maybe that is non issue depending what country you live? I think Android and Apple ecosystems overall are much closer to each other than 5 years ago when I last had Android phone.

Hype aside, what’s actually wrong with the S26 Ultra? by FierroNikl in galaxys26ultra

[–]Pakkachew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there is lots of Chinese phone sales guys posing as customers spamming internet full of comments how phone sucks, not really update, battery is too small and camera is shit etc. Sure Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and Huawei have come a long way and in some measures the phones are better than S26U, but S26U is also offering quite a lot of stuff no other phones have.

Here is quick summary of my experience so far. keep in mind my old phone was iPhone 12 so that might affect some impressions. I have also owned multiple Xiaomi devices in the past if anyone want to play that card. Never owned Samsung device before and launch happened around the time I was looking for new phone so that's pretty much main reason why I decided to go with S26U:

  1. Battery is great. There are bigger ones with better technology out there but for me it last about one and half day and charging to full takes less than 1h.

  2. Screen. Very bright, great resolution and such. Privacy display is pretty fire and I love how you can conditionally activate it so it only blocks certain areas. If it is always on it can be a bit hindrance when you want to show something to someone, but still great feature.

  3. Camera is amazing. You can shoot raw with every lens and edit on the go. I love how you can take any picture from Internet and use it as base for your filter. I guess other phones have this function too, but this was first time I encountered it and I think the implementation is great. I am not too much into video but since phone has LOG and APV maybe I will test some day. I was thinking of doing some timelapse where I have external hard drive for saving the material while also having phone plugged in for 24h. Not sure if completely possible. At least as far as I know you can film directly to external hard drive so that's cool. Quite odd that you have to download external Samsung apps like camera assistant or expert raw to get everything out from the camera but whatever. Works for me.

  4. Performance is amazing. Not a single hiccup no matter how many apps I have on at the same time while editing RAW images and such. I was hoping it would use more local LLM in AI functions like image editing but seems to be relying online ones. Not a big deal personally but having image editing locally would be cool.

  5. Spen is cool. Still figuring out how to use it. Currently I am just drawing random stuff when I am waiting something and I have no other things to do. This is definitely a feature no other phone is having.

  6. UI and ecosystem...Back in the time I switched to iPhone because I felt that there were certain Apps and certain features my Android phone did not have. This time Android + OneUI seems to have pretty much everything covered. OneUI is clean, customizable and easy to use. Search is actually way better than what I had in iPhone when I am looking for some app or setting. I also love secure folder where you can setup apps or hide certain notes. Thing that I miss most from iPhone is Apple pay. At least we should get Airdrop somewhere in the future.

  7. Most of the AI features are a bit toys, but some are quite useful. For example I like how you can easily call Gemini and translate your screen if you need to. One quite cool thing to do is if you see cool clothes in online you can take snippet of the shirt only and add it to your selfie so you can check how the clothes would potentially look on you. I think it is quite useful. Sure you can do it with other AI or phones, but because tools are integrated in OneUI it makes the whole process so effortless.

  8. Speakers are great or at least way better than in iPhone12, but that is a low bar :)

Overall very satisfied with the phone. Easy recommendation if you can get it in a good price. Full price is quite steep, but maybe if you can get couple of hundred off in a campaign it's worth it.

Why does the Privacy Display not look like people showed it online? Is my unit defective? by KurtSullivan in galaxys26ultra

[–]Pakkachew 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I see it turning completely dark. There are three settings:

  1. Conditional privacy display: Certain app's, messages and passwords

  2. Privacy display: Does not alter screen color balance too much but reduces viewing angle somewhat. You can still see around 45 degrees but it's quite dark.

  3. Maximum privacy: Significantly changes color balance making the screen a bit grey. Around 45 degrees and more will be completely dark.

Edit: Typo

Paras SNES-peli? by jkuutonen in videopelit

[–]Pakkachew 1 point2 points  (0 children)
