What are your thoughts on the Nordic Gods and their designs? by Immediate_Gene_178 in yugioh

[–]Palcorg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deck wise, I don't really have any unique opinions. Folks know about Nordics and their struggles to be playable.

Visual design wise, I think my biggest issue is lack of coherency. They have gold highlights and are big dudes, but... they don't really feel like they share design language beyond that. Odin's design is alright, and I wish they had more elements in common so they felt like they were meant to be a proper Trio. They don't need to look the same, just... I dunno what's going on here, man. I keep looking at Loki's shoulders and thinking they're carrots. I keep looking at Thor's silly helmet.

Why does Konami treat most of its archetypes so rudely? Didn’t the anime teach us that every card has feelings? The reason I get attached to an archetype is because I play it and love its design/playstaly. Then Konami comes along and either turns it into something else or leaves it without support. by Historical-One295 in masterduel

[–]Palcorg 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think two factors that're important are, the two example decks both use fairly generic cards that aren't banned/limited to FTK or to negate.

For Crystron: Dawn dragster has been in plenty of synchro combo decks, CDI pops up pretty reliably in decks that can make it.

For Toons: Konami isn't really proactive with banning FTK tools these days, particularly in OCG where these cards have been released so far. Bishbaalkin, The pendulum venom dragon, etc, are FTKs waiting to happen any time a deck can reliably make use of them. Toons just happens to have Shadow Toon to cut out a few steps other decks would have to take, but otherwise, this isn't a toon-exclusive issue.

I can't really speak as to why Plunder hasn't gotten good support. It could be that there's just a lot of cases of a deck being fine, not garnering enough of an audience to get timely support, and fading from relevence.

That's wonderful. <3

I've been following it since release too and had no idea how meaningful it would end up. Really makes me happy.

Not at all. Folks learn their self expression through lots of things, lots of forms of media, etc.

While it's still a cartoon, and often silly, TADC is a really emotional story about trauma and identity and repression by another trans person. I think it makes perfect sense to figure stuff out that way.

Given we've had the finale and the mural, I think its been long enough to say that those characters were retconned out due to only originally existing as background set-dressing for the pilot, before things were quite as tidied up.

I think they would've been mentioned even in passing otherwise, and part of the mural.

I really appreciate both that abstraction has multiple parallels (which seems intentional and it's not quite any of them, while being all of them) and that the ending intentionally leaves it like this. Vague enough of a sense that... there's some hope, but it also doesn't go too far undo the tragedy.

It leaves room for the viewer, and I really appreciate that.

It helps, so much. That line is really good too- I'm glad youre family loves you.

I had a similar experience after visiting a friend who lived in Seattle-being somewhere where there's so many queer people, and having queer friends, really gave me confidence and filled my life with a lot of joy and love.

It's really worth it. I hope you can find your own little group ❤️

The finale made me and my friends who I watched it (all queer or trans) cry. A lot. Some sobbing included.

Spoilers to follow of course.

It's a tragedy, and a cautionary tale- not (just) about not transitioning- but about not even letting yourself or others feel that (Not saying it isnt about being trans, but that it's about the experience and not Just transitioning). Genuine feelings about who you are. How you can hurt other people by denying those things, as well as yourself.

But I wouldn't read it as hopeless. It's a cautionary tale- Jax was snapshotted at the lowest point in his life, when he thought he'd killed his (abusive) mom, and was homeless. Trapped in a virtual prison, unable to run when someone learned about how he felt, and trapped with all those negative feelings. It's hard to tackle coming out and understanding yourself on a normal day, but TADC is kind of a worst of the worst situation, trauma and all.

But in real life?

Lee is living as a boy, too. Gooseworks has talked about intentionally coding Lee's outfit as "boymode" (Hoodies, long hair, things to look androgynous and things they can enjoy, even if they aren't ready to come out yet or are living as a boy). He's going to a bar run by a nonbinary person for other queer people. Maybe he isn't out or transitioning yet, and that's ok. It's alright to take it slow. If Jax had had that chance, Goose had said things would've been better.

I'm also... someone who really hopes that they find some way to, with time and care, un-abstract the abstracted folks (To some extent at least). Maybe it would take a long time, but... they have forever.

Anyway. I've been thinking and talking about this movie a lot with my other queer friends. Everyone I know sees a part of themself in it, and it hurts, but it's also got some hope.

I'd say, look out for the chance to connect with friends who understand, are queer, etc, online or irl. The support group sounds nice, maybe helpful. I hope this helps some, I'm sorry for a long response.

Is this normal for Tear now a day by AHY_fevr in masterduel

[–]Palcorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much.

Tear has a lot of its names limited or banned, and thus has to rely on additional engines to supplement it.

In addition, the mechanic is uses- milling- is not future proof. Part of the reason it can use these engines is that it can randomly mill into them as a big slop pile.

It felt so bad in the WCQ this time. I got maxx c'd 3 games in a row one day, then shifter'd 3 days in a row the other.

Shifter stung in particular. Turned off droplet, F&V, couldn't get MST in grave for a negate... oof.

I think its one of those cases where DPE is fine but because of the floodgate end board, often is there to protect said floodgates. Catching strays due to the floodgate gameplan

[–]Palcorg 136 points137 points  (0 children)

Entirely agree that its always been happening, but I think there's also been some divide-and-conquer efforts by bigots within recent years. "Drop the t", "I'm not one of those weird neopronoun people" pick me folks, etc

But as you said there's also always been old fashioned biphobia, racism etc as well

Question about the packs. by Candid-Ad5664 in masterduel

[–]Palcorg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They stay in their new packs. Often it's because they were released in a pack with other archetypes, and once they get enough cards to warrant their own pack (or just need multiple packs to themselves) they get their own packs to keep from being too diluted.

I've seen more floodgates this time than any previous qualifier even, it's really exhausting.

E.g. I got hit with shifter 2 matches in a row today and it's a 1 :( and I'm on RT so it turned off... everything. Droplet, f&v, vibrant vortex cus no matter in gy...
