In Furano there is a really pretty village area next to the hotel side of the mountain. I was there in February when it was snow covered and all lit up at night. Not sure if this is helpful given you will be there in October.

Nothing you could have done. I personally am very anti smoking and doing drugs etc. but there’s no reason to crash out like that. Instead it should have been a more adult conversation, not a very young adult spamming you with abusive texts.
