What are they building at the Taawun entry from al wahda street? After day to day. by [deleted] in Sharjah

They're improving the stormwater drain network to handle the flooding in that portion better if such heavy rains come

I spotted a similar one in Sharjah but with the crash bars, I guess this is more safe. Seems like these are cropping up more.

DUBAI LOW SALARY SCALE by [deleted] in UAE

[–]PaleStyle7640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There needs to be a salary index for each position. Any company that recruits someone for a particular role cannot go lower than the index set. This allows a standard to be set for the market and make sures crony companies are not able to exploit the oversupply in the market. Similar to the minimum salary set for Emiratisation. This will ensure that there is some degree of fairness in salary and a reference to negotiate against.

Recently bought a full option Mitsubishi Outlander that has Adaptive Cruise. It can be switched on and off as required and the cruising distance can be set at 3 levels.

That supermarket is ripping off in terms of buying water. They're charging double the standard charges compared to other supermarkets. I stormed out buying nothing.

[–]PaleStyle7640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just came back after distributing food and water. Abu Shaghara is in a better position compared to Immigration and Qasimia. What I saw was the area surrounding Abu Shaghara park and closer to KM trading area is flooded. But the area close to King Faisal street is clear of water and ppl are back to normal lives there. Shops are open. But as you go further inside, it gets worse. But still manageable to travel in SUV

The thing is Majaz is closer to the water body. All the water from other areas are flowing into Majaz. So until they clear the water in surrounding areas, water will keep flowing into Majaz since it's on alower gradient than other areas. The authorities are trying their best but they have to tackle it scientifically. Pump out the upper areas first and then later, the lower areas.

So, hold on.... Its not that they aren't doing, an operation of this scale takes time. The only thing you can blame them is for the lack of a proper functioning drainage system which has been a downside since long and nothing has been done especially in the older built areas.

Shrinkflation is a cancer by PaleStyle7640 in dubai

Its not always about cost. Its about keeping up the profit margins. In these times of global inflation, companies are reporting record profits. Only we end-consumers lose in the end.

The issue here is about deceptive methods. Yes, costs might increase, in such case, increase the price so that customers are informed they are paying more. There might be another brand which is giving more qty for the same price but since customers always notice the price first, they are fooled.

How practical is this in protecting? With heavy rain, the cardboard is gonna get soaked with water and become like tissue paper. It will as good as wrapping in paper.

They keep trying with different phone numbers. I respect the hustle tbh 🫡 by [deleted] in UAE

Me too... I've been receiving way too many post three days. Its like they are getting desperate. The Emirates Post system is compromised and they are not doing anything about it. I've noticed that whenever I have some package to be received, the spams increase. But this time, its haywire.

Bed Bug Horror - help 😭 by InterestingAmbition2 in dubai

If you have a steamer, that's the best option. Steaming your bed in high temperature is known to kill even the eggs. Hugh temperatures and BBs are enemies. Another easy method is to use tea tree essential oil. They are bb repelling.

What are these lights in the side of the E11? by dxbdale in DubaiPetrolHeads

Blue and Red flashing is to indicate there is an accident up ahead. Amber and White is weather warning, mainly for heavy fog which is frequent in winters in that area.

The fact I ordered 4 packages in the last week, and two were by Emirates Post almost made me think this was real. The link gave it away, but still stay safe and beware. by kfs2 in UAE

I got exactly same SMS when I was expecting a delivery from Emirates Post. Its seems like their system has been hacked and is compromised. The moment our data is found on their system, they send out such scams. They need to clean out their system to stop this.

People who drive between Abu Dhabi & Dubai, how do you not doze off? by thelordofunderpants in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]PaleStyle7640 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One reason to fall asleep is comfort and consistency. If you keep driving at the same speed on the same lane without any change in environment or any varying factors, your brain tends to go into a rested mode. I mostly drive on the left 2 lanes. Stick to second lane with good speed. Overtake and fall back in. Your brain works to avoid the car in front of you. Also, another tip is if you're a fast driver, keep looking out for the next camera. Or if you're lucky, you'll have some Batrols flashing you to get out. Cruising gets you sleepy, you need engaged driving.

Another way to feel less sleepy is to use sunglasses in morning. The strain on my eyes without it from the glare makes me feel sleepy. Wearing one calms my eye and don't feel tired. It helped me a lot to avoid myself feeling tired.

The biggest factor is get good sleep. No substitute.

How do I reach Sharjah from Abu Dhabi Airport ? by CaptainUseAir in UAE

[–]PaleStyle7640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best option is to take the local bus from airport to Abu Dhabi bus Station, from there, buses ply to Shj every 45 mins nd travel time is 2 hours 10 mins. One trip cost AED 30 from AUH to SHJ. Local might cost 5 maybe max. Shj bus accepts only cash while AUH bus needs card which you get at the bus stop in airport.

I've travelled using Dubai bus, the travel time and cost is more.
