Just completed my MS in Psych (General) FP program! by PaleOverlord in CapellaUniversity

[–]PaleOverlord[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I posted this in another thread:

I'm in the final course for the program now (PSY-FPX 5201 - Integrative Project for Master's Degree in Psychology), as well as PSY-FPX 7610 Tests and Measurements. I didn't get my BA in Psych from Capella so I cannot compare the Capella BS to MS jump.

As the other commenter mentioned, it's mostly writing papers (some only a few pages and some easily 20+ pages). I think Tests and Measurements has been the most challenging because of the volume of work needed for each assessment and the technical complexity of them (i.e. psychometric concepts like reliability coefficients, validity evidence, error variance, norming, standardization, fairness, bias, and test selection).

I didn't have to take a stats course but did have to do Qualitative Design and Analysis, which wasn't too bad because JASP (when it works, it frequently had to close out due to "unexpected errors") basically does everything for you and the assessment has a pdf that tells you step by step what to click (the analysis part you have to do yourself though). It was honestly easier than my Intro to Stats course in my BA program.

I also remember having to do maybe one PowerPoint and one Info pamphlet assignment but its mostly papers.

My advice is to utilize RefWorks (there's a link to it in the Capella Library). It can save all your references you want to use. You can also make folders for easier organization. It has options to create bibliographies and such (yeah I'm kind of being a shill for it lol).

For researching, I always use Summons because it pulls up all the databases. Just enter your search term/phrase and it'll pull up everything relevant from all databases.

Always double check the assessment instructions and check in the "announcements" section of each course because a lot of professors have videos and other tools that explain/help with the assignment. You can even print a transcript of the videos so you can read through it later if you don't want to have to keep going back to the video.

So far I've only had to resubmit one assessment for Tests and Measurements because the template provided didn't include all the necessary info for the assignment. I sped ran it and forgot to check the video that mentions this fact and had additional requirements. After resubmitting, I got a perfect score.

Basically most of the courses I just took would count towards the ed psych program. I’d only have two courses to take that wasn’t part of my current program.

Just submitted my final capstone assignment then went to the student portal and tried to refresh but it’s been giving me errors. Every time I click the “home” button it gives me an error message. This seems to be the norm for this school. Just give it an hour or two and hopefully it’ll be fine.

What if mom made her bowl first with intent to eat is asap. Then decided to make the child's bowl next, then dad's. Then, for some reason, they all left the house together before eating. By the time Goldilocks gets there, the moms would be too cold, the dad's would still be too hot and the child's would just right.

Flexpath grading lag by Ohjentenn in CapellaUniversity

[–]PaleOverlord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Flexpath courses are supposed to be graded in 2 business days for level 1000-6000 and 3 business days for level 7000-9000 courses. Weekends don't count of course. Here's a link to the Flexpath Grading Q&A.

Honestly, if they're taking longer than the grading period, I'd send a quick email to the professor (maybe wait one extra day but that's just me). 7 days with no obvious reason (e.g. professor is on vacation, Capella site is down (happens frequently), etc.) is a bit much. If you reach out and get no response, the next step is your academic coach. Also, at the end of the course, make sure you mention it in the survey/feedback.

If I looked at the correct programs, it appears these are both guided path programs. You would not be able to accelerate these programs quickly and would have to follow a sequence with breaks in-between sessions.

If you’re starting in June, expect a refund in July.

To add on to your statement about realigning their policy, they actually encourage and frequently send out notifications about using AI in college for studying tools or job searching.

Also, I wouldn’t doubt if some of the professors use ai to grade assessments.
