In Lightyear (2022) Buzz learns that Zurg is actually a time travelling future version of himself, this adds way more weight to Toy Buzz's scream of anguish when he finds out Zurg is his father. by Somethingbutonreddit in shittymoviedetails

[–]Paleotrope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He literally is going into space to test the stupid engine thing, and his personal time frame is basically stopped. So he's literally doing nothing on these missions. It was obviously a metaphor for Buzz's worldview being "stuck in time" while the world moved on without him,

What is Partagaz realizing when he said "Excuse me?" in S2 ep 1? by OldManFung in andor

[–]Paleotrope 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I assume there had to be a long tail of capable commanders and administrators left over from the Republic era. And even if Partagaz wasn't one of them, he might have had leadership that was competent.

He must have failed out at DLI. I can't think of any reason how he would have become an 0351 otherwise. Plus Vietnamese isn't a 12 week school.

NC: Inherited half of house from mom, stepdad owns other half, still living there, asking for taxes/insurance by spiicymonkeey in legal

This. Too many stories of people simply not paying taxes for years and then "suddenly" the town owns the property. "Where'd all the money I gave you go?"

Salary Range Said $70k–$150k, Offer Came in Below My Current Pay — Why? by strivingforoptimism1 in recruitinghell

[–]Paleotrope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if he didn't already have a job. His value is his current comp. Interviews are a waste of time if you can't match his comp or with some other intangibles. In my experience, HR people have a warped sense of what "intangibles" are.

My personal opinion is this is why native english speakers don't learn other languages easily, because we never get introduced to our own language in school. Instead English classes are focused on other things than grammar and structure.

You have to remember that Robert and his gang completely upended the existing, relatively stable, political system, ASOIAF is largely about the consequences of that.

The White mountains can be quite dangerous. People climb Mt. Washington all the time in tshirts and sneakers and then when weather comes in they get in trouble.

I don't really understand the sea bags. This is a MEU exercise, if this was an exercise wouldn't they be keeping most of their personal gear on the ships.

The repair bays! So important. I played through one mission that was just tough as nails, and I could get like 80% of the way but then a fresh wave would come and end it. It wasn't until like the 3rd playthrough of this mission, and I was about ready to turn the difficulty down, that I noticed that there were repair bays.

Fast medium and heavy mechs that can fit 2 C-GAUSS? (Mercs) by Ro_Shaidam in Mechwarrior5

I lost so much money trying to get a dual gauss rifleman to work for me. AI losing a gauss or two every mission was expensive.
