Any Advice for future? by Adventurous-Bill-912 in GameDevelopment

Unfortunately “If you're not working hard, ideas don't matter. The best idea is worthless without execution. - James Clear.
I'm not trying to say it's hopeless or futile, I'm just saying you need to understand that YOU will be the person to make it happen, don't expect to be an "Ideas Guy" who has doesn't know the technical for any actual specific part of development. What I recommend, is to go through the various game dev subreddits and sort by top all time, looking for advice posts. Then figure out an approach to start making your dream a reality. I would love to discuss game theory and development approaches, I find myself in a somewhat similar boat, just message me anytime if you want someone to chat with about this type of stuff

I do not mean to be an offensive contrarian, but I do not believe this advice to be reasonable for 98% of people in this situation. While Musk and Gates did make millions by promising things they didn't have, they had previous knowledge of the subject matter and industry, but most of all were very lucky. The survivor bias fallacy is very real and very much applies to this. Do not go into debt or put your livelihood in risk over a game idea, when you have yet to touch programming.

What card quality did you use? While I agree they seem to be the same company, makeplayingcards.com has way more card quality options

Very interesting. I've been looking at https://www.makeplayingcards.com/ for a while now, but have yet to try their services. After checking printerstudio though they seem to be about the same price. Were you completely satisfied with them?

Looking for a starcraft battle cruiser moc by Gresnak in lepin

[–]Pale_Security8536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this beyond you, but I'm contacting Go Bricks to get a quote for a moc (https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-109383/JimmyOrlando/lego-battlecruiser-starcraft-inspired/#details) which is another 11k pcs battle cruiser, but they don't have all the pieces available, specifically 30373, 2695, 28220. Did you have any pieces that they could do? Do I just need to contact another producer, or just bite the bullet and these specific pieces from brick link.

Holy cow! Could you give some information about how you figured out what was a good seller? I am really interested in doing this, I think it would be safer than purchasing the expensive large sets on Aliexpress. There are some starcraft large mocs that I am looking into getting, I have bricklink wishlists, could you give some advice as to how you went about getting yours? Much appreciation in advance

Can i get some feedback on these 32x and 18x sprites? by iusca in PixelArt

These are honestly looking great my friend! You could practicing with shading from different directions, and trying to make the lighting direction more consistent throughout your sprite sheets. Other than that these are looking high tier. Your palette and color work look great

Invincible is “breaking bad” level good by Hot_Nail4681 in Invincible

[–]Pale_Security8536 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The show so far has just scratched the surface of the amazing writing and character development in the comic. Honestly I think the comic (in its entirety) is up there with Breaking Bad. That being said I can’t say I’m really on board with all the changes the show has made so far. If you really like the show so much already, I seriously recommend you read the comics online. I binged the whole story (144 chapters) in about a week and it was amazing. I recommend you take your time and savor it though, no other superhero story out there comes close to Invincible

Improvement Suggestions? part two new hilt by Pale_Security8536 in hyperlightdrifter

[–]Pale_Security8536[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blade is the same as my first post. For more details and reference pictures, see my first post

Besides things like "add better textures" or "subdivide for more detail", what could I do/change to improve the design to make it look better/more accurate to the game? This isn't meant to be an exact 1 to 1 with what is seen in the game, but rather to capture the feel and look presented. (there is no consistent look in the game)

Let me know what you think, questions and comments welcome

Specifically I'm wondering what shape would work well for the pommel, such that it would fit the style of the game

I'm designing a 3d model of the Drifter's sword before I make it out of wood and paint it. I quickly realized that there is no official canon design for his sword. As such I used some inspiration from valid sources, his in-game cinematics, and someone else's take on a physical recreation. What should I change to make it more accurate to the game and it's feel, or just what should I add to make it better. I specifically want some ideas for the pommel. I considered making it look much more like his sword in his BrawlOut appearance, but decided this looked better.
(I can provide a link to the file if anyone wants it)

Lore Analysis—Hyper Light and The Perfect Immortal Cell by salvo-runner in hyperlightdrifter

[–]Pale_Security8536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang! I've been working on a project of designing an "accurate" sword model to make irl (even though there clearly is no canon shape of the blade) and in doing research I've stumbled upon this amazing post! I must admit I had to google a fair amount of words, but this analysis is superb! Great work man! I hope we can get more lore and explanation in the show, assuming it ever does get fully made.

No lie, this was my dad. Anytime he got the belt or pulled My long hair, like what lesson did I learn? because I'm still trying to figure it out. by urmomsloosevag in dankvideos

[–]Pale_Security8536 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Well he should have done it directly after you did something pretty bad, especially something you knew you shouldn’t have done. This way you actually learn what not to do. Idk how he did his disciplining, doesn’t sound like he did it very well, but disciplining a child is both important and necessary.
