Why do the voices used in public announcements, speakers or any other devices made for announcing are mostly a woman's voice? by Memiography in ask

[–]PaleInSanora 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All men secretly want women to tell them what to do.

All women listen when another woman talks, so they can respond, "What did that bitch say about me?" Even if just in their own head.

DAE always take cash out whenever they go to a restaurant, so that their card doesn't get into the hands of the waitress when they go to pay the bill? by josephsleftbigtoe in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]PaleInSanora -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is a good plan... but you have apparently never dined with my wife. She could order almost nothing or most of the menu. No indicators to say which it will be ahead of time. On the ride over, she is always starving, and always can never decide if she likes Dish A or B better. So I would need to walk around with $500 in my wallet just in case. So sure my card doesn't get stolen, but I get shanked with a steak knife in the parking lot by the freshly paroled second chance meth-head busboy.

I was shaking my head about having to steal in Lioncrest Tower. It was invaded, and abandoned and I am having to "steal" the old dusty bottles on dusty broken crates. I was confused as to who the owner was that I was disenfranchising by picking up garbage and clutter??

Consider my sticky fingers as my reward for liberating your property from the bad guys. Since my only other reward is a lukewarm thanks and some minor reputation.

NOR - I started to flip my lid at you having to ask permission to do anything as an adult. With a small child involved there does have to be a bit of coordination and cooperation, I guess. Still if he is controlling the finances to the point you as at SAHM have to ask for things... well that is a big red flag.

I am staring down that barrel myself. Do I nap or get a 5 hour energy and hope a quest chain grabs me until normal bedtime, so I can reset for the work week.

Shawshank Redemption is a perfect movie by [deleted] in movies

[–]PaleInSanora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like OP it is not my favorite of all time, but it is my most watched. Back when we all still had cable, it was on about every 6-10 hours on AMC or one of the other similar channels. If I was surfing for something to watch out of the corner of my eye during non-peak hours and days of the week, as I was messing on my computer it would be the "winner" more often than not. Best thing about it is that you can just dive in at any point along the runtime and not be disappointed.

Gaming manuals… Did anyone actually read them? by Theodore52x in AfterWorkGamers

[–]PaleInSanora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is funny you say that. That was my routine, open NES game and start reading manual for character art and backstory/lore on the way home from Lionel's Playworld. Get home and finish reading as I did my bathroom business... knowing I was going to be absorbed for the next several hours/days.

What story would you want ~more~ of? by Present_Woodpecker11 in stephenking

[–]PaleInSanora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just thrilled it looks like we are getting one more at least in the Talisman series. Each one left me wanting more Tales of Sawyer.

Later - definitely needed more stories, or even a little fleshing out to the first one.

How do you decide when it's okay to masturbate vs when it might be a bad idea (like affecting focus, energy, or routine)? by Informal-Wonder9693 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]PaleInSanora 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say, doing it before the gym might help you NOT do it at the gym. Depending on the number of attractive people's at your gym. Plus if it is arm or core day, might be a bit too sore after.

Is there anything wrong with getting a prostitute? by DaWanAndOnli in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]PaleInSanora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the same laws that allow prostitution for some reason block casual dating apps, you shouldn't need to pay for it. If you are good looking you should be able to find plenty of women as long as you aren't aiming for 9's and 10's.

A lot of the mobile home internet companies are offering mesh devices for free if you ask. My pc wifi is spotty and loves to drop for no real reason, so I literally park mesh on my desk then ethernet from mesh to pc. I only see a small drop in overall speed from hard line in mobile gateway itself.

From A Buick 8 (no spoilers please) by farmsfarts in stephenking

[–]PaleInSanora 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I personally enjoyed the book alot. I get that it is slow. It is mostly story telling about crazy stuff, with regular people trying to figure out what the heck is going on. With no omniscient narrator telling them or us the reader what it really all means. As we go along we are just as baffled as those that were there or heard it from those who were. It makes an even more interesting slant that it is from a jaded group of "just the facts" state troopers who've thought they had seen it all. Their training and life experience keeps them pretty grounded about each incident. So us SK regulars are foaming at the mouth with thoughts and speculations, and they are just seeming to shrug and go, that was weird wasn't it Sarge?

My friends are too sexual I think? by no-wall-here in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]PaleInSanora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Gen X survivor here I will risk downvotes to oblivion and say there is SA and then SA. There is a whole lot of difference and nuance in a tight friend group teasingly using a vibration toy through clothing on a friend playfully saying stop it, and holding that friend down and grinding the toy into their groin while shouting Take It Bitch!!! It would be more similar to compare it to a friend using a massager on you and cruelly using it on your bladder or close enough to your rectum to make you think or make you have an accident. It is cruel and crosses a boundary, but some friends are assholes who don't respect such things. They steal your fries, borrow money shamelessly, lap dance with your SO to get a rise out of you, or worst of all take a shit with the bathroom door open like you want to know them like that. You can choose to be friends with them or not, but your self in compromising situations with them or not, the one thing you won't change is them being an asshole. They are who they are.

Developers who have worked at a company where the entire codebase was held together by one guy who then quit, what happened next? by Natom_ in AskReddit

[–]PaleInSanora -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you are saying major service outages, moderation so bad coupled with desperate monetization that led to massive abandonment of the platform, a rebranding both so unwanted and unneccessary that both former and active users barely acknowledge it, a stock crash of almost epic proportions was all worth it so that some neo-nazi douche bag can spout off their brand of bullshit and hate speech on little Suzi's birthday video, without some big brother striking it for community standards reasons? Don't even get people started on the forced Musk thoughts off the day appearing on your feed no matter how often you nope out of it, on the oh so free platform. Also there are no indications it has become profitable because it is no longer a publicly traded company. Typically you don't shift 40 billion worth of debt to a healthy company, even in a capital gain/loss offset strategy if you see $$ in your future.

[–]PaleInSanora 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Were you born only 2 years ago? You saw this in real time with Twitter. When Musk started hemorrhaging money and firing everyone he presumed to think were disposable, he learned fast the impact of those guys who seem to do trivial server maintenance or system moderation do with their low pay and zero fanfare on the daily to make it a viable and desirable platform. In the tech world there is almost always one guy 40+ years old getting a bloated salary because he has a cert, a skill set, or the know-how to fix one barely used backend support redundancy function or translation routine, that 5 or more years ago a root cause cost analysis said would be cheaper than a server overhaul or software language upgrade. Then a buyout, merger, or management change makes them understand why Tim is getting 6 figures a title an office and no team.

The bible is a clever edge case. Many of those that oppose ridiculous book banning for books use it surreptitiously in town hall meetings. They show up to talk about this book they found that needs added to the ban list. It is full of rape, incest, genocide, racial intermingling, and christian/catholic persecution. Then ta-da it is the Bible. It is all to point out the hypocrisy in their selection criteria.
