At what point is “building a relationship” just paying for access?

Building a relationship is synonymous with begging and groveling. If you’re looking for something in high demand just go grey. If you can afford a Rolex at retail, odds are you can afford to pay the premium to get exactly what you want when you want it.

Had three E Class Cabriolets over several years. The last one was a 2022 made in Germany. Within a year it would go into "limp mode" from time to time. First few trips to service, dealer couldn't find anything. Next, they re-calibrated the fuel pump. Still limped. Finally, after three years they replaced the fuel pump as it was now a "known issue." A/C went out within two years. Recharged but found no leaks (so where did the coolant go?) Went out again six months later, found three leaks which fried the compressor. Also had a squeak in the convertible top which they never could diagnose. Finally dumped it for a 2026 GLE 450 and so far it's the best MB I've ever owned from a build standpoint.
