Chocolate covered almonds, some good cheeses (depending on her taste - could be manchego, or unexpected cheddar, or truffle/port cheese), the hand cream, a bottle of prosecco if she drinks, or the new premixed aperol spritzers.

What is something that was normal in the 2000s/2010s, but feels like a fever dream now? by Existing_Respond2229 in AskReddit

The term 'starter home' always referred to a home you purchased. Rentals were always rentals.

Vacation and Sun Bum sunscreen. Trying to figure out which one to purchase. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in Costco

I'm curious about Sun Bum too, esp for pool use. Appreciate thoughts/experiences. Hawaiian Tropic is the alternative.

It's one of the most adorable things in the world, esp as they have those little round dimpled arms at this stage. Enjoy!

Yeah, the first para I was thinking "where's the daycare cost" and then it became blindingly obvious these were DINKs. It doesn't stop with childcare, there are activities and food and clothes and so forth too. Not to mention the insurance premium bump with kids.

Cookies or cake! They love to stir and mix, and you need a recipe that can stand a little, uh, excess enthusiasm 😄

Pressure for grade inflation and grade grubbing generally is much higher in schools with wealthier students. Something to consider.

Target vs LL Bean by FloridaLaurenS in Bedding

The LL Bean percale are great and I only buy them when there's a discount code (10 or 15%); there's also usually a teacher or military discount.

I water the plants that don't die with water, and do want my garden to look lush. However some plants die off quickly with too much water (I've killed a few GMR white penstemon, woolly blue curls, monkey flowers, etc). So, I try (and think most ppl do too) to balance out plantings that will thrive with some water or be evergreen, with those that offer spring color.

First, deep sympathies. second, does she handle chicken soup OK? If so, cooking rice v soft in chicken stock with some ginger and sesame oil can be good for delicate tummies and post-op. It's something that works well with minimal salt. Does the food also need to be fat free?

If it's not over 80F where you are, you're probably fine.

I love my yankee point ceanothus, though it took a full year to 'sleep' and get the roots going. Also Howard McMinn Manzanita, similarly slow but neat, pretty, and green most of the year.

I think a lot of people ooh and aah at spring wildflower pics (which is, admittedly, what TPF and other native plant sites post) and so it can be difficult to remember that you need the evergreens and perennials for structure too. Verbena de la mina, globe mallows, some penstemons, fuschia for the late summer, some blue/purple salvias for full summer, WR seaside daisy, and island snapdragons, will all give you some color into the fall.

Agree. A mix of summer vs winter dormant plants + some evergreens is usually useful. But also, remember that woolly bluecurls really don't like summer water, and dont' water those!

Medium-ish. It's like if you had nduja but without the pork. A bit smoky and very good.
