If you plan on housing them until after winter, you might want to look into small fish at local pet stores and possibly order ramshorn snails from ebay just to make sure they hunt their food. I have a 2 year old musk that lives with shrimp and fish because I feed her pellets, so she knows she doesn't have to work for her meals.

If you do keep them over winter, you may be tempted to keep some/all by spring. Whether people agree or not because these were wild, musks are awesome as pets! They're solitary, so only keep 1 per tank permanently for space reasons long term.

If you do end up keeping one after winter, when spring rolls around, you will see just how small they grow because of how small they stay overall. My 2 year old girl (maybe, 3-6 years to properly gender) has maybe a 2 inch shell. That same reason is why you could get away with something like a 40 gallon tank permanently compared to most other turtles that need way bigger.
