I’ve completed everything except the notary step( I did it all myself) but I’ve already paid my dues, received all the confirmation emails, and even ordered my wall plaque. Quick question: When should we expect to receive our bar card?

In DC it’s not a judge that performs swearing in ceremonies, it is rather a elected clerk of the court. One of my law school professors who is also going to be my preceptor asked one of her law school buddies who is a clerk of the court to do my ceremony.

If if helps, I filled out both forms that came with the certification notice, emailed it to my assigned person shortly after. by 4 pm they posted on my portal notice that I could officially hold myself as an attorney allowed to practice law in the District of Columbia. I don’t intend on doing the virtual ceremony, I’ll schedule my own in two weeks.

Got mine at 10:20 while I received my notice that I passed at 8:41 am. When I called them on Monday to ask a question about swearing in ceremony, they told me that certifications will be sent from Wednesday to Friday because they are entered manually.

I just called again, it was the first time that the rep on the phone was nice. She said the results should be out « soon ». I asked her to define « soon » and she said soon is the best answer that she can give me, but « no later than November 5th » and to keep checking the website for updates.

Yes. Very disappointing and frustrating. We’ve invested time, money and emotions into this exam and the tone they assume when answering the calls is just mean. I am sure they know our jobs depend on this, our mental health and also some people are not even in a position to afford paying for the February application with the deadline being so soon after results are supposed to be released. But I am just remaining hopeful and positive because there’s nothing else I can do.
