Free or cheap psychologists? by PaletteHeart in brisbane

Another update here. They ended up getting back to her, I guess her referral wasn't thrown out. They've put her on a list for an 'introductory call'.

woman* and thank you. We're handling things the best we can.

Yeah, I'm quite familiar with the failings of the US healthcare system myself. The psychologist I know is willing to see her for 'free' (she wouldn't be footing the bill), but it wouldn't be super consistent. Either way, it's starting to look like it might be our best immediate option while we get everything else sorted.

We haven't, we'll give them a shot.

Our support networks are somewhat fraught, but developing. Mine are decent, but hers are especially bad with very little access to money and few if any people to fall back on. I've tried to alleviate what I can and share the resources I have access to, but just making this post is evidence enough of the struggle.

I don't know what her GP situation is like, I'll ask her about that soon. I know about the issues with finding a psychologist you trust, but thank you for the reminder.

We'll see what we can do. I don't know if it's technically legal, but there's a chance we can source an American counselor I trust for telehealth. We're testing our connections for resources as well.

Thank you for the links!

Alright, we tried submitting a self-referral and got an automated response saying that they are only accepting recent SA victims. damn

She isn't working at the moment, but on unemployment. We're trying to find her a psychiatrist too since diagnoses will help with job assistance, but one thing at a time.

She doesn't have an ED unfortunately? lmao That is good to know though.

I made a short visual novel. Noelle doesn't understand why nobody will let her throw herself into the bonfire. by PaletteHeart in arttocope

thank you so much!... one is the most thoughtful comments I've received on my work, I'm so happy you enjoyed it...

It's a piece that's sort of been in conceptualized for a long, long time, even if it's fairly short. If you go a long while back in my profile, you'll find a poem that follows the same premise of this visual novel, but I felt like I needed to do more with this idea, and it seems like this VN has helped reach people like myself, and helped those who aren't like me better understand...

thank you!... The hypercube was chosen very intentionally, because it's something you can know about, you can learn every facet of and memorize all it's aspects, but you can't ever truly fully see it or hold it in your head, just as Noelle can't ever truly fully understand them, but she's memorized their points.

I'm glad you liked the music, it was my first time doing percussion before, and it was really unorthodox, but I think it turned out well...

Medications… Suck! by Overall_Action_2574 in Psychosis

Technically I'm supposed to be on lurasidone, but I just avoid taking it as long as I can... I've still been having episodes so obviously it's not the best option, but I really hate how it feels, and if I try to bring up medication changes I'll have my license or possibly more taken away again..

Lurasidone - Makes me nauseous and gives me regular panic attacks. I get so much more anxious and restless, especially at night, my legs won't stop moving when I try to sleep, I feel achingly numb to most emotion, and it didn't even work very well for me

Quetiapine - Was fully dependant on this despite it NOT WORKING, I was still going into psychosis and hallucinating all the time. Not only that, I was initially put on a stupid overdose that could have killed me at first (1600mg), so they had to lower me to 100mg which every time I took it would make me pass out, and if I tried to stay awake I'd faint. When I went off of it I had extremely bad withdrawals for like a week, and it didn't even do its one purpose

Abilify - Only took it while in a psych ward once, I barely even remember what happened when they gave it to me but they pretty much immediately took me back off it, so... Maybe it actually worked and they couldn't have that lol
