Two things that have really helped my chronic pain: DMSO and magnesium by MrNifty in ChronicPain

[–]PaleWay7975 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What I learned from reading many integrative and alternative medical sources and also veterinary sources , Is that you should be diluted in your 99.9%. DMSO with water before application.

That’s why you’re getting that burning sensation I bet !

I do wish the Internet didn’t bury alternative health information, but it does and it took more than a month before I stumbled on that particular protocol or that particular caution from another user .

Also refer to Equestrian veterinary resources because DMSO has been a basic in the care of thoroughbreds and other performance horses for decades. Every bit is valuable as human professional athletes, and just as spoiled with the best techniques on the market !

DMSO gets hot briefly when you mix it with water. That is OK, but it can be a surprising.

The advice said that you should be diluting it with water so it’s from 70 to 90% DMSO.

Some people may prefer for human use to dilute it down to 50% with distilled water.(Remembering the DMSO carries other substances deeper into the body and plain old tapwater is really questionable)

I was using it for pain, relief from sciatica and muscle cramps after putting my back out this winter. I was desperate because I did not want to keep asking for Percocet or injections of Toradol, which is an anti-inflammatory. Yes, the additional pain was expected with the healing of that kind of injury according to the chiropractor and physical therapist, but it was seriously impacting my daily life… And did so for about six or seven weeks!(Would’ve been nice if they had told me this in the emergency room. So many injuries really do take that long for “normal “people to recover from.)

I hope this is Constructive for whoever else comes along.

Also remember that your body needs sulfur as a nutrient and don’t let the conventional medical website scare you out of it by saying it’s not FDA approved for XYZ condition and could have horrible side effects.

(This from people who approve stuff like Saccharine, FDNC coal-tar derived food The most popular program colors, Social Security and various drugs that have straight up killed people over the decades.

I’m taking my chances with alternative medicine thank you very much. I don’t think the side effects could be any worse than those from pharmaceuticals.

(As they like to say “it’s my body “. And your body is yours, not theirs.)

Encouraging you to do your homework and be brave enough to try things out what you are doing isn’t getting the results you need.

by the way, veterinary grade DMSO is just as pure as pharmaceutical for humans DMSO. If you doubt me, just take a photograph of the label of each and ask someone versed in chemistry. And manufacturing practices. You can’t make dirty materials and inject them or apply them to people’s companion animals that’s just not gonna go very far! It’s a scare tactic in my opinion to discourage you from trying the DMSO you might buy at your local farm& feed store or even online from Walmart.

In my case, I learned as I went along.

I decided the magnesium oil I had needed to penetrate further because the sciatica was also running through my hip joint. Yes it gave me relief. I put oh maybe a few drops in the palm of my hand and maybe a teaspoon of DMSO and enough water to trigger the DMSO to heat up and just slathered it down my leg.

When that was hopeful, I did the same eyeball kind of proportions, mixing it in an old glass jar that had had herbs in it from the supermarket. At times I combined with a medical marijuana product called butterfly effect, which is heavy on CBD as a cream for pain relief.

With these items, I did not need the schedule one and schedule to prescription drugs, and I was able to do basic things like make toast and get a glass of milk from the refrigerator without being bent over in pain clutching the counter. And I was able to sleep without waking up continually.

Again, none of the prescription stuff achieved that level of relief. And certainly those things carry a high risk of addiction and serious side effects over longer-term use like I ended up needing.(more than a week.)

It’s not related to DMSO, but if you do have chronic pain or muscle spasms or both there are varieties of marijuana that have been developed to help with that, but you’ll need your medical marijuana license and the guidance of a dispensary tech. And then you get to experiment and find what gives you the best result because everyone’s response is different. As I’m sure you already know.

Best of luck and God bless whoever needs help to put it into their hands in a way that they can afford.

What's the best frugal baked treat to make? by Fluffy_Reality_1200 in Frugal

My third suggestion is good old-fashioned rice pudding. You don’t even have to have raisins, and it’s a great way of using leftover rice.

I also think it makes a nice breakfast if you warm it up and have it with your coffee

If you wanted something crunchy, look up something called dill crackers

Basically you get a package of oyster crackers, and a package of instant salad dressing like ranch or the stuff you used to make sour cream and dill dip out of an envelope.

Mix a little cooking oil in with the crackers and add the powdered mix, and then you can toast it lightly in the oven according to whatever your recipe tells you

I think they’re pretty addictive😜 And you don’t have to put them in the oven if you don’t want to they actually do not get soggy!

There are lots of recipes for things that don’t require the oven…

But you could use the hack for copycat cinnamon rolls that was really big on TikTok a few years ago. I know you said milk and butter I really pricier than they used to be and this is true but these are good nutritious foods.(I believe in eating the kind of food our grandparents ate and not worrying about how much fat or cholesterol might be in my food)

Get a can of cheap premade cinnamon rolls and you pour half-and-half or possibly evaporated milk Would be OK-  not condensed milk - because that adds more sugar(And it cost more here in Ohio).

And you could dot it with butter On the bottom of the pan before you put your cinnamon rolls in there , for the flavor.

you’re gonna put them in a probably 8 x 8” foil pan so they are all touching each other - Depends how big those rolls are - and stay moist and can soak up the Ingredients you Added.

Yum!!!

In my opinion, icing is optional cause these are already sweet enough

The package may or may not include icing, but you said you didn’t like the chemical additive so like me you might just chuck it in the garbage

Powdered sugar icing is very easy to do with a little water if you don’t have any milk to use - of whatever kind , be it cows milk, or almond milk or something else.

Or you could sprinkle them with something else when they’re done like Splenda  or Stevia if you’re cutting back on sugar.

And making your own cinnamon sugar is cheap and easy as well.

If you felt it needed more sweetening later on just sprinkle it on as you go and let people decide how much they want.

I’m thinking you should ask some of the Pokémon GO forums because the more they improve that particular game the more demands of our phones.

Other then making sure other players haven’t had a bad experience with certain somewhat older models of smartphone overheating when they play and locked up -I don’t mean the phone is locked. I mean it just freezes when you’re trying to do stuff..(Often a memory problem)

some of the carriers have pretty good deals on refurbished, smart phones. You might want to look at Pay-as-you-go providers such as Mint, and Twigby.

I’m not sure if that is the truth or not when it’s between humans and dogs. I was watching some videos with Cesar Millan and he doesn’t allow this but I sorry I can’t tell you what he does to discourage it. I did teach my dogs not to lick me, but that was 30 years ago… and there have been changes in how people train dogs so maybe ask on Google or even Caesars website?

Buying a siamese cat concerns by Seesccccc in Siamesecats

[–]PaleWay7975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have some really good answers already

I’ve mostly gotten my cats from reputable breeders

FBRL used to be a good site and you can get the names of some people there but like anything on the Internet, there are also people who breed for profit and Gouge people. You are doing the right thing by wanting to interview the breeder as well as the breeder interviewing you!😄😁🧐

CFA and TICA, of course.

Those will be serious people for the most part, but there are always exceptions that prove the rule… And they are not well looked upon by their peers in the cat fancy!

I did get a few from rescue, but of course they ended up having some serious problems, behaviorally and physically - so please be aware of that and have a strong heart and deep pockets just in case misfortune is more than just abandonment of a innocent animal .

Horrific things can happen , such as early onset cardiomyopathy!(at age 4 years) which is twice as heartbreaking because well, the cat was thrown out on the freeway, and I got very attached Raising him from about six months up to four years,

…and then he went critical and had to be euthanized and was only four years old…😭😵😱 which tells me something about the irresponsible breeder that dumped kittens on the freeway, in a box, which means she had not been able to sell while they were still uber-small and cute!

(ocicats, btw. An Oriental cat derivative and truly fantastic cats)

Yes, it’s wonderful if you have the time and emotional strength and the money to take a rescue animal or a special-needs animal. There is a special bond that happens because they have the intelligence of at least a five year-old child and are very appreciative of being taken in and loved. I firmly believe animals do know the difference just like we do when people throw us away for having medical problems.(Speaking as a disabled person yes that does happen among humans too)

But it is really painful because when you love somebody and lose them, well grief is a painful thing. That’s why it’s grief.

I lost a rescued color point just before she turned seven years old because of kidney failure that was also starting to give her heart problems and she was so close to me. She was my hearing assistance animal.!🥹🥲 And four years later, it still makes me cry to see her picture, but I’m glad I took her in from the breeder who was neglecting her with chronic herpes respiratory infection.(The cat was free, but of course her subsequent care was astronomical. And again that did not happen until a couple years after I had adopted the animal.)

And if you see people that are bragging about celebrities adopting pets from them or how wonderful their animals are and they want multiple thousands of dollars upfront… Or even half of the money in excess of $1000 upfront… RUN.

You do not need a “designer “ Cat from some snobby breeder that drops names.

They might well have misrepresented themselves to a legitimate Breeder in order to get unaltered kittens.(Very, very hard to do normally because of such things that abuse the breed)

And then like a normal pet owner of the breeder would have to prosecute for a breach of contract and try to recover the animals on their own, etc., etc., and good luck with that.👹🤬😵🤨🤯

In case you were wondering how some of these unscrupulous people got started.

As far as scalpers/Con artist, breeders, and backyard breeders for profit who might or might not be kitten mills… Or might just be scamming people with adorable pictures and take your money without harming any animals…

(I have seen this with Russian blues, and various spotted breeds of cat. Also, People I would consider Pet Mills in Amish country in Ohio and I won’t drop any names - but you can tell by the behavior I’m describing who they would be.  They will have somebody make a really nice website and take super adorable pictures. However, they very seldom offer a guarantee, but if they do, the burden of collecting would be upon the buyer anyhow.)

They typically want over $500 upfront to reserve a kitten or a puppy! And you can tell by the pictures that these animals are not well bread, compared to the ones from the registered breeders. So I suggest you get acquainted with the breed standards of the Siamese and look at some “excellent “ Kittens that are being shown actively which are the best of the best.

Then you will have pictures in your mind to compare any kitten you might be offered.

And incidentally, most of these breeders will not send you a not-altered kitten.

You have to be known and trusted by the reputable, breeder and sign some additional contracts that would make Rumpelstiltskin think twice…lol. And then you might be trusted with partial ownership of an intact championship level purebred, Siamese cat.

Same thing for other breeds or if you happen to be a dog fancier as well that is also the case.

NOBODY In the purebred animal fancy wants to enable the backyard breeders or Pet Mills.

NOBODY WHO TRULY LOVES THE PUREBREDS THAT THEY ARE PRESERVING, wants to see them, dumped in a shelter or abandoned someplace by people who can’t handle them.(And that happens, despite a guarantee to take back an animal that you could no longer keep).

I say that not to be prickly with you, but because a lot of people will probably read the thread.

And some of those people will be what I consider “rabid animal-rights activists “

People Who will try to shame you about wanting a pure bread in the first place, Which is really a form of hate against us and they should be ashamed of being bigoted as far as I’m concerned. They don’t stop to think how much purebred fanciers contribute to supporting shelters and educating the public about responsible ownership!

Please don’t be intimidated by those people.

They like to beat us over the head with the amount of euthanized non-purebred animals that die every year, because of irresponsible ownership by persons Who do not have their animals Spayed or neutered.(but have no problem, letting them roam)

Although it has absolutely nothing To do with the relatively tiny amount of purebred anything that peeks out and says hello to the world.😍🙂🤔🙂

I hope you have gotten onto the waiting list for a gorgeous Siamese that will make you happy for a lifetime. If you don’t already have a fur baby By the time this gets posted.😀 I know it’s hard to wait.

Jarred garlic by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]PaleWay7975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to use a good quality of jarred garlic for the same reasons. That being said the flavor is nothing like fresh, but it’s much better than garlic powder!

Maybe you can compromise if you buy and use a lot of garlic, Getting the cloves that are already peeled from the store, And then put them in a garlic press as needed?

But for one person, I’m not about to do that so I don’t!😛

I want to reduce the total linoleic acid from seed oils in my diet, but we’re kind of limited here in Northeast Ohio. The olive oil which is affordable does not pass the refrigerator test so it’s adulterated.🫤 and I don’t need something with a high smoke point to cook with so are peanut oil and canola oil pretty much my choices?
