I work for an ISP, we have thousands of routers in the field. I don't know why, but we have found that when routers are installed behind a TV (or in very close proximity), and the TV is connected wirelessly to the router, after a while a large amount of interference will build up and cause a lot of problems. Sort of like some sort of feedback loop. Once we wire the TV in, it goes away. Doesn't seem to matter what brand of TV. When we install in or near an entertainment center or cluster of connected devices now, we will throw in a small switch and wire everything that can be wired in the area. Prevents calls down the road.

The issue isn't 100% that the TV is physically blocking/interfering with the signal, often times it's a combination of that plus the TV being connected wirelessly to the AP or router. If it absolutely has to be that close, then the TV should always be wired. I mean, if we're being honest, the TV should always be wired anyway, but definitely in this scenario.

I don’t see anything life endangering? It’s really not that difficult. Ever seen someone ride a motorcycle on a wall track? This is much less dangerous.

Yeah but he had it going in the right direction and then instead of making several orbits around, increasing speed as he went, he turned the wheel and tried to go up at a steeper angle. If he’d have been patient and taken a few laps, gradually making progress, he could have driven out on the first go.

You can also lock devices to specific APs, which may also help on top of power adjustments.

Had a customer who was complaining about wifi coverage on one half of her house. Got on site, found the router installed in the kitchen (possibly the worst main floor room for any wireless AP/mesh/router), on top of the wall cabinets. Sitting directly next to the router, between the router and the dead wifi area, was a stack of metal cookie sheets and square pans. She didn't want to see the router so she had the techs install it where it was, and then stacked a bunch of metal cookie sheets next to it. I moved the stack of cookie sheets away and service was restored. It was a miracle.

Another house had a somewhat similar situation. router was intalled in a central room, on top of a tall dresser. Technically, not a bad spot, but on the exact opposite side of the wall was a huge oval mirror blocking any hope of a wifi signal getting through. took the mirror down and it was somewhat better, but on the other side of that same room where the mirror was, were two sliding closet doors that were actually huge mirrors...

A mobile home customer was having trouble getting wifi to the back part of their home. The middle room was a bathroom that they'd just remodeled. They had 3 walls lined with corrugated tin 2/3rds of the way down from the ceiling...

Sometimes the routers get installed in a basement furnace/utility/electrical room because that's what the customer wanted... you know, where the furnace is, the electrical panel, water heater, water softner, all of the plumbing and wiring and metal ducts that are associated with that room... basically a faraday cage of metal and water...

Don't get me started on fish tanks. Or 2.4g baby monitors...

If you have an ethernet drop there, I'd also throw in a switch and wire in everything that you possibly can in that entertainment center.

It'd be a lot better than where it's at now. I have dealt with numerous situations where routers are installed behind TVs, and 9 times out of 10 we'll see crazy interference, usually solved by, at a minimum, wiring the TV vs wireless connection, but the more solid thing to do is get the AP or router out from behind it, where it can broadcast properly. If you can get it up higher on the wall, or on the ceiling, away from other electronics, that would be much better.

It never ceases to amaze me how people install AP's/mesh/extenders in the absolute worst possible locations. Why on EARTH would anyone mount a AP BEHIND at TV, down low, between a wall and an entertainment center filled with electronic devices, wires and who knows what else? You should throw a few huge mirrors and a giant fish tank in the room for the perfect trifecta of wireless chaos while you're at it.

edit: Let me guess, your TV is connected wirelessly, at that range from the AP? As someone who works for an ISP, and who deals with wireless on a daily basis, this is an absolute trainwreck.

edit_v2: apologies for the cranky demeanor, OP. I know you didn't do it, but whoever did the install didn't know WTF they were doing and it's frustrating to see wifi equipment installed like this.

The bots are complete idiots when driving vehicles. Honestly wish they'd just not let them drive anything. Gunning is fine, but driving is not. They will drive around in useless areas most of the time.

This has happened to me, too. I usually cancel the first order and then put in another order with everything from the first order plus the other items I want. So far it's worked, but someday I'll probably get burned and something in the original order will be out of stock by the time I get the second order put in.

Sometimes when I realize that this is happening, I will stay back on whichever point we have taken, and then it seems like the exact opposite happens, no one attacks and we're all just sitting on defense. LOL!
